Part 1- Rain
Chapter 3- Trust
"It's been a long time you two." Stated a woman in front of a desk.
This woman was extremely beautiful, with fair skin and luscious brown eyes. Her long pale blonde hair reached their lower back as it parted to frame her heart-shaped face. And on her forehead was a violet diamond shape. While her attire consisted of a gray kimono style shirt under a grass green haori.
"Your training proved to be fruitful, I hope?" She asked.
Naruto scoffed, "you think we would've come back without producing any results?" He asked sarcastically, as he crossed his arms. "C'mon Grandma."
Tsunade leaned forward on her desk. "Huh? I'm glad to hear it. Show me what you got, kid." She requested.
"What right now?" He asked, before quickly complying. "Okay."
Naruto then raised a single finger, as a heavy aura filled the room. Sending many of the inexperienced ninja to the floor in an instant.
'What… what is this?' Sakura thought in shock. It felt as if she were being buried alive. Was this aura just her teammates' chakra?
Shizune, Tsunade's assistant, and a normal looking woman with short brown hair, wasn't fairing much better. 'Is this... is this Naruto?' She tried to ask, but no words reached her mouthZ
The Intense weight suddenly stopped, as a hand fell upon Naruto's shoulder. Jiraiya shook his head, signaling his disapproval, as Naruto frowned.
Tsunade took a deep breath, as sweat fell from her brow. "While that was…. Impressive. I was thinking more along the lines of setting you up in a battle. Should you choose to accept, of courseZ I've even kept your opponent off missions for the past few days so he'd be in peak condition."
"I think we'd better not." Jiraiya piped up. "I mean, it's been a long trip, and we've been training for the past few years." He reasoned, as he turned towards Naruto. "Naruto, you deserve a break. Why don't you head home? I'm sure your apartment must be pretty dirty, you better get onto cleaning it now." He suggested.
Naruto raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure?" He asked, as he turned towards tsunade.
But the blonde woman only sighed, as she waved him off. "Go." She told him.
Naruto shrugged,"Alright." As he pivoted on his heels and walked towards the exit.
But he abruptly stopped before he reached the door. "Oh, and… tell Kakashi I said hello." Naruto stated, as he left, passing by a frazzled Shikamaru and Temari.
Jiraiya then turned towards Sakura, was still recovering from Naruto's earlier burst of chakra, as she stood on shaking legs.
"You better head off too," he told her.
Normally, Sakura would disagree. But with her growing disarray, she could only nod as she quickly left the room. Leaving Jiraiya staring at her wake.
Just as a silver haired man with a blue face mask poked his head through the window. 'How did he know I was there?' He thought, as he sealed the window shut behind him. Casting a slight glance at the still stressed Hokage's assistant as he entered.
"Alright, Jiraiya, what the hell." Tsunade asked.
But the white haired man didn't answer immediately, as he continued to stare at the door intensely. As he abruptly turned to face the blonde Hokage.
"Hime, I think I messed up." He said in worry.
Tsunade narrowed her eyes, "what do you mean you 'messed up'?"
"I mean, I messed up." Jiraiya repeated, only adding to the busty kage's rage.
"Perhaps it would be better to start from the beginning." Kakashi suggested.
And Jiraiya nodded, before he took a deep breath and started to explain. "There are times when the nine-tails chakra starts to leak out of his body, we've been referring to it as the nine-tails cloak." He told them
"Nine-tails cloak," Kakashi repeated, having not heard this information before.
Jiraiya continued, "It takes on the fox's form. And the more tails he gains, the amount of the fox's chakra he takes in will increase."
Jiraiya reached for his shirt, as he loosened is and said, "in all my years of living, I've come close to death only twice." He told them, seemingly changing the subject, as he began removing both his shirt and the mesh underneath.
