The enthralling heavens shimmered above the Dragon Kingdom. Songbirds sang angelic melodies. All seemed right within the otherworldly realm. The King and Queen of the Dragon Kingdom were enjoying an intimate meal. It was such a lovely morning. King Toothless and Queen Moon Shadow were relishing their breakfast on the veranda.
They hadn't had any alone time for several months. So, therefore, they took advantage of any opportunity to be alone. After all, when you've ten children and are responsible for an entire empire. It didn't leave much time to be a couple.
"I'm elated the kitchen could recreate some of the incredible meals our friends the Haddocks brought last time they visited," Queen Moon Shadow purred in satisfaction.
"Yes, these hash browns are quite delicious. But, I also have to say I've enjoyed these wonderful croissants," answered her fine-looking spouse.
"Yes, I'm enjoying these fruit smoothies that Princess Una taught us to make. They're quite mouthwatering. Plus, particularly sweet," his ravishing wife replied with a smile.
"So, how do you think our friends are doing? It's been quite some time since they visited. The last time they visited was to inform us of the demise of a monarch. I've been missing my best friend," the sovereign lamented. It didn't matter what world or form. Toothless and Hiccup were meant to be together. Two halves of the same whole.
"Yes, their visits have been spread far and between," Queen Moon Shadow replied unhappily. Then, taking a moment to compose herself, "I'm eternally grateful Princess Una helped when there was that disagreement.
Do you remember? It was whether I should enforce an abortion ban. For someone so young, she's incredibly wise. However, we long agreed Crown Prince Hiccup and his younger siblings are wise beyond their years."
"Yes," Toothless agreed. He took her hand in his, "They're honestly unique souls, without a doubt. So, is there any other business I need to know of? Since I'm striving to be the most suitable king I can be."
His queen gazed lovingly into his big green eyes, "You should remember you are a father and husband first. You're a monarch second," the queen regnant sternly reminded him. Pausing to take another sip of her smoothie before resuming, " However, I've been working with Deadly Siren to fight for the legal rights of biracial partners."
Using a napkin to wipe crumbs from his face, he replied, "Hmm, I know that's been a significant issue with the council for some time. Have you made any improvement regarding the issue?"
She pushed her smoothie away. Then, tugging at her braids, she finally answered, "Truthfully, love? We've not made too much advancement. We would presumably make more advancement if so many citizens weren't close-minded.
After all, Draco Beings and humans only have a five percent difference in DNA. Crown Prince Hiccup even pointed out that's nearly the same as humans and chimpanzees.
Either way? I'm incredibly aggrieved by those who consider inter-species marriages a crime against nature. Or that these children should be treated like pariahs. It's frankly appalling," the silver-eyed female monarch declared.
Her husband shared a similar expression of disdain. "We agree, beloved. I also wish racial discrimination and closed-minded thinking would have disappeared. I knighted Deadly Siren's husband myself. I would've anticipated it after the last five years. We would've grown much more as individuals," the male monarch commented dejectedly.
"Change takes time, beloved. Transforming the minds and hearts of individuals remains one of the most difficult challenges. We cannot overlook how humans and Draco Beings were locked in endless warfare for centuries," his enthralling queen regnant reminded him gently.
"Only for our saviors, Crown Prince Hiccup, Prince Boden, and Princess Una, to help start us on the path of healing and redemption. They've done countless miracles for our domain. They even helped reunite the heavenly royal family! That is one of their most impressive feats to date!" Toothless stated proudly of his friend's family achievements.
"Yes, restoring Prince Aaron Morningstar to his rightful place in the heavens. I agree it was awe-inspiring," the angelic sovereign agreed. She twisted another braid before resuming, "However, we still have a ways to go before we heal all the old wounds between our people and the humans."
"Yes, it'd be more manageable if the royal earth family could visit more frequently," her co-ruler acknowledged. "Yet, they've their own hardships to take care of. So, I hope we can settle on an arrangement that works for everyone."
"Yes, without them or the godly clan? Our kingdom will again be doomed to descend into chaos and strife," his wife replied matter of factly.
"My greatest wish for when our children take the throne is they can work together. The fact we've ten children is astonishing!" Toothless replied offhandedly.
"Well, its only because we can carry more babies then humans. Since we evolved from dragons into humanoid beings. Thanks again to White King and Silver Queen," Queen Moon Shadow reminded him.
She also gave him a look that reminded him it hadn't been an effortless pregnancy. He offered her an apologetic look which softened her expression. He gave her his trademark smile. "Yes, that's true. So is there anything else we should discuss? Its so problematic sometimes to remember everything going on."
"I'm getting the sense that the royal Earth family will visit shortly. They intended to visit to update us on their world's politics. But, again, we can only improve all three realms through cooperation."
The handsome king could only nod. Then he replied halfheartedly, "Yes, they stated the nation surrounding their small country was having midterm elections. I can only imagine how that will influence their world."
This statement caused the queen to shiver in terror. "I pray no more diabolical humans can achieve power once more. It was alarming when they described the circumstances of that insurrection. I pray we never endure that medieval battle in our own kingdom."
"No, I wouldn't want to be part of that horror show either," her husband replied firmly. Then in a lighter tone, "Thankfully, we've been maturing into a constitutional monarchy. Which in the long run will better benefit our kingdom."
"Yes, I hope we will unite both races and achieve the desired outcomes by offering the citizens more of a voice in the kingdom. We should still consult Mage Azure to know if we should expect any visitors soon," his consort advised.
"Yes, we should. How about a stroll through the flower gardens before we attend to our royal responsibilities? The crystal roses should be blooming now," he offered her his hand.
She smiled widely and took his hand. "Crystal roses seldom bloom. So seeing them before they wither is crucial. So let's go, my husband!" with that, the royal Night Furies left for the royal gardens.
