I Love You a Thousand Ways
Summary: It's the first anniversary of the day Miranda and Sofia become a queen and princess respectively and Roland couldn't be happier. For STF ship appreciation week day six- Anniversary.
It surprised him how Amber and James both had plans the weekend of Miranda and Sofia's first year in the castle. While it'd sadden him at first, he brightened at the opportunity to have both of his girls to himself.
The love of his life and the daughter he cherished dearly.
He'd asked Baileywick to clear his, Miranda, and Sofia's schedules for the day as Roland watched Sofia rub her eyes sleepily, attempting to block out the morning sunlight.
"Hi Dad," she yawned, stretching her arms. "What's going on?"
"Sofia, sweetheart, do you know what today is?" Roland asked.
"Saturday?"
"Yes it is but today's a very special day. Do you know why?"
"A year ago, Mom and I came to live here with you," Sofia mummered, smiling softly. "I'm just sad Amber and James couldn't be here to celebrate with us."
"So am I," Roland agreed. "But I have a special surprise for you and your mother so get dressed and meet me in the banquet hall."
Sofia nodded, still sleepy as she adjusted to the morning sunlight streaming down her face.
Roland chuckled, kissing her forehead affectionately before leaving her bedchamber.
Patiently, he waited for her and Miranda to arrive, smiling softly as he heard his wife gasp in surprise.
"Rollie, what is all this?" Miranda asked.
"Is this our surprise?" Sofia smiled.
"Can't a king spoil his wife and daughter with a breakfast of their favorite foods every now and then?" Roland teased.
Mother and daughter shook their heads as they sat across from each other, eating their breakfast silently.
Roland clinked his cup with his spoon, clearing his throat. "Miranda, Sofia, one year ago you became part of my family as my wife and daughter and I couldn't be more proud so today we'll do whatever you want to do."
"Oh Rollie! How sweet!" Miranda smiled.
"Thank you Dad!" Sofia added. She smiled as she touched his hand with hers. "I wouldn't want you to feel left out so we'll do whatever you want to do."
Roland smiled, putting a hand on her shoulder. "Sofia, the only thing I want to do today is spend time together as a family. Amber and James may not be here to enjoy today with the three of us, but we'll tell them all about it when they get home tomorrow."
Sofia beamed, watching as Miranda gave Roland a warm smile before resuming devouring her breakfast.
She couldn't wait to see what the rest of the day had in store for them. Her dad knew her and her mom well enough by now to know what either of them enjoyed so whatever Roland had planned for her and Miranda, they would enjoy it.
No matter what.
