Chara had not been as far as she wanted to be, she stepped before the door that was supposed to be sealed by her mother. Now, the reason she stayed there was mostly because she did not know how that door operated. Chara could not allow her companion to be left here in the Ruins after the battle that ensued, that would be some tasteless defeat. The Fallen was one to never admit defeat, and her SOUL went suddenly dark red, something between possessed and determined. That left half her face oozing and the other with a glowing red pupil.

"Of course, that would trigger you too, stupid demon."

Chara played with her dark brown rebel hair, and wondered what would feel to pamper that cute boy's hair :

"And here I am getting overwhelmed by little old Frisk, who would have guessed?"

With that thought in mind, she felt cold from staying all night long beside that ominous door. It was a poor thought to have gone earlier without him or proper clothes. She knew how chilly would be Snowdin Village, but was more preoccupied with not hurting him further than being warmly clothed. There she saw Frisk running towards her with clothes falling piece by piece, as he wasn't fully recovered and took a sweater too many. She laughed so hard at the scene that she couldn't stop even after he put up his angry poker face.

"Chara, stop mocking me and help me a bit will you?"

"I really can't stop laughing at how silly you are, little Frisk."

"I would not have to be that silly if big Chara had not packed up some clothes. You told me we're going somewhere cold right? "Snowden"?"

"Snowdin Village, silly. It always snows in there and it would be wise for you to pack up some clothes."

"Chara, it is not funny at all, you could have died of cold if you were really going to "pave the way" !"

"Nope." Chara summoned a fireball, as small as it was, it felt powerful for some reason. Frisk understood that Chara could use magic to warm herself up, but would eventually fall short given the need to recast it, as much as he recalls from the battle with Toriel.

"I know you are older and more capable than I am, Chara, but take those" Frisk took a bunch of vests and jackets that would match her current outfit. Chara found that cute, that little boy went from being a diligent follower to one with much attention.

"Thank you, Frisk. Now that you are also wearing that much clothing we should press on. Leave those there, Mother will pick them up."

Frisk recalled the goat mother and felt saddened at not seeing her one last time, but was at least glad Chara did see her off. They moved out from the last door in the ruins, and onto another dark passage. Similar to what he saw at his fall, Frisk was again in a cave with some light shattered across flower patches. A brushing sound was heard again, and the two humans founded Flowey grinning at them again.

"Howdy, I'm Flow- oh Hello brat. You sure knew how to play by the rules, you spared Toriel but killed a few monsters, Eh? They had not their own Toriel dont you thin-?"

"Hey Asriel."

"Chara?"

"Asri- Brat, from who did you kno that name ?!"

"From me."

"Chara? Is that really Asri-" but Chara motioned to Frisk to hush. She approached Flowey, holding his hand and her knife.

"You ... the brat had you do the work, demon child? I knew they were clever but not that much either. You sure loved killing those monsters you hold dear, and for a human?"

"Silence ! You are no different, you maniac flower ! You sure would love to do some killing but your pellets can't do much these days to a little human."

Flowey brought back their must disgusting facial expressions before continuing, some crossing between a man-eater and a disfigured villain.

"Oh really? Wait for me little Monarch, I will be happy to oblige and kill you when the time is ripe, and that goes for you too stupid brat." said the twisted plant before vanishing underground with a loud cackling.

Frisk did not understand how this evil being and the nice monster they saw in their dreams would match, but thought ir would be best not to bring that topic to the table now. He held the hand that was tightening on the knife and looked at Chara's eyes. He was frightened to the core, but held the stare well until she dropped the blade. Her eyes always carried so much hatred when she was out of her mind, and it was scary to deal with her like that.

Chara noticed the warm SOUL of her human "friend" filling their own, and was no longer staring at them. She held his other hand still, and opted to keep one in her pocket for now. They went out the last entrance of the Ruins, and were off to Snowdin village. The cold was there, but there was also the wind. It howled along the dead trees along the road covered in snow, and that was not all of it. Something was pursuing them pretty fast, and Chara cued Frisk to run. They had confirmation of a pursuer when a branch cracked, and ran faster until they were to a barricaded bridge ... well somehow, gaps were too wide to let anything not cross the bridge.

Whatever was after them approached slowly and initiated and handshake

"what is it, human, dont know how to shake the hand of a pa- sorry, human and ... um, ghost?"

"Frisk, do not, it may be a trap."

"no sweat, ghost that feels familiar, i am no human fanatic" Frisk was not into rudeness, so he did shake that ... whoopee cushion onsome lazy skeleton with a blue hoodie and comfy flip-flops. Chara was speechless, One that skeleton knew her and her existence, and two had about the same repertoire of jokes her mother had.

"hehe, the whoopee cushion, classic but effective. name is sans, you got one don't ya." Frisk managed to undo his poker face, that skeleton was funny but he was as bad as Chara at joking. They sounded better coming from him though, and he was about to tell Chara to speak to them when-

"buddy, i guess you can talk in your head so lets do that for now, whatcha named, kid?"

"Frisk, and the ghost with me is Chara."

"Frisk, why are you introducing me to bonehead here?"

"because you're too much of a lady to do it yourself"

Frisk laughed. Hard. Too hard to bother the snow or the cold. It was not the best joke he heard, but Chara being a lady was way too unreal it made him laugh really hard.

"Friiiiiiissssssk ~" Chara looked she was going Berserk on the Child anytime soon, but sans interrupted.

"look, i may be okay but my bro ... is a real human fanatic. if he got one for bonus then it'll be one happy e-skele-tion for him. he will be here soon, so get your human legs to work, will ya kid?"

Frisk nodded, and followed the lazy bones to his post, a sentry post. There was a weirdly shaped lamp, it looked like Frisk from a side view. Chara knew what the bonehead planned, but chose not to tell her companion to have the final laugh.

"quickly, behind that conveniently shaped lamp. my bro will be here any time soon." Chara went besides Frisk since they knew what was up. Frisk did not get how sans' brother could not see the trick.

"SANS!"

""hey bro, wassup?"

"YOU NOT DOING WORK IS WHAT IS UP, YOU LAZY BONES, I CHECKED EVERY PUZZLE AND EVERY DOG STATIONED AND YOU DID NOTHING ALL DAY?"

"bro, no worries, I worked my lazy ass to the bone to make this human shaped lamp here. it was a bright idea since a human went by here and found my jokes humerus"

"SANS ! THAT WAS THREE TIMES TOO MANY PUNS IN ONE SENTENCE ... WAIT, A HUMAN? WHERE DID THEY GO? WHY DID YOU NOT STOP THEM?"

"um, so you get all the credit?"

"INDEED, I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS, WILL CAPTURE THE HUMAN AND FINALLY JOIN THE ROYAL GUARD! NOW FOLLOW ME SANS, WE CANNOT LET THE HUMAN ESCAPE!"

"you can go ahead, bro. I got some more sentry work here tibia-nest"

Papyrus left without ranting at his brother for his lame puns, he had adorned a knight like armor with a red cape, and looked pretty diligent in comparison. Chara and Frisk came out and bided sans farewell, but he talked to Chara while seemingly stopping time.

"hey kid, i know who you are, i know you got a demon inside you and i guess that knife isnt just for cookin, but dont go rampaging again or you're gonna have a bad time" while sans' eyes went blank for a second, Chara smiled and defied his empty glare before following an imprudent Frisk who was in battle mode yet again.
