Sorry for the rather late uptade, I´ve gotten very busy today. Nevertheless… here is an extra large chapter as a reward for the wait. With answers to some questions you may have.

"Oh my god, you really are the prince of Monsters."

Those words made Flowey look down, his petals covering his face so no one could tell what expression the flower was wearing. After a while Flowey answered with an: "You're right. I WAS the prince of Monsters. Asriel Dreemurr." He started laughing.

"Flowey?"

Flowey's laughter grew louder and more psychotic and he suddenly snapped his head up. Everyone backed away from him, as the flower's face had taken on demonic traits. His voice sounded distorted as he began to speak.

"Do you have any idea how it feels to live with the fact that you're not what you're supposed to be? And that you'll never be the same again? How you try to distract yourself from that fact but some IDIOT reminds you!?"

Emily whimpered at the word IDIOT.

"I-I-I don't u-understand…" Lara was confused and admittedly horrified by these sudden changes of someone she started to consider a friend.

"Pfhahahaha! Of course not, nobody does!"

The flower interrupted himself with another fit of laughter.

"Flowey, or Asriel, please just tell me-" "DON´T CALL ME THAT!"

Lara flinched as the flower interrupted her loudly. She felt her hands shaking. She was confused, scared and Flowey´s aggressive tone caused some unpleasant memories to resurface.

"I´m not Asriel. Not in this form. I am nothing but a soulless husk, retaining the memories of a live I can never have again. You want to know why I remained down here? BECAUSE I DON'T DESERVE A HAPPY ENDING! BECAUSE I WOULD TAKE THE HAPPINESS OF OTHERS AWAY. Just like I did before."

The last part was hissed in a quit, bitter, cynical tone. But despite that, despite her being scared, Lara took a step towards the flower.

"Why do you say that, you have been nothing but kind to me…"

"And it was nothing more than a hoax. But of course you don't want to believe me. That I hurt others. That I wanted to strangle you while you were still unconscious."

Lara turned pale. "W-what?"

Everyone seemed shocked by this statement. Even Flowey himself, but he quickly regained his cynical, demonic smile.

"Yes it is true. I am nothing more than a sadist, a MURDERER! You naivling may not want to believe it, but you should just STAY AWAY FROM ME!"

Thorny vines shot out of the ground. Their sudden appearance caused Lara to recoil in shock. She tripped over her own feet and fell onto her back.

"I... what... why... I..." Lara stammered while staring at Flowey with teary eyes. The situation became too much for her.

The fearful, betrayed look in her eyes made Flowey ache inside. He didn't understand this sensation, didn't understand how or why it was there. And this only irritated him further.

His vines trembled. Assuming the worst, Klyde floated in front of Lara, taking a protective stand while magic crackled around him, ready to form his respective weapons. Emma did the same to Emily.

"Flowey, listen. I know what Emily did wasn't cool, but you have to keep it together. Lara is right, you have been nothing but kind and helpful towards her. And you may not mean it like you think you should, but you still had the right intentions. And she was also being nice towards you. So don't lash out towards her because you got issues!"

"Issues?! You know that I literally don't care! I CAN´T!"

"Oh really?", asked Emma. "Then why were you clearly conflicted when you admitted to Lara that you almost killed her."

The Flower turned towards the ghost. Her hands were also slightly shaking, but her eyes kept a resolved and firm look on Flowey.

"Yes, I noticed. Your shocked expression. And during most of this journey you have been to genuine to just pretend all of your feelings." Emma pointed at Lara, who didn't noticed that she had started to cry as her emotions overwhelmed her. They ghost girl continued: "Look at her and say you don't care. How you´re scaring and hurting her."

Flowey didn't say anything. He just kept looking towards Lara, while feeling again this sensation inside of him. Something resonated in Flowey.

And it was answer enough for the flower to realize that Emma was right. He… he was… he was really…

"I really am a miserable creature."

His vines retreated and Flowey hung his head down like a dying flower.