"Jiraiya you're not making any sense, what does 'that' story have to do with anything?" Tsunade asked
"I was getting to that, Hime," Jiraiya said, as he continued with his story. "The first time, six ribs, and both my arms were broken, and several of my internal organs were severely damaged. It happened when I was trying to peek at the girls in the hot springs, and tsunade beat the snot out of me. The second time…" he trailed off, as he finally removed his shirt, revealing the large scar underneath.
"… It was when I was training with Naruto and the fourth tail formed." Jiraiya informed.
"He manifested four tails?" Shizune said in surprise.
Jiraiya nodded. "He did a lot more than that."
"Over the course of our training trip, we tried experimenting with the Kyuubi's power. And I got the bright idea to loosen Minato's seal slightly, so Naruto could pull out more of its foul chakra… big mistake." Jiraiya told them "Naruto called on too much of the kyuubi's chakra, that's when he manifested four of his tails… I was barely able to stop it."
"While this does sound troubling, it currently isn't all too problematic." Tsunade stated.
"I was getting to that, hime," The sage told them, as he took a deep breath. " After Naruto came to, I began to notice he was acting… different."
"Different how?" Kakashi asked.
"He started to act smarter, sharper. But it was more than that, he seemed… darker almost." The sage told them.
"Darker how?" Tsunade asked.
"Don't get me wrong, he wasn't aggressive, but he wasn't quite his usual self. And on top of that, after the incident I was never able to sneak up on him again." Jiraiya stated.
"I see," Tsunade said, as she began rubbing her chin in thought. "I don't think we should do anything for now, but we should start keeping an eye on him." She told them.
"I agree." Kakashi stated.
"Yes, but…" Jiraiya trailed off.
"But?" Shizune asked.
"That's not all that happened." He told them.
Tsunade narrowed her eyes," Jiraiya…" she grit her teeth in anger, as she asked, "what aren't you telling us?"
And the toad sage took a deep breath, and told them the final bit of information. "Once I loosed the seal…
Naruto was able to fully control the Kyuubi's chakra."

(The next day)
Sakura Haruno walked through the streets of Konoha.
It had been some time since her teammate had returned to the village. And yet she couldn't shake herself from that feeling he gave off.
That aura he let out, the unimaginable power that leaked from his body. She knew her teammate would be powerful, after all, he too had spent the past three years training with a member of the Sanin.
And she knew that he would be different after his three years away, but had her teammate really changed that much?
She stopped in the middle of her tracks, right in the middle of the road.
Sure, her teammate was different, but he was still Naruto. Right?
Resolving herself, she turned on her heels. She headed straight for her teammate's apartment.
It wasn't long after that Sakura reached his door, and as she began to knock across his entrance. But she noticed that it was already unlocked, and it slid open with the barest of touches.
Had Naruto forgotten to lock his door? Or perhaps he left early in the morning in such a rush the thought of it hadn't even occurred to him.
'Honestly, he can be such a dunce sometimes,' she thought with a smile.
Maybe her teammate wasn't so different after all?
Opening the door, she resolved herself to help clean the blonde's apartment with him. It would be like an old D-rank mission. Maybe it could help them bond again over old times?
And as she looked around, she saw that his residence was already clean. But he couldn't have cleaned it all in one night, right?
Knowing him, he'd probably shoved everything in his bedroom… yeah, that was probably it.
Opening the door, she was met with the sight of her teammate lying across his bed, along with another girl.
She had luscious, long blue hair and pale milky eyes. She was definitely very beautiful.
Hinata, she realized.
Oh, and there was one more detail she skipped over…
They both were definitely very naked.
As their legs were both intertwined reminiscent of their night of passion.
Sakura bolted out of there as quickly as she could. Panting across Naruto's closed front door, her face was alight with a red flame.
She realized what her teammate had gotten into the night before. And she realized…
That her teammate had definitely changed very much.
XXX
Present.
A pale green glow emanated from Rin's hands as she tried to assist their fallen classmate.
Suddenly, Shirou turned his head, gazing at the entrance of the school, as an invisible chain launched straight at them.
"Tohsaka, look out!" Shirou's yelled, as he rushed to use his body to shield her.
