Hey Guys! This is a stand alone, I got annoyed with a different fanfiction that I read and decided Hermione needed a good enjoy a bit of friendship fluff!
Trees were trimmed in green and red, the air was chilly as the sun crept over the city skyline. Hermione Granger breathed a deep sigh of contentment as she strolled through London wrapped snugly in a dark purple fuzzy coat and silver hat and gloves. She'd always loved Autumn, Autumn meant crackling fires, hot chocolate, fluffy blankets and a good book. As the weather turned her friends let her use the weather as an excuse not to go out as much though a few still dragged her about.
Luna was one such friend and she had convinced the bushy haired beauty to take her to a few of the famous markets that were dotted through the city. They had just finished up in Spitalfields marketplace and with aching feet and a bag full of random things that Luna had somehow managed to convince her to buy she was finally on her way home. As she followed the road round she was met with the sight of Grimmauld Place Square. The frost having long since disappeared from that morning and now a few children were placing on the grassy patch; shrieking with laughter as they chased each other around. Number 12 slowly slid into view as she neared it, the magic never ceased to amaze her. The intricacy of the spells that were weaved into the wards around the ancestral home of the Black Family still scared her not because they existed anymore! Oh no Harry had ensured their removal when he had permanently moved in. But the lengths to which the pureblood family had gone to in order to protect itself was extreme to say the least.
Climbing up the stairs, she quickly unlocked the door and entered the warmth of the hallway. The gray, dark, grim colours of the house were gone and been replaced with cherry red walls and white trim; the floor was a light mahogany and it stretched out in front of her as she hung her coat and things on the silver with 'Beautiful Bookworm' written above it, it was in the middle of two others. One had 'King Keeper' and the other had 'Mischief Managed' for Ron and Harry respectively. The hooked wooden coat stand was still there for guests but it was clear who lived there, the three of them had been together since Hermione had finished Hogwarts.
The smell of bacon frying wafted towards her and she walked into the kitchen to the sight of one of her best friends standing over the stove as he read from a recipe book. Harry still looked like he had in school, shaggy black hair that now curled around his neck. Emerald green eyes that still held shadows but were now lightened as he battled with his demons. Two years after Hogwarts and he had finally started to see a therapist, Hermione had been surprised. He had flatly refused to talk to her about it and after a rather ferocious row between the two of them she had finally relented and had stepped away, things had been difficult and then suddenly easier as though the pressure had suddenly been eased.
The year immediately following the Battle of Hogwarts and the end of the war had been a mix of confusion, pain and happiness. Hermione had escaped back to Hogwarts, where although she had to put up with the awed but also slightly frightened gazes she could force all of her energies onto studying and fell asleep exhausted at the end of each day. It was only when Professor McGonagall had taken her aside in February for a word that she had burst into tears and fallen into her favourite teachers arms. The new Headmistress had held her and talked to her before immediately calling Poppy for a medical examination who had then given the nineteen year old a list of recommended psychiatrists.
Ron and Harry had both immediately attended the auror academy and within six months were out hunting down the stray death eaters. They were a powerful team and Hermione had been scared to death for them. Kingsley had warned them both about the perils they faced but after giving a very brief summary of their last seven years he had to bow out, gave them a strong team and completely ignored the few oppositions he had been met with, now though Ron was working with George and the brothers were doing great while Harry had started to look into being a social worker for both magical and muggle.
Harry turned around and immediately grinned at her.
"There you are, I thought you were coming back ages ago. Got distracted did you?"
"Your girlfriend has an awful knack for making me do things I don't want to do and yet I enjoy them. Its maddening, Harry!"
"How come she's my girlfriend when she does something irritating you yet she's your best friend when she's irritating me?"
"Harry, women are simple creatures but please don't try to figure us out." She responded with a wink as she settled in a chair. "Oh and she said she'll be by around six."
"Great, hot chocolate or mulled wine?"
"Ohh some of that delicious mulled wine, please! Is Ron around?
"Yeah just popped out to get Indian and snacks. We were out of Pringles." He said with a roll of his eyes and Hermione giggled.
Ron had become endlessly fascinated with muggle snacks, he thought the variety and flavours were incredible especially as they weren't made with magic however a special favourite of his were Salt and Vinegar Pringles and they always had a few tubes floating around the house.
"Oh and Su Li is coming over too."
"Wow a second meeting with us it must be going well."
"Tell me about it, you remember Mandy? She barely lasted half an hour!"
