The Augment
(Two Weeks Later)
"How long have I been asleep?"
"You've been in cryostasis for just over a hundred years. Do you have no memory of your past life?"
"Why am I here?"
Sybok turned his head towards his son and then back to the augment, "As we speak, several others of your kind are being awaken, but I wanted to speak to you first."
The augment smiled, "You know of me?"
"I've always been impressed with you. During your brief time, you managed to rule over three-quarters of Earth long before the establishment of the noble houses."
"Indeed I did," the augment agreed.
Turanis interrupted his father, "We don't have much time. My grandfather, the Emperor can smell a plot brewing from a 100 light years away. We must act and now."
"My son is right," Sybok nodded his head. "Khan Noonien Singh, we brought you back for a very specific purpose."
Khan grinned devilishly, "First you are going to tell me why this happen to me and my kind."
"Fair enough," Turanis agreed.
"Emperor Solkar always had a fascination with experimenting on inferior species and under his orders the Vulcan High Command began experimenting on human DNA. The experiments were initially conducted as a means to please the Emperor but eventually he became bored and put an end to them. However, a few scientists both Vulcan and human alike started having ideas of their own and eventually came up with the idea of creating a legion of 'supermen,' genetically enhanced humans. This was kept a secret from the royal family."
"So what happened?" Turanis asked.
"I happened!" Khan answered, "I freed the others and conquered my part of the world! For nearly ten years, I had complete control of the Asia and the Middle East. I was a harsh but fair ruler and there wasn't any poverty, war, disease, or famine under my rule."
"When Emperor Solkar learned of the twenty augments he ordered them be destroyed. All but ten were captured and killed. My mother's grandfather, one the scientists responsible for your creation saved you and others by putting you in cryo-sleep and sending you in the Botany Bay to Ceti Alpha VI."
Sybok continued, "At the time, Ceti Alpha VI was under the control of my family."
"But you found the Botany Bay adrift?" Khan reminded Sybok.
"After my mother, Empress T'Rea was killed her family knew Ceti Alpha VI would eventually fall back under the control of the royal family and the ship was removed and hidden."
"Why is a Vulcan prince living in the wastelands of the galaxy?"
Sybok sucked his teeth, "I was betrayed by my father who now plans to give the throne to his bastard half-human son. I don't want his human genes polluting my family line anymore than it already has. I am sure a creature like you understand the importance of genetic purity."
"I understand exactly what you mean. So what do you want me to do?"
"I want what is rightfully mine's. I want the throne! And I want you to attack Earth!"
Both Khan and Turanis exchanged glances, "You want Khan and other augments to attack Earth? Why?"
Sybok hesitated to answer, "I need a distraction," he answered after a few moments of silence. "Earth is of great importance to Vulcan and my father will leave Vulcan defenseless to protect it."
"And just how I am supposed to do this?"
"We can discuss that later, but I want to make something clear. I am keeping four of the other augments including Fatima, your beloved, in cryostasis. It's my insurance that you will do your job and not betray me."
Khan's eyes flash a hot red, "You will keep me away from my love?"
"You will be surprised at what I can, will and have done to protect myself and get achieve my goal," Sybok sneered.
"Khan I suggest you get some rest. My father and I will talk with you again," Turanis waved at a servant who escorted Khan out.
Turanis turned to his father with a concern look, "Can we trust him? Khan is unpredictable and not so easily manipulated."
"I trust Khan to do what's best for Khan. He wants to regain his power so let him have Earth."
Sybok smirked to himself, "This plan has many layers. I will reach out to T'Unyal shortly and then to send Khan to Earth…. remember the House of Ndogo?"
Turanis shook his head 'no', "Only vaguely father."
"The imperial concubine Nyota's family worked for the House of Ndogo before their very public fall from grace, they were executed for treason."
"Yes, they were working with the Romulans, correct?"
"In creating a bio-weapon to be used to destroy Vulcan," Sybok explained, "The Emperor learned of their betrayal but never did find the weapon because I never did trust the House of Ndogo or the House of Akan both of whom were working together on it."
Sybok continued, "My mother always taught me to keep your secrets close to your chest. I put the weapon under the protection of the House of Sulu."
Turanis moaned a disappointing moan, "Duchess Himiko only care about advancing herself."
"True, but the royal family trust the House of Sulu ever since the Duchess protected Nyota and her child. Why do think she did that? Because I told her too and now that Prince Spock trusts her it's easier for her to request more land and transport the weapon."
"And what is Khan's role in all this again?"
"Khan is a distraction."
"This plan has many layers indeed father."
"Indeed."