Squelch
Rin recoiled in shock, as she looked to gaze upon her fellow magus.
Blood was splattered across the ground
"Wh-what is that?!" She asked in shock, as it appeared that a steel spike had embedded itself into Shirou's arm. But just she tried to observe, the weapon is quickly disappeared, only leaving the large wound in Shirou's arm behind. "Where did that—" she started, before quickly shaking off her surprise she addressed Shirou's wound.
"I mean, you're bleeding badly," she told him. "Does that hurt?" Rin questioned, but before she could get an answer, Shirou abruptly stood up.
"Oh, it hurts… it hurts like hell," he stated offhandedly, although he bit back a wince as he said it. Looking off into the distance.
"Tohsaka, take care of that girl," he told her, as he quickly rushed off towards the nearby woods.
Leaving Rin gaping at her fellow Magus's back.
XXX
Huffing from the pain of his injury, along with the fast dash he made here. He carefully observed the large woods that surrounded him, as he readied a makeshift sword stance with the metal pole he was carrying.
But even with his observations, he was only barely able to register as someone came crashing down upon him. And it was only sheer luck that he was able to block her oncoming assault.
As he only got a quick glance at the woman, she recoiled the long chains she was wielding as her long purple hair billowed out in the wind. Even just catching a small look at the woman, he could decidedly tell that she wasn't at all human.
"A servant!" Shirou stated in shock, as the woman jumped higher than any normal human could achieve, straight. "She vanished," he said, as he saw no detectable trace of the woman.
Suddenly a long spikes chain was sent at him so fast in which he was barely able to dodge, as it up heaved the ground it crashes into.
Quickly taking cover behind a nearby tree, he could only wait for the purple haired servant to show her face.
"I'm surprised. You aren't going to use a command seal?" The servant's voice asked, as it reverberated throughout the woods.
"Sorry, I don't have many left." Shirou reasoned.
"I see, unlike my own master, you have courage." The servant complimented. "In that case, I will take a different tactic. I will kill you gently." She told him.
It was then that she rocketed toward him at breakneck speeds. As Shirou blocked her initial strike, he was only barely able to stop the kick the servant sent as it knocked him back.
She then kicked again as she sent her chain directly at him.
Sparks flew through the air as he gritted his teeth when he blocked her coiling attack.
Keeping his distance, he said, "You're not very impressive compared to other Servants. You don't pack any punch," he noticed
And had his enemy not been wearing a blindfold, he would've likely seen her eyes narrow as she said, "No, this is the end for you."
She then raised her hand forward, as she stated just what kind of trap Shirou had stepped into, "You've been caught by me from the very beginning."
An invisible chain manifested itself in her open palm as she pulled back.
Just as pain was sent through the hole in Shirou's right hand as he was pulled upward. Leaving him hanging in the air.
As the Servant stalked forward, she couldn't even hold back her smirk as she said, "Now, then. What was that amusing thing that you were saying?"
Shirou struggled against his bindings, as he grit his teeth in pain. But to no avail, as the servant only got closer and closer.
"What was it?" She asked. "Something about me being inferior to other servants?" She recalled.
As Shirou readied his makeshift weapon to strike.
"That won't do at all," the servant said.
As he went to strike, the Servant was able to catch his wrist and twist him around, pinning his arm against his back.
She forcefully brought her other hand towards his eye, as he was utterly helpless to stop her.
"I'll begin with plucking out those eyes that are so badly mistaken. And then move on to the limbs to still have," she threatened.
When suddenly several bursts of black and red energy were shot straight at the Servant.
Several of which struck the metal chain that was holding Shirou in place, knocking him straight onto the hard dirt.
As she backed up to gain distance, she recoiled her chain. She then disappeared in a burst of purple energy.
"Emiya, are you okay?" Rin questioned, as
She quickly rushed toward her fellow Magus.
Shirou tried hoisting himself up from his sitting position, but Rin quickly stopped him. "We have to stop the bleeding," she told him.