"Oh please do you remember your date with Megan."
Harry grimaced. "Now that was a low blow."
Hermione grinned back and wiggled her eyebrows at him until he cracked a smile.
He and Ginny had broken up a few months after the final battle, they'd tried to make a real go at a relationship but eventually it started to feel forced and the two talked a lot before the decision was made to end things while they still counted each other friends. Now that the pain was gone they were great friends still and they went out to the gym together a few times a week. Megan had come a few months later, and from the onset it was obvious she wanted Harry Potter not just Harry. They had gone out to dinner where she had laughed loudly and obnoxiously at his comments, asked too much about his 'adventures' - and as Harry put it – was most dismissive about Ron and Hermione. They come back to the house after it and she had lasted all of 10 minutes before Harry had firmly but respectively guided her out of the house before returning to down three shots of firewhisky that Ron had got ready for him. There had been a few girls after that but none had seemed to really know what to say or how to act, plus Harry was no Casanova; Hermione reminded herself he was rather dismal at picking up on clues.
"Well I think we can all agree Luna was right to take charge." Harry said with a faraway look that had his best friend hiding her smile as she resisted to share how cute he was. He and Luna had been dating for 7 months now and it was all down to Luna simply turning up on the front doorstep and informing Harry that he needed to ask her out as their planets were aligned. After a brief pause of silence he had grabbed his coat and left with her and they'd been seeing each other regularly ever since. They seemed to have just slid into a relationship as easily as breathing, nothing changed on the outside and Luna still hung out with them at different times as friends but Harry had never been more relaxed and smiled more too.
Just then they both heard the door bang open and Ron's boisterous voice fill the house.
"Whoever has hands come here now!"
With a startled look at each other they both hurried from the kitchen and stopped short at the sight of their red-headed best friend clutching at bags and bundles that were spilling out of his arms.
"Did you buy the whole store?" Hermione asked as she grabbed the bag with ' Golden Palace' written on it.
"I can explain!"
"Please do!" Harry said with a grin as he grabbed a few of the others and they all trouped back into the kitchen.
It was much more their place than the comfortable family parlour was. Harry had decided to keep the huge stove and large kitchen table, the walls were white with one wall being a royal blue, all the surfaces were a light cherry wood with a white marble with gold and red running through it taking over one side of the kitchen where Harry did most of the baking. He had requested that Kreacher join the House elves at Hogwarts as the castle was rebuilt and after enjoying the company and constant hustle and bustle of the place he had requested to stay there permanently. Harry had then taken over the cooking, the only chore that he'd ever enjoyed at the Dursleys.
"Well theres really not much to tell. I got distracted by that fishmongral –"
"Fish mongers" Interrupted Hermione.
"Thats what I said, anyone they said they had a really good deal on and then I went to the grocery store to pick up some bits and then a supermarket for the crisps where I found a crap pile!"
The other two burst out laughing as he started to pull things out to show them all his treasures.
"This is a pop up tent! Look it opens like this and then you just squish it down like that! Much easier! And this is a shovel that sings! Figured you could give it to Teddy, mate. And this is a...a...well I don't actually know what it is but I'll figure that out and this is just a blanket coz I thought Su li would like all the astrology stuff and this-"
"Ron, where on earth did you go?" Hermione said giggling madly.
"Al-dis? Alldees? Something like that."
His friends exchanged amused glances at his complete mispronunciation of the word but didn't say anything as he continued to chat about his purchases.
"And that's the last of it, how was your guys days?" Ron finally announced as he put away another mug in their already slightly bulging cupboard. Each of them had their own set of mismatched mugs and it was because they all had an inability to throw one away that Harry had carefully constructed a second cupboard with glass doors so that they could keep them all housed properly.
"Luna dragged me around Spitalfields and forced me to buy things."
"Ah those big silver eyes work on you and not just Harry then." Ron teased and Hermione threw the dishcloth at him in mock anger. They had dated for about a month after the battle until their arguments became daily and they decided to take a break. Surprisingly it was Ron who had been the more rationale one of them during the time, their last argument had resulted in screaming that neither of them were proud of and it had been Ron who had stopped and taken a step back. He'd quietly said that they were too important to each other to continue doing this and they'd taken a week off of talking. Then Harry had come along and locked them in a room until they decided to not force anything and their friendship had returned to its easy and natural state and the slight hint of romance had faded away to nothing. It had made the decision to all move in together easier, especially as each of them still had nightmares regularly and simply knowing they were next door helped a lot.
