The second time was all her fault. She should have known something was wrong, should have trusted that feeling in her stomach. Yet she hadn't.
Standing in the bedroom she shared with the woman she loved, Vi knew she should turn back. Yet, "Woman she loved" meant so many things lately. It confused her. Was simple before, but Jinx always ruined everything she touched, and that included this.
Jinx's strange eyes were half-lidded, gleaming with that mad glint that haunted Vi's nightmares. Her lips curled into a sinister smile as she backed further into the room, invading this precious territory that was intimate only to Cait and Vi, grasping Vi's hand all the while, dragging her big sister along with her. They did not travel far.
In a sudden fit of exhilaration, Jinx threw all of Caitlyn's belongings off of her desk, including her computer- ripping the plugs out and laughing as papers, machinery, everything went flying all over Vi and her fiance's bedroom. Vi stared mutely, chest frozen up with a strange, thrill-filled terror as her sister seemed to be consumed by a fit of madness. If the medicine was working, the evidence to the contrary spoke loudly here.
Watching Jinx laugh and destroy the order that she and Cait had built up over the years was filling Vi with a familiar feeling. Just like in their youth, Jinx was wild-spirited, impossible to control. Once everything was tossed off the gleaming mahogany surface, Jinx stood there, chest heaving and laughing still, though softer now. She spun around, heavily breathing.
"Come on, sis- let's blow it all up!"
Vi stared back, mute for a moment, and when she finally spoke her voice was anguished. "Jinx... You promised you wouldn't do this. I don't... I don't want to destroy this. This is my life. Don't you understand? Caitlyn is my fiance, I'm going to marry her."
If the words hit Jinx, Vi didn't know. But she did know her sister was disturbingly quiet, her laughter dying away. The smile slipped away too, and that was when Vi knew what she had said registered. Vi's ears could have bled with the impact of the next words those lovely, soft lips she dreamed of spoke.
"How can you marry that girl when you want to fuck your little sister?
Vi groaned in horror, backing away a step, shaking her head. Her heart was going to explode, body seized with terror sweat. Her sister knew what burned inside.
"I feel it too, that's how I know- meant to be, you and me, even now. You feel it!" To emphasize her words, Jinx placed her hand where Vi had craved for years. The soft, gentle touch on her dick made her groan. Vi let Jinx's hand explore even as her heart sunk into darkened depths, even as despair brimmed at the edge of her mind. A guilty erection hardened between her thighs, worsened when the younger girl squeezed it, whispering, "Yes, that's it... That's it..."
Jinx stroked her up and down slowly, squeezing around the immense length.
Despite everything... despite Caitlyn and despite this room and despite this fucking house and despite her sister's damned meds... Vi was giving in. Vi was going to destroy it all, if she didn't stop herself. Caitlyn's soft blue eyes flittered through her mind, and she moaned in agony as she imagined them brimmed with tears, or worse... flashing with hatred. This monstrous betrayal would ruin the sheriff.
Vi spoke carefully, firmly. "This has to stop, Jinx. Stop touching me..." Perhaps if she'd managed to maintain her firmness, and not had a quiver at the end, Jinx might have listened.
"Boo. Boring, sister, boring boring BORING!" Her tone went from that sweet, familiar, mischievous to an angry edge that Vi recognized from childhood. Jinx always had been quick to anger, and her emotions were beyond fiery. Vi's heart raced, even as her fists and jaw clenched, fear spiking in her stomach as a different feeling arose, one she had to - she had to - stash away.
Jinx relaxed suddenly, then... she merely peeled her clothing off. Fully naked, lithe, bony body on display with those soft-capped breasts wrapped with one arm, she laid back with a knowing smile on the desk and spread her thighs wide. "Let's not pretend anymore. I'm tired of that game. Everything OUT in the open- for once! Everyone keeps secret feelings, well, BORING! Miss Tall Hat doesn't get what it means when you look at me that way all burning all sizzle, but I've always known, and you've always worn it and you can't hide it no matter how hard you try. You bury it away so the cat won't get away, but this is the cat that controls you! This kitty, Vi." She stroked Vi's jaw with a soft hand, cupping her cheek, as with her other hand she pulled herself apart.