As Rin reached towards Shirou's hand, she observed that his hand was fully drenched in blood.
"Emiya, do you have anything I can wrap it with?" She questioned.
"I have a handkerchief…" Shirou trailed off. As he pulled said rag out of his pocket. Although it probably wouldn't do all too well for his wound. "Sakura always puts one in my pocket," he told her, as he handed her said object.
"I don't have much either," Rin told him. "… but it's better than nothing," she reasoned.
As she pulled out another piece of cloth. "Together with my towel, the bleeding can at least be stopped for now." Rin told him.
"So that woman was a servant?" she asked, as she wrapped his wounds.
But she heard no response from her red-haired classmate. "Emiya?" She asked in confusion.
As she saw the boy's skin was staring to pale. As he started to become lightheaded.
"Emiya?" Rin questioned.
It wasn't soon after that he fell limp within her arms.
"Emiya…" she started trying to shake him awake.
"Emiya?… Shirou!"
XXX
(Emiya residence)
"Ouch," Shirou winced, as Rin led him across the street.
" It's your fault you know, if you hadn't gone off on your own we wouldn't have ended up in this mess." Rin said with a huff.
It wasn't long after Shirou passed out that he awoke once again.
After confirming that Shirou was indeed attacked by a servant, Shirou had been grilled out by Rin for foolishly going off on his own.
She then offered to take Shirou to her residence, but Shirou profusely declined. And that left them in the predicament they were in now.
As Shirou was draped across Rin's shoulder as he was limping back towards his own house.
"I know…" Shirou groaned, after hearing Rin's constant lectures he had decided it was much safer to just agree with what she was saying.
"Look, we're at your house, you just have to…" she stopped her train of thought. Because as she looked up… she caught the tail end of a harsh glare sent her way.
It surprised her so much that she nearly dropped Shirou where he stood.
"S-Sakura," Rin muttered out in shock.
As there, standing at the porch of Shirou's home, was the aforementioned purple haired girl… and she did not look happy.
Sakura quickly rushed towards Shirou's side.
"W-what are you doing?" Rin questioned out in surprise.
"Just leave him with me," Sakura snapped harshly. "And be quiet, you're only hurting him further."
Shirou stood there, so surprised that he could barely make anything out. He could never imagine that he could make Sakura so angry. She had always seemed so kind.
His body was sent into catatonics, as Sakura lead him inside.
XXX
"Look Sakura, I can—" Shirou tried to explain, but was squarely shut up by the purple haired girl's harsh glare. "Right… shutting up now."
"I can't believe you," Sakura told him. "You arrived late, yet again. We've been waiting her hours for you. Do you have any idea how worried we were." She motioned toward the open door, where both Rin and a worried and dissatisfied Saber stood.
"And to make matters worse is the fact that you show up like this," she motioned to the set of bandages she was tying around his arm.
"This wound seemed to have pierced through your entire arm, how do you even get a wound like that?" Sakura asked, although with her tone it was more like a demand.
Shirou looked directly into Sakura's firm, questioning eyes.
What could he tell her? Could he even tell her?
"I umm…" Shirou tried to come up with a plausible excuse to tell the girl.
But she interrupted his train of thought. "And to make matters worse, you won't even tell me why." Sakura tightened the bandages even more, causing him to wince slightly.
"Don't you trust me?" Sakura asked, the pain she felt being clear in her eyes.
And it was at that moment that Shirou looked down at shame. It felt like her words hurt worse than any blow he had felt that night.
"I'm done." Sakura stated, as she got up and headed towards the door. "Sakura, where are you going?" Shirou stated in worry.
"Out." She told him bluntly.
"B-but you can't, it's not safe out there." Shirou told him, as he rushed towards her, grabbing onto her shoulder.
But as Sakura turned around, the look she gave Shirou both sent shivers down his spine and frozen him in place in an instant.
"I don't care." She stated harshly, as she wrestled free from Shirou's grip as she walked past the door. But not before sending a quick glare towards Rin in the process.
