CHAPTER 2

(SOOKIE'S P.O.V)

"Yes I can hear you," I clarified hoping that I hadn't freaked him out so much. Instead of him trying to get the hell away from me, he smiled brightly at me and said: "Finally someone who understands me and is just like me." My facial expression twisted into pure shock, as the realization of his words hit me. "You mean…" I paused still in shock. "Yes I could hear your thoughts too." "So you're saying that you have abilities just like Sookie?," Bill spoke up glancing from the young man to me. "Yeah basically," the young man responded. "I need a drink," Tara said, immediately pouring herself one, trying to process the surprising information. "That makes two of us bitch," Lafayette responded by pouring himself one as well. "My name's Sookie Stackhouse by the way." I introduced myself. "This is Bill, Tara, Sam, Mario, Lafayette, and Arlene." "Nice to meet all of you," the young man said, grinning at each of us. "I'm Barry Horowitz." He introduced himself. (The telepath in season 2 & 4).

"Are you half fae like me?," I asked Barry suddenly. "A half what?," he replied in confusion. "Are you able to block out thoughts when it gets too much?, are there many more like us?, how do you deal with all of this?," I bombarded him with non-stop questions. "Sookie I think you should ease up on giving him the third degree, he is already overwhelmed." Bill intervened. Aside from Andy Bellefleur's daughters, I finally met someone my own age that could relate to my struggles. Which is why I couldn't help myself, but bombard him with questions. "Well for what it's worth I wish I didn't have this gift," Barry told me with a sigh. "That guy you were running from was a vampire wasn't he?." I suddenly asked. "Yes, which is exactly why I hate my gift. The guy who was after me, his name is Franklin Mott (British vampire in season 3), and he will be back with reinforcements tomorrow night. I need to be out of this town before sunset." "You're safe with us in BonTemp for now, and we would never let that happen." I assured Barry who stared at all of us. I turned to everyone who gestured in agreement that they were on his side.

"Bill," I turned to him, pulling him aside. "I'm going to let Barry stay with me tonight given the situation." "Fine but I'll stay in the underground cubby ( the one that Eric built in Sookie's home) just in case you end up in danger." Bill agreed with me. Ten minutes later everyone jumped into their cars or carpooled with another and drove home.

(SOOKIE'S P.O.V)

At 6am I was up and about in my kitchen preparing breakfast for myself, and my guest, while I fried some eggs. I felt very excited to speak with Barry. Last night's event happened so fast that I hadn't had much time to process it all until now. 'Morning Sookie,' I heard Barry greet me, except that he greeted me telepathically. 'Morning,' I greeted him telepathically as well. I turned to stare at him and smile. ' You have a lovely home. I especially love your family photos. Very sentimental.' Barry smiled as he picked up his cup of coffee. 'Do you come from a loving home Barry?,' I suddenly asked, drinking my cup of coffee as well. Barry's facial expression darkened to sadness, as I asked the question. 'No, I wish I did though. Look Sookie, you're lucky that you grew up in a happy home 'cause a lot of us weren't so lucky. I personally believe if I had come from one, I would've made better choices, and not end up being involved with the wrong people, especially vampires.'

'How did you end up working for vampires?'I asked casually, intrigued to learn more. 'I was hired by vampires, because of my gift to gather information about their enemies.' 'Enemies?,' I asked surprised at his choice of words. 'Your employer has enemies here in BonTemp?.' 'Well yeah,' Barry further explained. 'Eric Northman and Bill Compton. I was sent here with Franklin Mott to find out as much information I can on them, because my employer had plans of destroying them.' 'Barry,' I said to him, frightened now. 'Who is your employer?,' 'To be honest I don't know. My instructions are always handed down to Franklin. I myself was curious at one point, and asked Franklin about it, but he himself admitted he didn't know.' 'So how did you end up running from Franklin?,' I continued to question Barry. 'Franklin decided that when he arrived at BonTemp, he was going to take a human bride, and forcibly turn her, since he was lonely, upon discovering this I decided to confront him, and let him know how wrong this was, and he threatened to kill me if I tried to stop him, or report him to the authorities.'

My mind was racing with questions, as I sat quietly watching Barry eat his breakfast. So we had another new threat to encounter once again, and this time they were coming after Eric and Bill. I couldn't help but feel extremely grateful that Barry was telling the truth, and turned out to be a good guy. Who was this employer?, and why were they after Eric and Bill?. I needed to sound the alarm, as soon as possible to Eric and Bill. This could mean life or death for Eric and Bill, if they receive the news too late. In the long run life and death for BonTemp as well… 'Barry I need a favor from you,' I telepathically spoke up again. 'Sure anything,' Barry responded. 'I know you said you will be leaving BonTemp today before sunset, but I need you to stay and help me defeat Franklin.' Upon hearing my request Barry glanced away, nonverbally not agreeing with myt idea. 'I know it's a risk for you, but I promise unlike you being unable to trust Franklin a vampire, I have vampire allies, which are Eric and Bill. I promise you if you help us you will be protected.'

An uncomfortable minute of silence passed before Barry responded. 'Fuck it, it's the least I can do for being apart of this, but you better keep your promise on me being protected. I'm giving up my one chance to run here.' 'You have my word.' I smiled pleased with his response. 'One of the first things we need to do, when sunset comes is inform Eric and Bill immediately.'
