A/N: I am so sorry that it's been so long since I've updated this story. I completely forgot what I was planning for it because of some mishaps with my documents. I promise I won't take so long to update this and go completely MIA. Anyways, here it is.

School had been especially boring without the presence of Buttercup's sisters.

Of course Buttercup had her own friends, but she felt odd without Blossom blabbering about schoolwork and Bubbles sitting next to her in the subjects they had with each other.

School was especially a drag because Buttercup had a violent cough and ended up wheezing and hacking every few minutes. She also had a throbbing headache she couldn't get rid of. She felt hot and stuffy the whole day, even though she was wearing a muscle tank top and shorts in the air conditioned classrooms.

"Are you ok, Buttercup?" Her friend Robin asked after Buttercup had another coughing fit. Buttercup was sitting in lunch with Robin and Mitch, and her two friends were growing increasingly worried about her.

"Yeah, I-" Buttercup coughed violently, her bloodshot eyes watery and her chest heaving. "I'm fine."

"You are so not fine." Robin sighed, shaking her head.

"Dude, you need to go to the nurse or something. You've been like this for a while." Mitch commented. "No offense, but you look like a wreck."

Buttercup glared at him, punching him in the arm.

"Mitch." Robin scolded. She rolled her blue eyes and looked at Buttercup. "What he's trying to say is that you look really sick. When was the last time you've had some rest?"

Robin knew Buttercup and her sisters had been working on a huge case the past week or so and haven't had time to take a breather.

"Look, I'm fine guys." Buttercup snapped. "I'm just a little off today."

"Way off." Mitch muttered.

Buttercup scowled and got up abruptly, walking away and out of the cafeteria.

"Buttercup!" Robin exclaimed. Buttercup ignored her and Robin sighed, shooting a glare at Mitch.

He raised his eyebrows. "What?"

Not long after the events in the cafeteria, Buttercup's phone rang.

"Hello?" She asked, her throat cracking.

"Buttercup! There's an emergency!" The mayor's frantic voice screeched in her ears.

"What is it?"

"A monster is destroying the city! Hurry!"

"I'm on it." Buttercup said, hanging up and shoving the phone in her pocket before running towards the nearest window and flying off.

She was soon flying towards the center of the city, where she spotted the giant purple monster.

It looked like a radioactive dinosaur octopus or some weird hybrid similar to that, and was slamming a skyscraper into another building.

"Hey!" Buttercup screamed. "Drop the building, you slimy bastard!"

The monster looked at her and roared, throwing the building at the floating heroine.

Buttercup widened her eyes and prepared to fly out of the way.

Her normally swift, agile movements were sluggish and sloppy and the building was too fast for her.

Buttercup collided with the skyscraper, even flying through some of the top floors before gaining some sense of what was happening. She snapped out of her daze to crash out of the building and stop it mid air with her super strength.

She hurled it at the monster and it stumbled backwards, but wasn't hurt at all.

Buttercup was panting, which was odd since she wasn't usually so easily worn out. She decided to go for a physical, direct confrontation and proceeded with hurling herself towards the beast.

The monster noticed this and as soon as Buttercup was within reach, he grabbed her mid-flight and threw her into the ground.

She landed on the grassy field after slamming into trees midair, and she was immediately out cold.