"Hey, those big silver eyes work on everyone." Harry mumbled, his cheeks turning slightly pink.
"Oh yes because everyone else would agree to wear their girlfriends jewellery." Ron said with a grin and Harry smiled and wiggled his eyebrows as he pulled out the butterbeer cork necklace that always remained around his neck.
"She likes pulling on it, who am I to stop that."
"Too much information, mate"
"Oh please you're the one that couldn't stop talking about the girls boobs last month!" Hermione said laughing.
"They were huge! They had to be spoken about! Larry's little love thing can be avoided."
"Larry?"
"Luna and Harry...duh" The red head replied with a salute of his mulled wine.
"Creative." Said the defeater of Voldemort as sarcastically as he could. "Anyway I've been coming up with a cheesecake recipe and also deciding to set Hermione up on a date with."
"What? Whyyyy" Hermione said knowing full well she was whining. Her dating history was just as bad as the others, a few good ones here and there but ultimately they had fizzled early.
"Oh hush, you knew I was doing it."
"I didn't think you were serious." The brunette grumbled.
"Come on you know you want to...Just give him a chance, he's better than the one you picked out."
"That you forced me to pick out!"
"Potato Potatoe now will you?"
"What's he like?"
"Funny, kind, graduated uni with a 2:1, enjoys sport but not too much, likes trying new food and travelling. Works in a non-profit organisation centred around helping those in strained financial situations get back on their feet. Oh and can give a half an hour lecture over the ridiculousness of pumpkin spice in anything and is 27 years old."
"And you're sure he's single?" She asked only half-jokingly.
"Hermione come on I did my research."
"What did you tell him about me."
"That you're one of my best friends, enjoys reading, hates sports but will always support both teams, loves spicy foods and pub quizzes and is one of the sweetest most awesome people I have ever met. Oh and works in the ministry, improving the lives of every creature and being and is 24 years old."
"Magical or muggle?"
"Muggle, but his older brother finished Hogwarts five years ahead of us.
"Does he know who we are?" She didn't ask to sound vain, but in the few years following the war they had all been swarmed with press and people who seemed to think every inch of their lives should be exposed. Even now it was difficult to spend a few hours in Diagon Alley without having several random's throw questions at them.
"Kind of but not really, he understands what we did etc but as he was in the states at the time, they had a few more issues going on and his work keeps him busy so he didn't pay much attention to the news just what his brother told him."
"Well if you really think we'd be good together..."
"I think that you are two people with a little in common to understand each other and a little not in common to make it interesting. I think you're both fun and enjoy getting to know new people. If you don't like him in that way then maybe you'll at least make another friend out of it, okay?" Harry said firmly and simply not wanting his friend to think too deeply about it as she was prone to do.
Staring into her best friends green eyes she nodded slowly and a smile spread across his face as Ron whooped next to him.
"Good, besides itll be a fun evening anyway. We have curry and mulled wine what could go wrong?"
"Yeah, what could go- wait what do you mean?"
Just then the doorbell rung and Ron scurried out.
"Harry please don't tell me you-"
She cut herself off with a huff as Ron entered the kitchen with his arm around a petite blushing Chinese girl who waved at the two/thirds of the golden tree before moving to the side and letting in the tall blonde behind her.
Harry quickly made the introductions.
"Everyone this is Kieran, Kieran this is Ron and Su li and Hermione."
"Hi everyone, thanks for having me, when Harry said there was Indian on offer I jumped at the offer."
"Ah so he bribed you with food, did he." Ron said as he handed Su Li a cup of mulled wine and offered more to Kieran. "Sounds like my kind of guy."
"I'm afraid that's the way to my heart, I hope you don't mind I'm a bit underdressed. I came straight from work."
He was in casual brown jeans and a navy blue sweater with a leather jacket thrown over it; a dark purple scarf could just be seen wrapped around his neck. His eyes were a soft hazel and he stooped a little like he knew his height was a lot and wanted to forget it.
"Not a problem we wanted a chill evening anyway, isn't that right Hermione?"
Giving her best friend a glare that would have frozen him she turned with a smile to the man.
"Yep I'm afraid Saturday nights are our designated lazy time, as you can see none of us really dress up that much anyway."
And it was true, they were all wearing comfortable soft clothing even Su li, Ron having no doubt warned her.