"All yours," Jinx whispered, eyes burning like fire. "Put it in me. Ruin it all."
No. She couldn't. But everything was on display, her sisters slick, innocent folds. Jinx smelled, looked so good, all that sweet wet pinkness. Vi's eyes widened as she realized she'd never had a choice. This stranger, who truly wasn't a stranger, owned Violet the way she always had since that moment. Despite wishing it was someone new, someone innocent, she also knew that it could never be anyway but this. Jinx, unrestrained and wild, ruining her mind.
How...
How had they gotten here?
The hospital was unsettling. Everytime Vi visited, the horrifying sounds echoed down the hall from the various eerily bright hallways - each door locking away countless inhabitants who wailed, screamed, spoke gibberish as Vi and Cait passed. Mental health was something new, and though this was the best facility available, it was far from perfect. Shamefully funded by one Renata Glasc, there were shadowy rumors that other things went on here. Vi had investigated herself when Cait recommended the place. If the rumors were true, she'd found no evidence.
Vi still felt unsettled as the doctor led her to the waiting room where they were keeping Jinx and her small pack of belongings. She'd been unable to let go of Fishbones, so he'd been fashioned into some kind of useless column of plaster. The bright, spray-painted hunk of junk was the first think Vi noticed as they entered. When those strange, familiar eyes beamed into her the Enforcer purposefully looked away from the flash of blue hair in her peripheral.
"Violet?" The girl known as Jinx asked softly, voice soft and almost dazed.
When Cait squeezed her hand, murmuring something soft and comforting, Vi finally found the strength to turn her head. A beautiful stranger wearing her sister's angular face gazed back. The once keen excitement that had marked her sister was so unique, so special, seemed gone now. Jinx, scrawny as can be with a sunken countenance, seemed to have what made had her energy drained out of her. Her smile was weak as she cocked her head and stared in wonder at her older sister.
"Yes, Jinx," Vi said carefully, and the name sounded foreign, alien, enemy as it flowed from her lips. "I'm here to take you home."
The blue-haired girl said nothing, then stared at Caitlyn with a careful silence, her head slightly cocking a smile pulling at her lips.
"I remember you! Painface, twice over!" Jinx laughed softly, her words coming out like some sick joke. "You're here like a dream. Why?" Her voice sounded far away, distant, and so terrifyingly small. She was staring at Caitlyn with a quiet intensity, as if the woman was the center of her world, directing all her attention a singular way. Vi had never seen her so focused before. The unsettling dilation of her pupils, the strange droning lull to her voice, it disturbed Vi...
She glowered accusingly at the doctor, who swallowed and adjusted his glasses: "U-um, it may take some time for you to adjust to her new way of speaking, but its important that Jinx is allowed to express herself in the way she pleases. Try your best to understand her."
Was it possible to understand nonsense?
"R-right." Cait smiled weakly. The brunette softened her expression. "Jinx, you seem to remember me. My name is Caitlyn, and I'm Violet's fiance."
Jinx's eyes flicked to her, narrowing. Vi's stomach sunk into herself, and her heart hammered. She managed a smile, nervously placing her hand around Cait's, squeezing hard for comfort. "We may have a rough history, the three of us baby sis, but... it'll be different now. Cait and I want to take care of you. Want to give you everything you and I never had."
Jinx merely whispered, "Never had?" And her eyes continued to stare far, far into Vi. She had to avert her gaze, squeezing Cait's hand so hard the sheriff winced. She hadn't even realized she was doing that... the enforcer ripped her hands away, and walked off a short distance.
Cait continued where she left off. "Jinx, you are more than welcome in my home. What's mine will be yours, I will stop at nothing to make sure you feel comfortable and safe."