The sight caused both Emma and Klyde to relax and dissolve their magic. The former went with Emily towards the orange ghost and Lara, who still had tears running down her face. She just kept looking towards Flowey. Her posture was tense and her eyes had a wide, almost panicky look in them.

"Why… why did he…"

"Hey Lara. Look at me", Emma said in a shooting voice. The with souled girl did so. Right now she reminded Emma so much of her younger brother, but the ghost girl knew she couldn't let herself be overwhelm by her own emotions and memories. Instead she keep her focus on the girl that needed her help now.

"I know what happened right now was… extreme. But were here for you. We are here for you."

"But…"

"You are right, you know? Flowey and Asriel are one and the same, but that is a tale for later. Right now the important thing is to calm down. Can you do that for me?"

Lara tried to respond, but her throat tightened and her breath was all shaky.

"Try to breath and relax. In and out. And remember: were all here for you."

The white souled girl followed Emma's instruction. Klyde also coated his own hands in magic and gently massaged Lara's shoulders, which at first made her flinch, but then she relaxed significantly.

After a while her eyelids grew heavy and her posture completely went limb, as her mind drifted to sleep. Klyde laid her gently towards the ground.

"Didn't think she would just fall asleep", he muttered quietly, not to wake her.

"I´m not surprised. She has been trough a lot down here. And unlike us she doesn't have the experience with encountering someone who could be… a potential killer."

Emma gave Flowey, who hadn't moved and inch from his down looking position the whole time, a serious look.

"Guys, I´m sorry. I should have shut up instead of blabbering everything that came into my mind." Emily looked regretfully at both Lara and Flowey. Emma sighed.

"You… yeah you kinda messed up. But in the end you were scared, for yourself and us other humans, and didn't now better."

"But I think she should apologize. Just in case", Klyde noted.

The ghost trio looked towards Flowey, still unmoving. Emily looked scarred, but she knew that she needed to show that her apology was honest. She slowly glided towards the flower, stopping just a few centimeters away from him.

"Flowey… I am sorry. I didn't want to hurt you and expose you like that. You know if I could reset, I would undo my mistake and let you open up towards Lara on your own terms. Or not tell her anything, whatever you would have wanted. But I´m really sorry I took that choice away from you. If there is anything I can do to make it up towards you, I will do it. You just have to ask."

Silence followed after that. Emily, squirming uncomfortable in the air, unsure to whether to return to her fellow ghosts around Lara or remain in front of Flowey. But then she heard a quite:

"Emily… thank you. And I´m sorry as well. For… everything."

Lara stirred in her sleep and finally woke up. Her eyes met Flowey's. She flinched and straightened up, ready to back away, but the flower quickly called out:

"I know, I know, but I won't hurt you! Trust me."

Lara stared at him anxiously for a moment before her gaze hardened.

"Oh really? And what was that just now? With that thing you did to your face or those oversized thorny tendrils? …I tried to ask what was going on, but you yelled at me and threatened me!"

Flowey looked away guiltily.

"I know. And I'm sorry. I'm sorry you had to see that."

Lara opened her mouth, but didn't know what to say. So she closed it again. There was an awkward silence between the two. The human of the duo noticed that the ghost weren't there. Her position tensed visibly.

"Where are Emma, Emily and Klyde?"

"Went further ahead to explore the rest of the route. Emily said she heard something strange so they went to check."

"..."

"I know you don't want to be alone with me, but I won't hurt you. I swear."

Lara looked down.

"And what meaning does that promise hold?"

Flowey flinched at the bitter tone the human girl was using.

"I started to think of you as a... friend, but then you have..." She waved a hand at Flowey. "... done THAT. And apparently you seem to be the prince of the monsters? I don't know what to think right now."

"I can understand if it's overwhelming for you. I really do. But I can explain everything to you and will answer any of your questions as best as I can." Flowey gave Lara a hesitant smile. "What do you think?"

She did not say anything. But after a while, Lara looked at the flower with... expectation? Curiosity? He couldn't quite name it. Nonetheless, Flowey began to talk.

"As you guessed right, I was once the prince of Monsters, Asriel. I had a nice life down here with my family. And one day it grew to one more member when the first human fell down here."

