Author Note: I am a few days early with sharing my Thanksgiving story in which that I hope that you enjoy it. I recently started a Manifest story with you all and I hope that you go check it out. I wish that they would bring Numb3rs to Netflix but they haven't yet. This story is a sequel to Give me another chance which can be found on my other account "Carson fan". I am planning to do a sequel to this story on a later date.

Character Summary:

Don is engaged to Alyssa after five years of being apart. He is still an FBI agent. He is about to spend his first holiday with his daughter.

Alyssa is engaged to Don. She went back to teaching after a four-year break at the school. She is the mother of Emma.

Emma is about to turn four in a about a week after Thanksgiving. She is the daughter of Don and Alyssa.

The week before Thanksgiving

Don walked into the headquarters after being gone for about two weeks. Emma and Alyssa were both sick and he decided to stay home to take care of them.

"Hey welcome back." David said to his boss in a joking manner.

"It is good to be back now that both Alyssa and Emma are feeling better." Don said to his friend with a smile. "How were things here?"

"It was nice to be in charge while you were away." David responded to his friend and before Don had a chance to answer Colby walked into the room.

"He let it get to his head that he was in charge. I am happy that you are back even through David isn't." Colby said with a smile before giving Don a hug.

"Hey, I am happy that I don't have to do all that paperwork again after this case." David responded as he sat down.

"The paperwork is the worst thing about the job but at least I did not have a stack of it to do when I came back." Don revealed as he put his bag down. They all got to work while Don pulled out his phone to text Alyssa.

D: Have a great day and I will see you tonight. I love you.

He hit send and put down the phone. She responded after a few minutes.

A: Thank you and I will see you tonight. How was Emma with dropping her off at your dad's house?

David and Colby looked and saw that Don had a goofy smile on his face as he was texting back and forth to Alyssa.

"You know something, Don." Colby said to his boss. "It's nice to see that you are happy again."

"What are you talking about? I have always been happy." Don responded to him.

"Not since I joined the team. I did not see it until Alyssa came back into your life." Colby said to him as David agree with what he was saying.

They finally got a case around 1pm and since Don did not know what time the case would be solved, he stepped out of the way to call her.

"Hey, it's me. I wanted to let you know that I might be working late. We just got a case and I hope that I will be done in time for dinner. I will do my best to keep you update." Don said to her on her voicemail since he knew that she was most likely teaching at the moment. He wanted to show her that he had changed his ways following their break-up a few years ago.

Alyssa was working when she had a chance to check her phone. She listened to Don's voicemail when her friend came into the classroom.

"Hey, how is things with Don?" Her friend asked. She was there back when Alyssa was having a hard time with Don a few years ago.

"It seems to be going good now that we are a little bit older and can talk things out. He is trying to make things better." Alyssa responded to her.

"Well, I am glad that it's working." She responded to her.

"Me too." Alyssa said as she smiled at her friend.

"So, what are your plans for Thanksgiving?" Her friend asked her with a smile.

"We are going to Allan's house and enjoy some family time. Did you know that Charlie has a girlfriend?" Alyssa said to her with a smile. "I am hoping that they get engaged before Christmas. They are very cute together."

"I did know that they were dating. Do you think that Don is ready to take the step with you and your daughter?" Her friend asked her.

"I am not sure what he is feeling but I hope that it's soon." Alyssa responded before they went back to work.

After work, Alyssa was happy to go pick up her daughter and hear about her day with her grandfather. She pulled into the driveway and went inside of the house.

"Mommy!" Emma yelled as she came running towards her mother.

"Hey baby girl." She said as she bent down next to her daughter. "How was your day with Grandpa?"

"It was fun, but I thought that daddy was going to pick me up." She said to her mother.

"He was but he had a case that he had to take off. We will see him at home when he gets there." Alyssa revealed to her daughter.

"Okay mommy." Emma said to her mother with a smile. "Can we get pizza?"

"I don't see why not." She responded to her daughter with a smile. They loaded up into the car and headed to get pizza.

Meanwhile at FBI headquarters, the team was able to get the case done before eight pm. Don and his team walked out to go to the parking lot.

"Have a great night guys. Enjoy your day off, tomorrow." Don responded to his team with a smile. He headed home and was surprised to see that Emma had already gone to bed. He went upstairs to her bedroom to give her a good night kiss before heading to find Alyssa.

"Hey, you." Alyssa said to her boyfriend. "How was the case?"

"It was fine, but I am glad that it is over." Don responded to her with a smile before they headed to bed.

The night before Thanksgiving

Don and Alyssa were setting up the house for Thanksgiving. They had invited both sides of the family there to celebrate their first Thanksgiving together again.

"So, what is the team doing for Thanksgiving?" Alyssa asked him with a smile.

"They are with their families just like I am." Don responded to her with a small kiss.

They managed to get all the Thanksgiving decorations up before calling it a night. They knew that they had to put the turkey in the oven pretty early. Emma had stayed the night at Allan's house.

Thanksgiving

"Don, they are going to be here in just a little bit." Alyssa said to her boyfriend.

"We got everything ready but there is just one more thing that I need to do but I need you to come with me." Don responded to her with a smile.

"What do you mean? We got everything off the list done and now we can relax for a bit." Alyssa revealed as she followed him outside. "Don, where are we going?

"You will see in just a little bit." Don responded to her with a smile. He led her down to the backyard where there was a very special guest with an important question to ask.

"Alyssa, you and Emma mean everything to me. After five years apart and one year together as a family, I know that I want to make it up to you for my past mistakes. I know that I was not the best husband but if you will have me again to be your husband, I am willing to make it up to you, but you have to say yes. Will you marry me?" Don asked her.

"Yes, of course. I will marry you." Alyssa responded with a smile on her face. She could not believe that they were making this big step again.

They enjoyed Thanksgiving with their entire family. She knew that it was time to start planning for their wedding.