Shirou just stood there, in the exact place Sakura had left him.
He realized he had disappointed two of the closest people within his life, and judging by the Saber's cold expression on her face as she crossed her arms, he was in for yet another lecture.
Honestly… he felt like shit.
XXX
Sakura was angry.
No, she wasn't just angry. She was mad, she was irritated. But most of all… she was disappointed.
She wanted to disappear. Wanted to run away as far as she could… but she couldn't.
All her legs could do was walk aimlessly as she was left to wallow in the thoughts within her head.
How could Shirou do this to her?
Right after school ended, she showed up at the Emiya residence, and using the key her upperclassmen gave her, she was able to get inside. There she once again met up with an anxious Saber, and after a brief exchange she had started to help clean up the house and prepare for dinner.
Honestly, she hadn't been that worried at all about her upperclassmen. Shirou often lost track of time helping others. But that was just the way he was.
But as the dinner she had prepared had gotten cold, and the sky had become dark when Shirou had arrived back at his residence.
And it looked like he had been through a battlefield; which, judging by the fact he was a master, probably wasn't far from the truth.
It looked like a long spike had pierced through his whole arm, and she saw faint chain marks along his skin.
She frowned. To her knowledge, there was only one servant who wielded a weapon such as that.
And after she tended to his wounds, and gave him a bit of a tongue lashing. She asked him how he got injured… he wouldn't tell her, he even tried to lie about it.
Just how many secrets would he keep from her?
But to make matters worse… Shirou showed up with her.
He showed up with Rin Tohsaka. Did that mean they were Allied within this war?
Of all the people he could be involved with, it had to be Rin Tohsaka. Why couldn't Rin just leave Shirou alone? After all, Rin had already taken enough from her… didn't she deserve something of her own?
Shirou was supposed to be hers.
That's how it was, from the moment she had laid eyes on him, she had always held this administration for him. He was her light. What she aspires to be like. He was the person she trusted more than any other. After all, Shirou would never hurt her, not like so many others.
So why? Why did seeing Rin with Shirou cause her so much pain?
"It is often the people closets to us that bring us the most amount of pain." The voice in the back of her head spoke.
An echo that would have once surprised her only brought her a small semblance of relief.
Because it was right.
Father. Mother. Rin. Uncle Kariya. Grandfather. Shinji. Shir— No!
She couldn't add him to the list of people who've betrayed her, not yet. Not after all he's done, she couldn't.
He wouldn't do that to her.
Stopping in her moment across the city, she observed where her wandering had led her.
Trash and garbage laid before her. The surrounding walls were narrow, as it appeared she was in a corridor, with pipes strewn about at all sides. No, not a corridor, as the dark starlight sky laid above her… she was in an alley.
The use of magic directed her attention to the side. As she spotted a brown haired girl, dressed in a school uniform not too dissimilar to the one she wore earlier that day.
The girl turned towards her, showing her dull brown eyes. As Sakura recognized the girl, Mirsuzuri, the captain of the archery club.
As her body was brought upwards, and a purple haired woman materialized behind the girl, holding her in place.
Rider.
"What a surprise, to think that you and I would meet again so soon." A voice said, as steps echoed through the alley. "Especially with the amount of time you've been spending at Emiya's, dear sister."
It was then that a blue haired boy stepped down from a nearby fire escape, and out of the shadows.
Shinji.
"It seems that your little trouble in paradise led you back to me, I knew it would." He said, as he held that ever present smirk across his face.
Sakura stepped back, but she quickly reaffirmed herself.
Unknown to the two, Sakura's eyes flashed red for only an instant.
And, after the purple-haired girl took a deep breath, she spoke to her brother. "You lied to me."
Shinji raised an eyebrow, "Lied to you?" He repeated. "I don't recall ever lying to you."
Sakura worked up her courage again. "You told me that if I gave you my servant, you would leave Shirou alone." She told him.