"Chara. In the newspaper article you two were described as best friends", Lara mumbled. Flowey nodded to her.

"Yeah, although looking back, she wasn't the best friend. Or the best person. But that wasn't entirely her fault."

"What do you mean?"

"Chara hated humanity. That's why she climbed MT. Ebott. She hadn't said why she harbored this hatred. But sometimes I could see her scars."

Lara's face twisted.

"Yeah, I always assumed the worst. Chara definitely carried some issues from her experiences. But despite all, I was also able to share many great moments with her and I do not regret having her as my sister."

All along, Lara had been watching Flowey with a tense posture. But when he said those words, she relaxed. She gave him a sympathetic look.

"Then it must have been hard for you when she died of her illness."

"That's the thing. Chara wasn't sick. She had poisoned herself."

"WHAT!"

"Like I said, she had some issues. She felt she owed the Monsters the freedom for everything we gave her. And, while she never said it openly, I think she hated herself for being a human. I… I wish I could have helped her better. Maybe then we both wouldn't have died."

Lara gave Flowey a worried look.

"You see, Chara's plan was that, after her death, I would absorb her soul and pass through the barrier. And gather six more souls and destroy the barrier. But when we got to the village and people got scared by our appearance, something snapped in Chara. Her hate... I've never felt anything so bad. But at the same time I came to the realization that I had to protect my sister and the other humans from this hatred. Otherwise things would only get worse. You have to know, Chara wanted to take control and kill everyone. But I stopped her. I pushed her back and brought us back to the Underground. Her hatred then turned on me and...well, I spent the last few seconds of my life being yelled at."

Lara, whose eyes had gotten bigger and wetter with every single word, broke out in a choked voice: "That... that sounds terrible. I... I'm sorry Flowey. Now I can understand why you reacted so badly."

The flower just shook its head.

"Don´t. Don´t apologize. I do not deserve it. Because you see… when I was brought back to life via an experiment… how do I say this? I was, simply put, messed up. As a flower I´m soulless. Yes, you heard right. Unlike you or Emma or any other person, I do not have a soul. There is just a numb void of where my emotions should be. My life. But that wasn't all. You see, I discovered a new ability of mine…"

Flowey bit his lips. How should he explain this?

"What kind of ability, Flowey?"

"It… look, I can´t proof it and I know it will sound absolutely ridiculous… but I discovered I could reset time."

It took a while before Lara really realized what Flowey meant.

"Wait, you mean time travel? YOU CAN TIME TRAVEL? How..."

She was about to ask if he was kidding her, but the flower gave her a serious look while looking straight into her eyes.

"You're serious. You really want to tell me that you were given the magic to control time?"

"I know how that sounds. And unfortunately I can't prove it anymore. But you have to believe me. Oh and it's not strictly magic. After some research I was able to do, I found out that the CORE with its energies has a created an instability in the space-time continuum, an anomaly, which I was somehow able to control with determination gained from the aforementioned experiment."

"I… uh… alright- no WAIT! Whats the CORE?"

"Oh right. It's basically a giant generator that can convert geothermal energies into magical electricity. If we go deeper into the Underground, you will see it. It's a marvel of technology and magic."

"All right... But if you could control the time, why didn't you prevent Chara's plan?"

"I tried. Believe me, I have tried so hard. But I could only reset until the time I got control over the anomaly. Which was the moment I came back as a flower. And I could only travel to past points in time. The reset-anomaly was rather limited to be honest. Unfortunately it still enabled me to erase even the worst mistakes that I could make as a flower. So… being soulless, waking up from a traumatic death and getting into a power trip with my new ability…"

He didn't want to say it, but one look at Lara and he could see she was already beginning to piece everything together. And after what she had to witness, she deserved to hear everything he did.

"… I committed countless horrible atrocities. I lied. I murdered. I tortured and manipulated people for my own amusement."

Lara flinched. The white souled human moved unconsciously away from Flowey, but he didn't mind. But he did mind the look she gave him. Disbelief. Shock. Confusion. Fear. And many other feelings that Flowey wished he could respond to, to emote them himself. But alas, there was just an ache.