A strange silence filled the air. When Jinx spoke it was with a soft, weak voice- tiny and girlish. "Even though She killed your mother?"
Shocked, Vi felt her heart seize. That almost sounded like Powder, and bringing up that horrible event...
Cait's face rapidly darkened with emotion, eyes tearing up, and the Doctor spoke up quickly. "Now now, there is no reason to drudge up the past, Jinx. The Sheriff does not hold your past mistakes against you, and neither should you."
Even if that mistake resulted in the death of some of Cait's family members. Vi felt a surge of warm affection as she glanced at the brunette marksman, so gentle with a girl that had destroyed a part of her life. Caitlyn was so damn strong, and so beautiful. She was the perfect fiance, and would be an even better wife. Vi swallowed hard, glanced at Jinx, and rubbed her sweaty palms on her jeans. This was all going well, and yet she had this strange feeling, one she ignored as she and Caitlyn followed the doctor and their new charge to the front of Administration, signing the paperwork that would put Jinx into their legal custody.
"I trust you will take care of her," the doctor said with confidence, and with his signature, Jinx was free to leave with them.
From the outside, Jinx truly did seem reformed. Vi could not stop watching the girl, her blue gaze latched onto the blunette with an almost frightening intensity. Multiple times Cait nudged her, asking her if she was alright. No, she wasn't alright, but she wasn't sure why. She should be happy Jinx was free, and she was, but not entirely. She could not help but feel like leading the girl into her own home was the same as leading a wolf into a sheep's den. Jinx had done so many horrible things over the past few years, how could they just let it all go?
How could Vi believe that anything had actually changed with those mad, bright eyes still glowed from within that pale, sunken, tattooed frame? Those long, lanky limbs, those slender hips, long-fingered hands. Vi had longed to burn her eyes with the sight of her sister. Every day she'd been in prison, she'd been thinking of Powder, of coming home to her. Only for everything to go to Hell. It was supposed to be Powder and Violet for life, yet... Vi had left her behind. She'd never forgiven herself for that nor what came after. It had been hard, but Cait and her had agreed the past should be left as just that, and they would take Jinx in. For Vi's sake, Caitlyn made that sacrifice gladly. Was it a mistake?
It was... surely, it was, but why? Oh, Vi knew why. Felt it burning inside her even now as she watched Jinx make herself at home. Like a faun, she was in wonder at everything she saw. The long, regal halls fascinated her.
"I really get to live here, Miss Caitlyn?"
"Miss WHAT?!" Cait laughed, "No need for an honorific, Jinx, you're family now! Like I said, what's mine is yours, including this house."
Jinx numbly gazed at the massive, sprawling home with its huge, towering windows, elegant frames, flawless paintjob. Every piece of furniture seemed to be worth a fortune and then some, Caitlyn did nothing in short order. It was bigger than most houses, truly remarkable, and even Vi couldn't believe that once she married Cait, she was going to own this fucking place too. Hard enough believing she lived in it, but she supposed that was part of growing up poor. Either way, the same discomfort and fish-out-of-water sensation was evident in Jinx as she stared in horror and wonder.
Vi didn't want to be alone with Jinx for the first few days. In a way, she avoided the girl. Hanging out with her felt wrong, like there was a corpse next to her. Sure, this was flesh-n-blood Jinx, but Vi couldn't shake a strange feeling around her. Being drugged... it just wasn't right. She deserved freedom of thought, and yet that couldn't happen, because of what she was. All of this tore Vi apart. But she wasn't alone with it.
She wasn't supposed to be.
Then, on the second day home, when Jinx just finally started to get settled in, Caitlyn destroyed her entire world. "I'm sorry. Something important has come up with Jayce, my love. I have to go see him." Cait touched her fingers, smiled at her softly. "But I'm a call away."
"Don't go," Vi pleaded before she could stop herself, "I can't do it alone."
Caitlyn squeezed her. "I'm sorry. I can't stay, though I wish more than anything I could... But you can do this. Just be yourself. It's not so scary."
