Katlynne POV:

'I don't know why, but I'm nervous.'

Sahara nodded. She tugged at the sleeve of her uniform and said, 'Me too.'

'I hope we win.'

'You know the rules. Only one wins. One of us will leave without the other.'

I suppose I should explain.

I am thirteen years old, and I am in debt.

Yes, I know, thirteen and in debt? Oh my god!

But it was their 'kindness'.

Okay, I'm not the one who's in debt, my parents are. But their 'kindness' was, instead of taking my parents in for the Squid Game, and possibly leaving me an orphan, they took me.

So this one guy approached me and said, 'I know you are in debt. Come with me and it will be fixed. You will simply play some children's games and if you win, you will get money.' I couldn't refuse. Money meant less debt. So I accepted.

He brought me to this place, where now I am sitting on a super tall bunk bed with my new friends: Sahara, Julia, Kinzie and Gemma.

We all have numbers on our suits. I am 132, Sahara is 023, Kinzie is 059 and Gemma is 124.

A door opens and we all look up. A person is walking in; pink jumpsuit and hood, black full mask with white square.

'Welcome to Squid Game Youth.' He smiles… at least, I assume he's smiling. His voice sounded like it. 'For all but one… welcome to your doom.'
