A/N: Hey guys! I know the last chapter was really short, so I wanted to make up for it with another chapter. I think it's pretty long compared to previous chapters, and I apologize for the short chapter yesterday. Enjoy!

The blonde boy walked through the park, grocery bags in his arms as he whistled cheerfully.

He ignored the presence of the monster destroying the city as he was told to always do. He could only attack the monster if the monster was attacking him, his brothers or Mojo, or the observatory. Since the monster was doing none of the above, the boy continued walking, being the ever-so happy go lucky Boomer Jojo.

Until, that is, he saw the girl lying in the field.

His whistling died down as his blue eyes squinted to look at the still girl in the distance.

"Is that…?" Boomer widened his eyes. "Buttercup?"

He dropped the grocery bags and dashed over there in a streak of blue.

Boomer leaned over Buttercup and rolled her on her back.

Her chest heaved slightly and her mouth was parted slightly. She was still breathing.

"Thank God." Boomer sighed. He looked at the girl again, studying her.

Her light skin was unusually pale and flushed, and her breathing jagged and more of a wheeze. Not only did Buttercup have bruises and was bleeding, but she was sick.

Boomer paled. Whenever he or his brothers got sick, they lost their abilities to heal and their powers weakened ten-fold. Boomer had heard some of the Powerpuff Girls were going to be out of town this week- he couldn't help but overhear the other villains whenever he hung out with them- and if Buttercup's sisters weren't here, no one would be able to take care of her and make sure she got rest. Especially since there was a monster running amuck and Buttercup would have the responsibility of taking it down.

Boomer bit his lip. "I guess I'll just have to do it."

He reached down to hold her shoulders, prepared to carry her.

But he underestimated Buttercup's reflexes.

Buttercup's eyes shot open and she grabbed his arm and slammed him down.

"What are you doing?" She screeched, her voice hoarse.

"Buttercup!" Boomer exclaimed, jumping up back to a standing position. "Are you okay?"

Buttercup narrowed her eyes. "Am I okay? What are you talking about?"

"You were knocked out, Buttercup. And you don't look too good."

"Why does everyone keep saying that?" She groaned. "I'm fine."

"No." Boomer shook his head, getting up. "You need some rest."

"I honestly don't. I was just caught off guard." Buttercup said stubbornly, referring to the previous encounter with the monster.

"You're never caught off guard. You're Buttercup, always ready for action." Boomer grinned goofily and Buttercup felt amused, despite the overbearing numb and stinging sensations she felt all over. "Have you been getting any rest at all? You look like you haven't slept in days."

Buttercup's dull expression remained despite everything she was feeling at the moment. He was right. She hadn't slept in days. Buttercup had been busy dealing with all the monsters, villains, and criminals the past few weeks and over the past few weeks the crime activity had spiked. Exams had went on and Buttercup was studying her ass off so she could pass. Buttercup was training, studying, and working shifts at the mall to get the new PlayStation. All of this while fighting an awful fever and flu. She knew she was sick, but she couldn't just drop everything and focus and getting better.

She didn't want to admit that, but Boomer read her like a book.

Buttercup looked into his eyes, softening. She always had some kind of spot for him. She didn't know why, but something about him was just… different.

"How is it your business, anyway?" Buttercup crossed her arms, internally cursing herself for letting her voice crack and clearing her throat.

"Because I care about you, Buttercup." Boomer frowned sincerely. "You need to rest. You can't convince me that you're fine."

Buttercup looked down at her feet and she sighed. He was right. They were all right. Robin, Blossom, Bubbles, Mitch…

"But the monster-" Buttercup said, ready to fly and confront the monster.

"I'll take care of it." Boomer said, holding Buttercup's shoulders down. Softly though, since he knew Buttercup was injured.

Buttercup scoffed. "No offense, but you're not the greatest fighter."

Boomer laughed, not taking any offense.

Buttercup rolled her eyes, smirking. Boomer smiled but it quickly disappeared as Buttercup began to cough violently, wheezing. She fell over onto the ground, on her knees as she tried to catch her breath.

"Buttercup!" Boomer exclaimed. He knelt down towards her, holding her up.

"I can't breathe." She choked out. Her eyes were watering from the dry coughing fit. Her head spun and before she knew it, she was throwing up on Boomer's old gray Converse.

"Oh shit." Boomer said before Buttercup fainted.

Boomer needed to come up with a plan. Fast.

He had to take care of the monster, but he also had to take care of Buttercup. He couldn't do both at the same time. He also needed to find a way to get his brothers to help him cover.

Brick and Butch may have cared about him and loved him to death, but he wasn't so sure they'd help him with Buttercup.

Boomer carried Buttercup as he flew to Mojo's laboratory. Mojo had let the Ruffs live with him over the years and they'd been doing fine.

Boomer snuck into his room, not wanting anybody to catch him and Buttercup. He wasn't sure of what he was going to say or do, so he just lay Buttercup on his clean white bed.

He watched through the window as the monster continued to destroy the city and then nervously glanced at the unconscious Buttercup. He had to do something.

Boomer couldn't be two places at once, beating the monster and taking care of Buttercup. He couldn't leave Buttercup with his brothers…

Then it clicked.

"Be right back." Boomer said to Buttercup, completely forgetting she couldn't hear him.

Boomer ran out of the room and began shouting.

"Butch! Brick! Where are you guys?" He raced through the halls that was part of the section of the observatory the Ruffs occupied. Mojo didn't want three boys interfering with his work and sleep, so he closed off one whole complex in the observatory just for the Ruffs.

Boomer was running for a few minutes before a voice answered him.

"Boomer, what the hell are you screaming for?"

Boomer looked at the doorway of the kitchen, where a red-eyed boy was standing, an annoyed expression on his face.

"Brick!" Boomer exclaimed at the redhead. "Where's Butch?"

"Living room, why?"

"Explain later, go now!" Boomer grabbed Brick's hand and dragged him to the living room where, sure enough, a green eyed boy with messy black hair was sitting on the couch watching the news.

"Butch!" Boomer sighed. "Okay good, you're both here."

Butch turned down the television and looked quizzically at his two brothers.

"What's up?"

"Guys, this is really important. I need you to just help me out."

"Boomer, did you get into any... trouble?" Brick asked, his eyes widening with anger.

"No!" Boomer shook his head. "Nothing like that. It's kind of a long story…"

"Did Mojo find out about your porn-?" Brick asked.

Heat rushed to Boomer's face. "It's not that!"

"Goddammit Boomer, just spit it out!" Butch snapped.

"I need you two to get that monster out of Townsville and back to Monster Island."

Butch and Brick shared a look and looked at Boomer.

"You're kidding?" Butch scoffed.

"No, I really need you guys to do this for me."

"We can't do that. We're villains. It's not our job." Brick said, sounding exactly like the leader of the three villains. Ex-villains, in all honesty, but villains all the same.

"Why do you want us to get the monster?" Butch asked suspiciously. This was something the Powerpuff Girls had to do, and he had a feeling this had to do with one Puff in particular.

He knew Boomer had a thing for Buttercup, ever since they were twelve when Boomer hinted at Butch if he could go easy on the green Puff. Boomer always showed some kind of infatuation with her, but Butch never said anything about it.

Boomer turned red, debating whether or not to tell his brothers about the sleeping girl in his room.

"Well?" Butch repeated, and Boomer gulped.

"Okay. Well you see…"