"Well you look great, penguins are a very in thing at the moment." He said with a wink and Hermione abruptly remembered the snugly hoodie she'd reached for this morning as the light crept in through her blinds. A light blue covered in miniture penguins in various poses. She would have blushed but as the warmth in his gaze she instead smiled and gestured to the chair next to her.
"Why thank you and I agree they should be on the runway more, Paris fashion week would be a lot more interesting."
'I think you should write a letter to them then, really grasp the designers attention. You would be called a genius, a revolutionist in creation!" Kieran exclaimed as he took off the scarf and shrugged off the jacket.
"Absolutely, the outfits would be fuzzy and warm and completely envelope the models!"
"And that would mean people would pay closer attention to the detail, the difference between the black and white fuzz...and a speck of orange for the beak of course!"
"Well naturally, we must include all elements of them."
"And then to bring penguins to the forefront of their minds could bring their attention to climate change!"
Hermione smiled widely at the man and quickly delved into the new subject with an exuberance that made her eyes shine.
"Definitely, we could make sure the catwalk could slowly warm over the evening. Show the destruction that pollution has on the poor animals."
Kieran nodded enthusiastically at the woman who managed to take his bumbling effort at flirting and turn them into a hilarious and then passionate conversation.
Harry and Ron grinned at each other and exchanged an air five over their best friends head while Su Li giggled at them both.
"How are you doing, Su Li? Ron said you're work has been quite difficult the last week?"
"Oh yes it has been to be honest and I needed this. My boss seems to think that I should have my every move watched and confirmed by him or another partner, its ridiculous. I've been working in this law firm for two years now, I now all the clients by name and situation and yet this man thinks he can come in and destroy my relationship with them all because apparently I'm not capable."
Despite her petite form the woman had a loud voice and right now the slight London accent she had was coming out strong. What was even funnier was that the two at the table barely noticed it so wrapped up in their conversation about the environment and animals.
"I mean my previous boss trusted me implicitly and knew that I would ask him if there was anything I didn't get, this new fella seems to believe I think the sun shines out of his arse and need to be given baby steps the whole time."
The rant carried on with both men offering helpful comments at the right places like "sounds like a moron" or "what a prat" and "dude what the fuck how dare he." None of which helped the situation at all and seemed to make her happier as well as angrier.
Within the confides of the warm kitchen as the smell of herbs and spice wafted around them and Harry kept them all topped up on mulled wine, the five of them felt lulled into bubble of warmth and so the sharp ringing of the doorbell shocked them each out of it with a bang.
Hermione immediately rose to her feet and hurried out to open the door to Luna who was smiling up at her with the same vague slightly dazed look she had in school.
"Oh hello Hermione." She said as though confused. "I've come for dinner, is that okay?"
"It was an hour ago so I don't see why it wouldn't be know." The bookworm said with a laugh as she grabbed the smaller girls hand and pulled her in for a hug.
"Have you put away all your things?"
"I haven't actually, almost but not quite I can't find a space for that orchid that I brought. I know they need indirect sunshine but as its quite chilly I think putting it near a window would be too cold."
"Luna, sweetie that plant was fake." Hermione said in puzzlement as they started towards the kitchen.
"Oh I know that silly, but I still want it to feel the positive energy of being treated like an actual plant. Hello Harry." She said as she skipped into Harry's waiting arms while Hermione shrugged and went to sit back down.
"Hello love, how was your day?"
"Oh it was wonderful thank you, the market was brilliant, so many vintage clothing items. I brought a white and red striped blouse."
"Sounds very pretty, oh Luna this is Kieran."
"Oh its very nice to meet you, Kieran. You look much nicer than Harry described. And thank you for the help with Kirsten, she's been doing much better."
"Oh of course it wasn't any trouble, and may I say how wonderful it is to meet the famous Luna, Harry can not shut up about you."
Luna giggled burrowing further back into Harry's arms.
"I felt the same way about you after your first meeting, then I gave him food, it worked like a spell."
"A charm." Harry said softly.
"Hm?"
"The saying is worked like a charm, sweetheart."
The perplexed expression was back on the younger girls face and Hermione heard Ron stifle a chuckle as they both knew what was about to happen.
"Well why a charm not a spell? They're practically the same thing, ana spell can be nicer than a charm."
"Its just the saying Luna." Harry said patiently having known this was coming.
"But a charm can be close to a hex or something nasty. A spell can be anything." Luna said as she stared off into the distance.
"Its just how the muggles say it."
"Humph." Came the unimpressed reply before the blonde's attention was caught by Su Li.