He looked down.

"I already told you. When you fell down here and were unconscious, I had thoughts to strangle you. Because I am that used and numbed towards killing."

Flowey couldn't look into her eyes. He could only bow down and wait for the barrage of hateful and disgusted words she had towards a miserably creature like him. Whatever she would say, whatever she would do, Flowey would just take it and then leave.

The ghosts would take care of her and lead the white souled girl out of the Underground. They would be better and safer friends for her than he ever could.

"Why didn't you?"

Confused, Flowey looked up. "What?"

"If you are into killing so much, then why didn't you kill me. I WAS unconscious. I couldn't have done anything to protect myself. You could have done anything you wanted. Instead you woke me up and started to explain everything to me. Just like you did now. And after that you helped me trough the underground. And Emma was right, you seemed, no, you seem so emotional at times. If you really are this terrible… what changed? Why help me? Why tell me all of this?"

That was a good question, wasn't it?

What had changed? Though he was far from being Asriel, even Flowey had to admit that there was something different about him. Since the journey began, there was something resonating within the flower.

No… not just since the beginning of the journey. Since…

Flowey´s eyes slightly widened.

"Could it be?", he muttered in a quit but surprised voice.

"What could be?"

"I… I think something must have changed when I broke the barrier."

"Wait, YOU were the one to break the barrier? I thought the power of six humans souls and all human souls were united to destroy it!"

A small smile appeared on Flowey face.

"Well, who do you think united all of that power? Since I am neither human nor Monster, I can absorb power from both races. You see, when the final human fell down here, I, for some reason, believed her to be Chara. Don't ask why. I was… really not right in the head back then. Anyway, I decided to meet `Chara´ only in my true form. So I managed to absorb all monsters and the souls of Klyde, Emma, Emily and the other death human children. With all that power I became Asriel. And basically a god. And since I was messed up, I started to terrorize the human. But she managed to get trough to me. With all the souls in me, I had all of my emotions back. I could finally do the right thing. I used my powers to free my kind and return the souls to their bodies. Or accidentally creating new bodies for the humans. I guess I have been severely underestimating the abilities of a god. But I believe all the souls, all that power of life in me, might have given me some semblance of a soul back."

"So you are not entirely soulless anymore?"

"I guess. I'm not sure. Are you believing me? And I mean all of the stuff I have been telling you?"

For a while, Lara remained silent. She rubbed her arm, her mouth opening and closing. After some time, she found the right words.

"I can't really believe you were THAT bad. I know I basically got a glimpse of that side of you. And it scared me a lot. But to me, you're still the flower that helped me. Who stayed by my side and tried to bring me back to the surface even though I'm just a stranger. Maybe it's because I can't really grasp this whole reset thing, but I... still see you as someone I'd want to be friend with."

"R-really? You…" Flowey expected anything BUT these kind words. "Heh… that's so sappy. And I know for a fact, if I had a whole soul, I would be a crying mess right now."

That caused Lara to laugh. "What? Really?"

Flowey smirked. "Yeah, I used to be a crybaby. A total weenie."

"Oh come on. Boys that share openly their emotions are much cooler than these wannabe tough guys."

"Really? I… I never heard of anything like that."

It grew quiet between the two. But this silence wasn't really uncomfortable.

"So…" Flowey began. "We´re good?"

"I… yes. We´re good."

"Well then, if that´s the case and you still see me as a potential friend, I will try my best to help you get out of here."

"Thank you, Flowey. By the way, now that we are talking about getting out: what happened to the final human? The one that you thought was Chara, but managed to better you? I don't think I have catched on what happened to them."

"I'm pretty sure she lives with my mom. She seemed to be looking for a home and also promised to take care of my parents. Now that I think about it, you two actually look a lot alike. But I'm not really sure if that means anything. After all, I-"

"Wait a minute", Lara interrupted the flower. She suddenly became very serious. Her brow furrowed as a thought struck the human girl.

"Flowey, was the girl's name Frisk?"

