Red didn't attend the wedding – she couldn't. She would face their disappointment when the time came, but she could not stand and watch as they were named husband and wife.
She could remember the exact moment she fell for them – both of them. Snow, as she helped her when no one else would, and James – as charming as his nickname suggested – as she pulled her onto his horse and they rode off to save the woman they both loved.
With all of that in mind, it surprised Red just how quickly she grabbed for her cloak when one of the castle guards knocked on her door in the middle of the night, informing her of the Evil Queen interrupting the ceremony. On the ride to the castle she made him tell the story over and over, until she was sure no one had been hurt (aside from a few concussed guards).
Arriving at the castle, people were still taking down flowers and decorations, despite the late hour. Red was taken up various staircases, and before she knew it she was standing in front of the door to Snow's bedchamber. She didn't even get a chance to knock, as the door flew open and she was pulled into a bone-crushing hug.
"Where have you been?" Snow demanded, pulling Red into the room and closing the door. "We were worried enough when you weren't at the wedding, but when she-" her voice trailed off, and Red smiled apologetically.
"I'm sorry, Snow. I just – I couldn't..." her eyes flick to where James is standing on the other side of the room.
"Oh, Red..." Snow sighed, as if understanding. She probably did. In fact the definitely did, if the way she gently pressed her lips against Red's was anything to go by.
"What are you-" Red fell silent as she felt someone pull the hood of her cloak down.
"We don't want you alone out there," James explained from behind her, resting his hands on her shoulders. "We'd like if it you would stay with us."
"On your wedding night?" Red quirked an eyebrow. Snow gave a short, nervous laugh and nodded.
"On our wedding night."
Red tried to ask if they were sure, but she was silenced by Snow's lips once again on her own. That, and the feeling of James's hands snaking between them to untie her cloak made it clear that they were.
