Piper

I was instantly worried when Jason came back from seeing Chiron and told me he needed to speak with me. Annabeth had cautiously left the scene, leaving me and Jason alone. "What is it?" I had asked him, nervously tugging on the hem of my orange Camp Half-Blood t-shirt.

He had hesitated a moment before speaking. "You know the vision you had in Katoptris? It actually happened and..." He took another breath. "Tristan didn't make it." It had taken a while for that to register and I had simply turned without a word or change in expression and calmly walked into the woods. No one came after me and I was glad for that.

He can't be dead. I just saw him, completely alive. But maybe that's the thing with death; you can't come to terms that someone close to you just...didn't exist anymore.

Jason

When Piper had walked away from me, Annabeth had told me not to follow her and that she needed sometime to herself. I respected that, but it was getting dark and the woods weren't really the safest place to be. "I'm going after her," I said.

"Don't go alone. I'll come with you," Leo had replied. We had found her sitting against a tree, staring off into the distance.

"Pipes," I said, kneeling beside her. She didn't reply or even make the slightest movement. "Piper, talk to me," I whispered, desperate to hear her voice. Leo put his hand on my shoulder.

"Give her some time, Jason. She's in shock," he said.

"We should take her back, though." Leo nodded. "Piper? Let's head back?" She stood up slowly, walking in the direction of the cabins with me and Leo trailing behind her. She walked straight up to my cabin door and went inside.

"I'll go, man. See you later," Leo said as he left. When I walked in, Piper was nowhere in sight.

"Piper?" I heard a whimper from the corner near my bed. I walked over and knelt in front of Piper, who was curled up into a ball, her cheeks wet.

"Why did he have to die?" she asked, plaintively. The sadness in her voice and eyes broke my heart a hundred times over.

"Oh, Pipes," I whispered and pulled her onto my lap, holding her as her tears streamed freely against my shirt. Before I knew it, I was crying too. "It's gonna be okay," I repeated, over and over again.

"He's the only family I had left," she mumbled through her tears.

"We're your family, too, Pipes," I whispered back. She sat up a bit.

"I never thought of it like that. Thank you."

"I love you, Piper." She started to cry again and I pulled her into my embrace once more. I kissed her forehead before we both fell into a disturbed sleep together.

A/N:

I'm sorry. I know this chapter is hella short, but they decided to throw four projects at us this week at school. I hate school. On the other hand, I really like the ending of this chapter.