The flower looked at her with surprise. "How do you know her name?"

It was like flipping a switch. Lara went from calm to crazy in an instant. She freaked out completely. She jumped forward, grabbed Flowey by the stem and started shaking him. The poor flower didn't know what was happening to him.

"YOU MET FRISK, EVEN KNOW HER! WHY DID YOU NOT TELL ME?", Lara screamed with a borderline manic look.

"H-help!" Was the only thing he could get out.

Flowey cried out for help. But nobody came.

Luckily for Flowey, Lara realized what she was doing and let him go. She drew back, startled, and raised her hands towards Flowey, but seemed unsure what to do with them.

"Flowey I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to hurt you but you know I reallymissherandIhaven'tseenherinalongtimeandI'mreallyworried..."

Lara's words became incomprehensible as she spoke faster and faster in her panic. After a while, when Flowey became a bit less dazed, he said: "Lara?"

The white souled girl interrupted her rant.

"Yes?"

"Please shut up for a second. I need a moment, before everything stops spinning."

"I… uh… uhm… okay." Some seconds later she added a quite "I'm sorry."

After Flowey regained his focus, he looked at Lara.

"Okay, what the hell was that?"

She gave him an apologetic look. She ran her fingers through her hair and sighed. "I'm sorry I freaked out like that. It's just... I just need to know what happened to Frisk. It is very important to me."

"Phew, you're asking me something. I really don't know where to start with Frisk. But how do you know her? Why is she important to you?"

Lara's look changed from apologetic to 'well duh'.

"Isn't it obvious? She is my sister. My twin to be exact."

Flowey looked at Lara. Summoned Frisks image in front of his inner eye. Compared the two with each other. And suddenly felt very stupid.

So much of being a time traveling mastermind.

"Okay, please slap me. I deserve it."

"No. But tell me what happened to my sister. You said you terrorized her… as a god?!"

Flowey knew, even if he still had said god powers, he would still shiver under the gaze that Lara gave him.

"L-look, let me explain."

And so he did. He told Lara about how Frisks fall into the Underground caused him to lose the control over the reset-anomaly. How she traveled trough the place and befriended monsterkind. How she fought him in two separated timelines and won, helping him seeing the light again. And how Frisk ended up being together with all the friends and potential family she made. In the end, Flowey expected to be jumped at again. But no, Lara just fell relieved on her back and started laughing. It was no manic sound, but one of pure joy and relief. The white souled girl even started to choke up a bit.

"She is alive. No, she isn't just alive, she is happy and well."

This knowledge… this image of her sister being happy and the possibility of reuniting with her…

It filled Lara with HOPE for the future. She sat up and looked up towards the ceiling.

"I will find you sis! We will be together again! And this time no one´s gonna separate us!"

"Well… someone´s happy", said Flowey, a bit overwhelmed. Lara turned towards him and gave him a bright smile.

"Thank you Flowey. Thank you so much for telling me."

Wow, I really just turned her into the happiest person in the world, the Flowey thought. He couldn't help but chuckle a bit.

"Well, I guess you're welcome. But if I may ask, how come you two were separated."

Lara's happy mood disappeared. She pulled her legs towards herself and hugged them.

"Lara?" Flowey burrowed underground and regrow right beside the human girl.

"Are you okay? If it causes you… this kind of discomfort, then you don't have to tell me."

She gave him a sad look and shook her head.

"No. You have been honest with me with your past. It is only fair, when I tell you mine. I wanted to tell you anyway, before we had found Emily."

The human girl with the white soul took a shaky breath. Then she started to explain.

"Me and Frisk have lived in an orphanage for as long as we can remember. It really wasn't the best place. We only had the two of us. No one else really cared about us or any of the other kids. The educators took care of us in a distant way. The two of us were alone. But that was enough. We always took care of each other, helped the other out. Being with Frisk always managed to calm me down. But one day, Frisk was taken away by a couple. Only Frisk. I was left alone in the orphanage."

"Why?", Flowey asked, who had up until this point has only listened intently.

