He'd what? Die? Well, of course because Gibbs would kill him if Ziva and Tony didn't find him first.
That would only be putting him out of his misery.
So much was going through Tim's mind in that moment. The whole situation had him on overload. Flash backs of of all the times he had failed, not just Abby but other protection details chased circles in his head.
Then, there were his emotions. He loved Abby, in what way, he couldn't quite put into words. He never knew his footing with her. That was half the fun about Abby, but it wasn't with out frustration. He wanted commitment, she didn't; so they didn't work. He still had feelings for her, but did his best to move on because she seemed to have. Yet he still felt hurt anytime she spent time with a guy that wasn't him.
"You would what McGee?"
He wanted to say the words but couldn't. Not until she had said them first.
Her arms wrapped around him tight, as much in reassurance as in need. They needed each other, and for tonight that would be enough.
