Blaine couldn't control the tears falling from his eyes. Seeing Kurt in his graduation gown was emotional, but as soon as he put on the cap, Blaine lost all control.
"Don't cry," Kurt said soothingly while patting Blaine on the back. "Everything's going to be fine! I'm graduating in a few hours and we'll have the whole summer to be together."
"Then you're just going to run off to New York and leave me stuck in this place," Blaine said between hiccups.
"I told you not to think like that. I'm not leaving you. You're stuck with me until the very end."
"You make it sound so easy and simple but it's not."
Kurt bent down and sat on the bed next to Blaine. He took the younger boy's hand and his and squeezed. "I see that you're finally using that moisturizing lotion I recommended," he said as a feeble joke. Blaine remained silent. Frustrated, Kurt took a deep breath. "You're only making things worse. You need to cherish the time we have right now. Moping around isn't any fun and it sure doesn't make me happy to see you this way. It's like you want me to feel guilty for graduating or going to New York. Is that what you want Blaine? Because it's sure as hell is working."
"No it's not!" Blaine jumped up and stood in front of Kurt. "I don't want you to feel guilty or bad. That's the last thing I wanted. I'm just sad because you're leaving. Is that a crime? I'm going to miss you and it's already hurting, like an everlasting pinch or a constant headache. I've never felt this way before and I love you so much that I just can't imagine not being around you all the time."
"I know Blaine, but it's just for a year. That's only three hundred and sixty-five days. We can make this work." He stood up and placed a hand over Blaine's heart. "We're gonna make this last forever."
Blaine rested his forehead on Kurt's chin. "I know, I know. It's just difficult for me."
"It's going to be that way for a while, but cheer up love; I'm always just a phone call away."
"You better be," Blaine mumbled. "You better."
Kurt wrapped his arms around Blaine's small frame and hugged tightly. In that moment, both boys knew everything was going to be just fine.