"Oh hello again, how are you?"
"I'm alright thank you Luna."
"Wonderful, the nargles have stopped floating around you."
Su Li smiled at the waif of a girl who had been nothing but nice to her and yet she had tried to ignore for most of her school time.
"Yes, I've made some good choices in the last few years. If you're free for a drink anytime next week I'd like to meet with you."
Luna looked positively delighted and nodded happily.
"Absolutely there's a new place called Paradise that I want to try out."
"Wonderful I'm so glad for the both of you, now can we please start to load up the plates? I'm starving!" Ron said quickly.
"You're always hungry!" Shot back Hermione and Harry who both gasped. "Jinx! Jinx again! Jinx 1,2,3!" Before the laughter burst from them.
"Guuuyyyyys!" Whined Ron as he pouted at his friends causing Su Li to put her arms around him.
"There there darling, are they being mean to you?"
"Us? Never!" Harry huffed indignantly though his green eyes were sparking mischief at them.
"Indeed we've never been mean in our lives!" Hermione declared though another shared look had them giggling madly including Ron.
"Are they always like this?" Kieran asked Luna who smiled serenely at him.
"Oh you'll get used to it, they've known each other long enough that they can practically read each others minds."
"Sorry we'll behave, love." Harry said with a chuckle as he kissed her cheek before going to one of the bottom cupboards and retrieving plates and cutlery.
Ron started to unload the delicious takeaway containers from the Indian bags and slowly the exquisite smell of curry floated around stronger than before.
"Okay we are quite a foodie group and Kieran and Su Li I wasn't quite sure what you guys wanted. So we have chicken and prawn biryani, tandoori chicken, tikka masala, lamb raan and a korma too. Couple of somosas, aloo gobi, popadooms and naan plus a vindaloo because Hermione somehow adores it."
"I don't think we have enough." Kieran said with a perfectly straight face and Ron looked back and forth between him and the bulging table a few times before asking seriously.
"Really? I can always pop back out I suppose."
Hermione was the first to break until the rest followed and Ron scowled at them all again before a grin cracked his lips.
"Alright alright everyone sit and start to help yourselves, does anyone want a refill of the wine?"
"Oh yes please this is delicious, Harry!"
"Why thank you Su, its pretty easy to make if you want the recipe?"
"No fear! I burn water!"
"Hermione, can you pass the biryani?"
"If you pass the somosas, please and thank you."
For the next few minutes the kitchen was full of requests and the scraping of spoons on plates.
"Oh my days this is amazing!" Kieran announced as he scooped another bite of lamb raang into his mouth.
"Right, its our favourite place." Ron said, thankfully having swallowed his mouthful of rice before replying. His eating habits had much improved since Hogwarts.
"I can see why." Su Li replied enthusiastically. "How did you find such a place?"
"Actually this was all Hermione, and it's actually an awesome story. Go on, you tell it better." Harry said pointing his nann in Hermione's direction.
"No no I don't think we need to hear that story, its really not very interesting." She tried to down play it immediately, grabbing another somosa and dipping it into the tikka masala.
"Oh come on, I love that story!" Ron said with a huge grin, clearly not feeling the effects of Hermione's death ray glare.
"No I don't think so." She replied with an icy smile.
"You know story time is actually one of the few things that is culturally used world wide in order to share experiences and learn new things." Luna said dreamily as she speared a piece of cauliflower.
"I would like to hear it...please." Kieran asked hesitantly, leaning over to nudge his shoulder against hers.
Closing her eyes in resignation she huffed and put her fork down with a roll of her eyes and a grin.
"Fine fine fine but I hate you all, okay...well except Su Li you're good."
"Hell yeah, girls gotta stick together!" The girl said raising a hand to high five the other.
"Well it started as the worst day ever, this complete arsehole had tried mansplaining to me what my own job was after I'd already been in it for 3 months, then he'd tried to pile on his own work to give to me. They'd also run out of turkey club at the cafe so i had to have morrocan veg instead, next it rained as I was leaving work – late as usual – and I didn't have a brolly which sucked. And we were going to pick up fish and chips but that shop was closed. Walked into the next takeaway resturant that I saw which happened to be the 'Golden Palace' as you can imagine looking a sight with wet hair and dripping clothes. The woman running the show, Aruna was so delightful. She started to talk in her native language and pulling my hands and no matter how i tried to explain I wanted food she just kept shaking her head at me and babbling and pulling at me. She took me all the way through the restaurant into the kitchen and sat me down by the radiator on a very comfortable chair. Then called her son – Rishi – over and he explained that she could see I was having a bad day and she was going to take care of me. And they did, they got me the leftover food and chatted with me for an hour until I had warmed up and when we started talking about them they showed me how to make authenticate Indian food which is obviously quite different from this stuff but they Aruna started talking about growing up in Jaipur and the move over here, it was incredible. And all the festivals they have its incredible, and then the photos came out and before I knew it the restaurant was closing and they had invited me to join the staff and then the music came on and the dancing began and they showed me the traditional dances which of course I couldn't do it to save my life but ultimately I felt better and they gave me so much left over that it kept us going for three days!"