And the seaweed-haired boy actually seemed to contemplate her words, before smirking again. "But I did leave him alone. Emiya just decides to stick his neck out where It doesn't belong. I never would have imagined that he would become a master."
Sakura recoiled, the knowledge that Shirou was a master still bothered her.
"Even so," she paused, "we had a deal."
"Where's all this fire coming from?" Shinji questioned, changing the subject, as he moved closer to her, causing all other Sakura's built up courage ceased, as she back up away from the boy.
"You're usually so complacent. Is it Emiya that's making you act this way? Or is it something else?" Shinji asked.
"Even so…" He said, as continued making his way towards the girl, getting so close that he was but a hair's breadth away from her. Sakura could make no movements to stop her brother, as he leaned down close enough to whisper in her ear, smirking all the way.
"It's quite amusing. Because... you're starting to act like a true Matou." He told her, causing her to even further freeze in place.
As Shinji walked away from her, he turned his head to speak one final sentence. "Oh, and… Grandfather has been meaning to see you, it would be best to run along now." He said, as he left intro the shadows.
Rider soon after went to follow, turn back for only a second to look back at the purple haired girl.
Sakura paled. Grandfather wanted to see her?
That wasn't good.
XXX
Carefully instilled fear carried her steps.
And as she finally reached the gates of the Matou residence, she could hear the quiet chattering of the locusts that haunted her life. But her legs still pressed on.
An old man stepped out of the shadows as the gates opened. "So, you're finally back," he said.
Sakura bowed deeply, "I am, grandfather."
And Zouken nodded, "Come, we have much to do." He told her, as he walked off, he gave her one more bit of information. "It's time for you to 'journey' into the 'pit' once again." he told her.
Sakura quickly made to follow, but he eyes quickly flashed red as a voice voiced against it. "No, don't listen to him."
Don't listen to him? What was this voice talking about? She had seen what happened to those who didn't obey grandfather, she didn't have a choice in the matter.
After seeing Sakura's hesitation, Zouken told her once again, "come now, girl." He ordered, as he finally disappeared into the shadows.
"No! You can't." It told her once again. It was strange, the voice almost seemed... worried? No, that want it, she couldn't quite place the emotions the voice converted at the moment.
But Sakura could only ignore the voice in her head trying to dissuade her, as she soon went to follow.
All the while, the voice's discouragements kept gettin louder and louder within the girl's head.
But Sakura gave them no mind, after all... she didn't have a choice in the matter. Until finally, the voice stopped, and all became quiet once again.
… it wouldn't be until much later that Sakura were to re-enter the grail war.
End Chapter.
An: That's the end of the chapter. I finished off the first flashback, along with bringing up the reason as to why Sakura disappeared from the plot.
Naruto: the actual reason as to why Naruto has control over the Kyuubi's powers will be explained later, but it's also part of the reason as to why Naruto's personally seems to be slightly off.
Also, for the sake of plot, Naruto has the full kyuubi, no half kyuubi or any other bs.
Hinata: Yeah, they totally banged. And now, this wasn't done to make Naruto out to be a man-whore or anything like that. Naruto's relationship with Hinata has actual relevance to the plot.
Shinji: yeah, he might've seemed a bit out of character when Sakura tried fighting back. But that's mainly because he still felt that he was still in control, so he didn't get mad when Sakura built up a bit of courage.
The ending: In UBW, I'm pretty sure it was stated that Sakura was told by her family to stop staying at Shirou's house, after that point she stopped being relevant to the story and disappeared.
I decided to give a legitimate reason as to where she was for most of the story and why she disappeared. This will only be for a little while, but it's mainly, so I can skip over some of the main plot points to bring us to where I want the story to take place.
Next chapter: Should be a few scenes from canon, with some more original mixed in.
Question: I've been thinking about one-shots lately. In the future, once all this story is nearing its end maybe I'll write of of them.
Got any ideas as to what one shot Ishould write?
But as always, there's no guarantee I'll write it.
