Chapter 2: "Tales of the Boy Who Survives"
Everyone in the group sat around a fire at night underneath the roof of the Gas Station while Sky cooked everyone a meal and Snappy slept next to him with Riser still holding his family jewels while whimpering in pain.
It was a quiet time until Sky spoke up. "So, I'm sure you have questions, go ahead one at a time"
"I might not be the smartest person here, but um... Sky, was it?" Issei asked. "Yes."
"Is this place supposed to be North America or something? Before I forget, my name is Issei Hyoudou. You can call me Ise for short."
"Well, Ise, it's a long story" he said and got up to give each one a bowl of soup. "It starts to answer your Question yes, it is North America but not the one you know; you see there was a war and when I was a baby my mother was all I had after dad left and had to go into the vault..."
He then was cut off by Rias.
"I do apologize for interrupting, but you said something about a war. Do you know much about when it was fought and how it ended?" Rias asked.
He shakes his head. "Not much, I was only a baby and frozen with my mother when the bombs fell." His head lowers down in sorrow and Neither Sona nor Ravel could do nothing but feel guilt for him not knowing his father. Then Snappy rubs his head against Sky's leg in concern. Gasper then asks about how he survives in such a Hell.
"Tch, who cares about how he survives this? Riser says that we sho-" Riser questions and starts to rudely remark only for Ravel to jab him in the stomach with her elbow to shut him up. She then said, "I am sorry for my older brother's rudeness. Please tell me about how you survive in such an unforgiving environment such as this, Sky."
He puts his hand up. "It's alright, I met people like him, and they are either concerned about their own life." he looked at Riser with a death glare then Riser's heart stopped in fear. Sky then feeds Snappy a dead mole rat.
"And to answer your question...I Survived on something called S.P.E.C.I.A.L. It's weird but it's how I learned to survive and become immune to certain things and help in dire situations like-" He was cut off by Akeno.
"Like when a creature similar to yours showed up in front of us and we couldn't do anything to it?" Akeno asked.
Immediately after saying that, Kiba then asked, "Can we please stop interrupting him and let him continue talking?"
After a few moments of awkward silence, Kiba then stated to Sky, "I truly am sorry for my master and fellow allies interrupting you. I am Yuuto Kiba."
"A pleasure and yes, that creature is called a... Death claw." Everyone was shocked at such a name for a monster.
"W-Where did they c-come from?" Gasper asks hiding behind lssei for comfort.
"I wished you didn't ask that." He said and the others were concerned.
"They were created by humans as biological weapons prior to the nuclear war. They escaped into the wild afterwards, they went on to thrive in the nuclear wasteland, becoming apex predators that only enjoy killing, eating, bringing death and misery to every living thing." He said then Irina spoke up.
"You said You had a mother?" He nods.
"What happened to her?" "She was taken...leaving me alone to fend for myself in this hell." He said shocking Everyone Including Sona and Ravel who both are developing feelings for the boy had his mother taken away.
Issei, who had been eating the soup in silence while the others had been questioning Sky, set down his now finished bowl before punching the ground. He then asked, "Do you remember who or what was responsible, Sky?"
"Barley, but then I find her and the bastard who took her...he's going to wish he wasn't born" he said, making everyone sweat a bit.
Snappy burps and gets a little blood on everyone and Sky chuckles a bit.
"OK, that was nasty!" Saji complained. Sona was going to smack the back of his head until Sky said.
"Grow a pair you wimp, or else you going to be a wimp for the rest of your Life unlike Mister Hyoudou here who looks like he can take on a Scorch Beast"
"Um, what the hell is a Scorch Beast?" Issei asked.
Sky then leaves the station to get something for Sona and Ravel while looking for a book to share with the group leaving the group with Snappy.
Snappy moves closer to Sona and Ravel, Saji and Riser get defensive but Snappy plumps between the two girls and purrs when both of them pet him.