"They seemed to be interested in only one child. And for some reason they chose my sister. We tried to stay together, begged them to take me as well. Frisk even refused to go with them if they wouldn't adopt me as well." Lara sniffed while the memory resurfaced in her head.

"They just took her. No one did anything to stop them. It was one of the worst days of my life."

Flowey stayed silent. Unfortunately, he couldn't think of anything good to calm Lara down.

"After that I tried to figure out where the couple was from. But I was unsuccessful. I just didn't know what to do. I was so desperate. Weeks went by. Everything felt so irrelevant. And then I got lucky. Or unlucky. I´m still not sure how to describe it exactly. The couple came back. They told me Frisk was missing and wanted to know if i could help find her as I knew her best of all people. I was so excited to have a chance to see my sister again that I agreed."

"Something tells me that things went horrible."

Flowey knew he was right when he saw Lara's expression darken. He still flinched in surprise when the human girl loudly yelled: "They were disgusting!"

Her voice was filled with venom.

"After just one day, I knew immediately that Frisk hadn't just disappeared. She must have run away. These people treated me like a slave. I had to do what they told me or I was locked in my room and given nothing to eat. "

"No!" Now it was Flowey's expression that darken. "Did they anything else? If so, I swear I…"

"They didn't do anything else. Except yelling sometimes. About stuff of how I should obey them as a daughter."

Flowey wanted to ask where this couple lived so he could pay a visit to them. But no, he needed to focus on what´s important.

"Hey Lara, look at me. They can´t hurt you anymore. You are safe." He put a vine on her shoulder and looked deep into the girl's eyes.

"You're safe. And if these people or anyone else want to hurt you, they have to get past me. And the ghosts too. Even if they're not here, they're there for you. Especially as soon as they know about this."

Lara smiled slightly and wiped away the tears that had formed in the corners of her eyes.

"Thank you, Flowey. I really appreciate your support. And the others as well. Thank you all."

"Of course. But I may ask: Why didn't you just run away from this couple?"

"Because they were my only lead as to were Frisk could have gone. One day I got lucky. I could overhear them talking about the 'ungrateful girl'. At first I thought they meant me, but then I heard, `If she hadn´t run away to MT. Ebott had, then we wouldn't have to deal with her sister!' I wanted to listen more carefully, but they noticed me. They of course yelled at me and locked me in. But this time it wasn't so bad. I had hope this time. That I finally got a clue where my sister ended up. When my door was finally unlocked, I waited until nightfall. Then I snuck into their study room and used the computer to learn more about MT. Ebott. To be honest, I was really shocked by all the rumors. And the high probability that Frisk...

But I had only spent a week with these people. Frisk several. I could understand if she…

I mean… I actually want to live. But being without my sister, living at this horrible home…"

"Lara. Just stop. Just stop, okay?" Flowey said in a soft voice. "I get it now. I understand what you had to go trough and how you ended up here. But like I said, you are safe now. And not only will you see Frisk again, the both of you will finally have a place called home."

Lara blinked in confusion, not sure what the flower meant.

"I told you that Frisk lives with my mother. And knowing her, she has already adopted her. And she will certainly adopt you as soon as she finds out about your existence."

Lara looked uncertain.

"But unlike Frisk, I didn't befriend any of the Monsters or help destroy the barrier."

"That doesn't matter. My mom is unlike those pathetic individuals you have met. She sees a child in need of support and love and she will treat them like her own. Trust me. Chara was borderline feral towards my parents at the start, but soon she loved them deeply."

Lara still looked uncertain. But she decided to give Flowey a small, hesitant smile.

"If you say so."

"Trust me. Once you´re out of here, you will find happiness."

"I guess we shouldn't wait any longer then." Lara got up. "If Frisk is on the surface, then I want to get out of here as soon as possible. Also, we should check on the ghosts."

That comment made Flowey look thoughtful. His forehead wrinkled.

"Now that you mention it... They should have been back by now. There shouldn't be anything here to stop them. But if there is, then I'm genuinely concerned what might have happened."

Flowey started burrowing trough the earth. "Alright, follow me. Let's see what's going on with our friends."