"And we have been going back ever since. They know us pretty well by now, and the fact they can experiment with the spices and stuff."
"Wait what do you mean?" Kieran asked as he scrapped the last bit of biryani up and settled back in his chair.
"Well whenever they want to know if new things can be added to the computer they call us and test it out." Ron said. "Its pretty awesome to be fair and they're always super nice, though that might be because we always leave a good tip."
"Its good of you guys though, local business and all, its nice to have the consistency of a good place. It took me months to find a good Thai place that did all the dishes I want. " Su Li said.
"Exactly, they all went on holiday last year for a wedding. For two months we had nothing, it was torture!" Harry said, getting up and pouring out some more mulled wine.
The conversation continued to move along and the six all found them selves having a great time, soon the mulled wine was gone and the plates were finger licked clean. The atmosphere was relaxed and at ease, Luna had risen from her place and settled into Harry's lap while using the Chinese container to make a house. Ron and Su Li were covertly holding hands under the table but seemed to be inching closer. And Kieran had put his arm around the back of Hermione's chair and blushed a bright pink which had caused Hermione to hide a delighted grin. Before any of them knew it, it was eleven thirty and Su Li and Kieran started to pull their coats on.
"Guys I'm going to walk Su Li home, Kieran its nice to meet you hope to see again and I'll be back in half an hour." Ron said, shaking Kieran's hand with Su Li waving at the others before walking off hand in hand.
"Well I'm going to clear up a little, Kieran hope you enjoyed our crazy selves. Luna will you help me?" Harry asked.
"Hmm? Oh you're giving them a chance to say goodbye privately! Of course of course lets go." Luna said happily as she bounced over to her boyfriend and tugged on his hand to take him to the kitchen leaving the other two to their bashful goodbyes.
"Erm... well it was wonderful to meet you." Hermione said with a smile.
"Yes you too. Goodbye." The taller man said abruptly bending down slightly to press a kiss to her cheek. He backed away almost immediately and hurriedly turned towards the door and exited. Standing on the middle step he turned back to look up at her slightly and she raised a quizzical eyebrow.
"I really did have a brilliant time tonight."
"So did I."
"Would it be alright if I called you sometime? To go out I mean? Like on a date?"
Hermione smiled widely at him and nodded quickly.
"Yes, I'd like that. A lot." She added.
Kieran smiled back at her.
"Brilliant, I'll call you then. Bye for now."
"Bye." She echoed and closed the door as his form disappeared into the darkness.
Turning around she mock scowled at Luna and Harry's head that were poking through the kitchen door and watching her.
"So did I do good? Or did I do good?" Harry boasted winking at her while Luna giggled.
Shaking her head at their silliness, Hermione walked back into the kitchen to help with the clearing.
"I'll admit you did good, he said he'd call but we'll see."
Harry scoffed and shook his head at her but didn't say anything instead focussing on washing the plates out and scooping the leftover food into one container while Luna sat on the side, swinging her legs as she watched him. The next few minutes were spent drying plates and wiping down the table until a beeping got all of their attention. Pulling out his phone Harry sent a smug grin in Hermione's direction.
"Kieran said he's sorry but he completely forgot to ask for your number, is it okay if I send it to him?"
She nodded with a soft smile and his smirk quickly turned into a look of delight as well as tenderness as he typed away on his phone. She breathed deeply already feeling the nerves start to form in her stomach and the worry of what if situations come together in her head.
"I think I'm going to head up to bed too, night guys and thanks."
"Of course, see you in the morning."
Giving her friend a hug goodnight, Harry bent to whisper.
"Its a date, not a proposal okay, you had fun tonight, remember that."
Giving him a fierce squeeze she exited the kitchen and climbed the stairs to the couple soft murmurings and Luna's light giggle feeling a little more confident about the date.