"It looks like both Sona and Ravel are people that this 'Snappy' fellow is fond of." Gasper stated while hiding behind Issei.
"Yeah, and something tells me that they will pursue a relationship with Sky. I may have a dream to be a harem king, but I wouldn't want to make an enemy out of him, so I won't try to woo either Sona or Ravel." Issei replied.
Issei looked to his right to see a blonde girl wearing what could be presumed to be a nun's habit reading a book. "What are you reading there, Asia?" Issei asked.
"Oh, this is apparently some book about an incident that went down in a place known as the Mojave Wasteland that started when a courier was intercepted by a local gang." Asia replied.
With Sky:
"Where the hell is it? Where's that damn book?" Sky asks himself while looking for a specific book with two necklaces in his hand.
Back with everyone else:
"I wonder what he is looking for." Sona wondered.
"I was thinking that he was looking for gifts for you and Ravel, Sona." Rias stated.
They both blush and think of it.
Saji cried at the thought, but Riser smiled at it and thought 'Maybe he can be a good groom for my sister.' And that he thought of a plan to get Sky and Ravel along with Sona.
'I don't think that we'll be able to return to our own world anytime soon, assuming that we will ever be able to return at all.' Issei thought to himself.
*"Don't throw in the towel just yet, kid. Any sufficiently advanced enough technology is indistinguishable from magic."* Ddraig stated within Issei's mind.
Sky walks out with something in his hand, and he smiles at Sona and Ravel while Riser, Issei, And Kiba smirks at guessing what they are. Sona's heart skips a beat as she looks at what Sky had gotten for her. She then thought, 'Saji is going to be jealous, but I only ever see him as a little brother.'
"Miss Sona and Ravel? You two are the many few I trust, and I trust these to you." He said as he puts A necklace on Sona and another on Ravel. "These were my mothers and fathers wedding rings, I trust them...to you." He smiles and they both blush.
He looks over to Asia. "Oh, and I see you have my book about the different creatures and factions, eh? You may use it while your here"
"Oh, you mean the one about that mess over in the Mojave. Thank you so much, Sky." Asia replied sweetly. She saw him not as a romantic partner, but as a brotherly figure.
"Of course." He then looks at Sona and Ravel who blushed at the necklaces and then looks away.
"The Mojave Wasteland, judging by the book, doesn't seem to be as in such a bad shape as many other areas, but I can only assume that is in terms of any damage inflicted when the bombs fell." Issei spoke.
"You're right about that, Issei. Pittsburg is apparently a polluted hellhole that is barely kept up by slave labor and the Capital Wasteland is a lawless area where many raiders strike out in." Asia replied.
"Yea and so is that all your questions or do you guys have more?" He asked while he sat back in his original spot then Sona and Ravel sat next to him with Sona on his right and Ravel and his left.
Asia then asked, "The book that I have read mentions places like the Mojave Wasteland, The Pitt, and the Capital Wasteland, but what region are we exactly in?" "Massachusetts" he answered blankly.
Gasper, who was reading a book about the area, then said, "That must mean that we're in Commonwealth territory, doesn't it?"
He nods and Snappy rolls on top of Saji who stuck his tongue out and slept on him.
Saji tried to get Snappy to move, but a tired glare from it made him give up and fall asleep. While this was happening, Asia was getting herself comfortable with Issei and smoothing out a spot for them to sleep at.
"Given how dangerous things are going to be in this Commonwealth, we probably should just keep our clothes on for the time being even when we sleep." Issei stated.
Asia nodded her head in agreement before she drifted off to sleep next to him. Issei then fell asleep with a smile on his face.
"So, you two can have my bed I'll show you." He stands up and guides Sona and Ravel to his room and sleeps with him for comfort while the others are passed out.
'This is going to be nice.' Sona thought and smiled before going to bed then had a dream where she was with a certain boy holding her close, she smiles in her sleep and Ravel had the same dream then did the same as Sona.
