Hunter awoke to the sound of muffled voices and clinking of plates. He slowly got up and looked around. He saw Director Fury- which confirmed that is wasn't a dream but he saw the one man whom he only ever dreamed of seeing.
"Ah, you're awake," Director Fury observed. "You children do faint a lot," he added. But Hunter wasn't listening; he was still gaping at his idol.
"Does he have problems?" Tony enquired, rubbing his chin as Hunter kept staring at him open-mouthed. "Because if he does, I'm sure that he isn't the right guy. I mean, if he really is my descendant, he would be almost perfect right?"
Hunter shook his head and blushed slightly. The first thing you want your hero to say isn't to ask if you're stupid. "Hello Mr Stark, it's an honour to meet you. I am also interested in robotics and made a miniature prototype of your iron man suits…" He was about to continue but then remembered what Mr Stark had said. "Uh, if I'm not mistaken, you mentioned the word descendant?"
Director Fury gave Tony a sharp look. Tony made a face at him and replied, "Descendants? No, no, I never said that. I said... refreshments. Yes, would you like something to drink?" Hunter didn't but he didn't object to accepting a coke from him.
By this time April and Jaxon were beginning to wake. They blinked a couple of times, looked around as their jaws fell open. Jaxon spoke first. "If my knowledge of the Avengers is correct, we are in Stark Tower with the Tony Stark. And if my knowledge of history is correct, we are 600 years in the past. Am I right?"
After a minute of silence Director Fury spoke. "You kids sure like to make speeches. And I'm afraid that your knowledge of both the Avengers and History is very accurate. "Sit down will you? We have some serious matters to discuss." The trio looked at him and made their way slowly to a plush white couch.
"Actually," said Tony, looking at his watch, "Natasha, Clint and Bruce should be returning shortly with their… assignments, so why don't we talk all together?"
"Fine," Director Fury agreed. "Why don't you kids go freshen up? Pepper has laid clothes for you all on your beds. Come, I will take you to your rooms." The trio looked at each other in astonishment. They had rooms? They were going to stay? But they didn't voice their questions and wordlessly followed the director to their rooms. "The showers are down the corridor," the director said. "Try to be down within 20 minutes." And with that the director turned his heel and walked out.
Looking at each other once again, they grabbed their clothes- which seemed to be in the style each of them preferred, and walked to the shower. 10 minutes later, each of them emerged looking presentable. April wearing a pink singlet that said love is eternal with a black cardigan on top. She had black skinny jeans with black boots and a chunky silver necklace. She also applied some eyeliner to make her blue eyes pop. Her wavy brown hair hung loose down her back. Hunter was wearing a green basketball shirt with a varsity jacket and baggy jeans. He wore black converse as well. Jaxon wore a plain black shirt with "YEAH BUDDY" printed on in white with large letters. Jaxon was a big fan of Jersey Shore, let's just leave it at that. He also wore baggy jeans and converse.
The trio made their way back to the lounge and saw Natasha, Clint, Bruce and Steve. April and Jaxon were star struck at seeing their heroes and, after a moment of gawking, they realised that they weren't the only children in that room. There were three new arrivals. There were two girls- one big and blonde and the other of medium height and slight with fiery red hair. There was also one boy who was quite scrawny with brown hair. "Hi!" piped the blonde "I'm Sky and this is Ty and Summer," she said gesturing to each of them sequentially.
After a moment of awkward silence, April spoke, "I'm April and this is my brother Hunter and our best friend Jaxon," gesturing to them both. After another pause Director Fury said," Now let's get down to business."
"Let's start from the very beginning. For the last millennia we have been trying to get a hold of the origins of each avenger and their purpose on this earth. We started this research since each of the avengers has been receiving supposed 'dreams' or 'visions' of their younger selves. This has never previously occurred and naturally Pepper wanted to research them. After months of failed tests and operations, Thor had a crucial dream which allowed Pepper to draw the conclusions that the answer might lie in the stars. She began star gazing every night for both pleasure and the mystery. Then one fateful night while she was doing her daily star gazing she came upon this message. Stark if you would please," he said gesturing to the man. Stark waved his hand and 2 holographic images appeared. The first was a picture of a strange constellation. "This", director Fury said is the constellation that Pepper drew the message from. The second picture was a tiny scrawled message. "And this is the result of her discoveries". The young faces of the room looked at each other and back at the avengers suspiciously. After a pause April cleared her throat and began to read, " -MUST-ASSEMBLE-THE-AVENGERS-TO-SAVE-THE-UNIVERSE. BUT-THIS WILL-NOT–BE-ENOUGH. SEEK-THE-ASSISTANCE-OF-THE-AVENGERS-DESCENDANTS. THEY-ARE-THE-KEY-TO-YOUR-SUCCESS. YOU-DO-NOT-HAVE-MUCH-TIME? She said the last phrase is a disbelieving manner. "What the hell?" Tyler said. "Is this supposed to be some kind of joke? Cause I seriously do not have time for this. We do not have time for this," Hunter said raising his voice.
"Children I assure you that every word I have uttered is the complete truth." As the children all simultaneously began to raise their voice to object Director Fury interrupted again. "Let me finish the story, then you can decide your opinions on the matter," he said in a stern but also slightly pleading voice, whilst looking at each of the children in turn. After we found out about the descendants we began to look for them. For 5 years we looked and finally we have a result… and they are sitting right in front of us. The 6 youngsters all looked at the Director with shock on their faces. "So you mean to say…" Sky began… "that we are the descendants of the avengers? "That is an affirmative," Thor nodded surely. "Um… so if this was even remotely possible… which I don't believe it is," Jaxon added scratching the back of his neck, whose descendant am I?
"Ah yes! Introductions are what I've forgotten! Let's see Jaxon and April you are both descendants of Tony, Ty you are the descendant of Bruce, Sky you are a descendant of Captain America, Jaxon you are a descendant of Thor and Summer you are a descendant of Natasha and Clint," said Director Fury in one breath. I think that deserves a round of applause, he said apparently pleased with himself. The avengers rolled their eyes whilst the descendants applauded timidly. "Well I will allow you some time to get to know your great great great great greeeeeeeeeeeat grandparents. I have some… business… to attend to and will be back by 7.00pm. We will discuss you're training and other arrangements when I return. He briskly nodded at them all and left the room in a hurry slamming the door behind him. The avengers and the descendants moved their gazes from the shuddering door and to each other. There a moment of silence where the two parties sat eyeing one another until one of them spoke up.
