Tohru was understanding to the whole thing just like Rin had said, but that didn't mean she wasn't disappointed either, she was just better at hiding it, for the first week I had steered clear of the Café and Ren, for obvious reasons, so I was pretty much bored all day until Tohru, Yuki, and Kyo came home from school, because really, there was only so much house work I could do. It was during my second week of suspension when I finally decided that I've stayed away from Ren long enough, and because of that decision I now find myself in this current situation.
"AMY!" Ren sang flinging herself in my general direction, sighing I side stepped her causing Ren to run head first into the wall behind me. The sound of her body hitting the plastered wall caused may of the customer to flinch.
"Must we do this every time I come into work?" I asked annoyed, trying to smooth out any creases in my uniform. The force of a body ramming into me almost made me lose my balance, looking over my shoulder I was annoyed to see that it was Ren clinging to me.
"Why must you be so mean to Mommy?" Ren wailed throwing her arms around my neck, all the while sobbing into my shoulder.
"I keep telling you! You're not my mum!" I yelled throwing Ren off my shoulder, "And get off of me!"
Looking up at the clock resting on the wall over the door leading into the kitchen, much to my displeasure I realized that I still had a few hours left until the end of my shift.
Picking up some of the dirty cutlery on one of the tables I placed it on my tray and walked away from Ren.
"Where did I go wrong? My daughters so mean to me!" Ren wailed rocking herself back and forwards in one of the dark corners.
'Just ignore her Amy, just a few more hours.' I thought encouraging myself, 'And besides I go back to school in ten days, so I'll get my normal shifts back.'
Lets just say I've never been more excited to go back to school in my whole life, I might even love it now.
"Ah, I hate school." I complained dropping my head onto my desk, I've been back to school for a total of three days and I've already had enough, the three bimbos are being as annoying as ever, mathematics has been giving me a headache and I couldn't care less about Japanese History.
"Are you okay Amy?" Tohru asked concerned, "Are you feeling sick?"
"Na, I'm fine Tohru, just bored is all." I yawned, stretching my arms over my head.
"Oh I know!" Tohru said pulling out a deck of cards, "why don't we play rich man, poor man?"
I was willing to play and so where Uo and Hana, Kyo however was being difficult.
"Aw, play with that damn Yuki, I don't wanna." He stated indifferently.
"Running away from a challenge, what are you? Some kind of sissy?" Uo asked, insulting him into playing the game.
Kyo ready to defend himself feel into Uo trap, "Fine! I'll your stupid game!" Kyo yelled standing up out of his seat, "just don't cry when you lose, Yankee."
"Okay, how about this? Loser cleans the entire classroom, but himself?" Uo offered up a bet.
"Oh aren't those the most wonderful signals." Hana said dreamily, fanning herself.
"Let's ask Yuki if he wants to play too!" Tohru smiled looking around the classroom for Yuki, "Yuki wanna play rich man poor ma- you're not here." Tohru said noticing Yuki was absent.
I played two threes and Tohru countered by playing two kings. Uo played three queens and thought that she had us beat until Kyo played four eights.
"Revolution!" He declared looking over at Uo smugly.
"Dammit Kyo!"
"You cheater!" Uo screamed, "What kind of cheap-ass tricks are you tryin' to pull?"
Kyo banged his fist onto the desk, "what do you mean 'tricks'? Those are the rules."
"So revolution makes all high cards low, right?" she asked looking at her cards.
"Wait," Hana called, "Reverse Revolution." She declared showing everyone four pairs of four.
Everyone was quiet, then, we all began laughing at Kyo. Kyo didn't seem to take it personally, in fact it looked like Kyo was having fun, I've never seen him smile so much before and it made me happy.
"Aw stick it!" Kyo retaliated to some of the boy's comments, " Come on let's play again." He said not willing to give up and lose.
Kyo lost, big time, and like a man he kept his word and agreed to clean the classroom, not even allowing Tohru or me to help, Yuki
Paid Kyo little mind as he talked to Tohru.
"Rich man, poor man, I know the rules but I can say that I've actually ever played the game."
"Uo just taught me and Amy how to play not to long ago, and it really is a lot of fun, you should play with us next time."
Yuki smirked, "So it looks like Kyo was the loser today, wasn't he."
Kyo stopped cleaning when he heard Yuki, he considered whether to answer Yuki's insult, Kyo settled with a simple "Grr" before he went back to cleaning.
"We offered to help, but Kyo seems keen on doing it all by himself." I spoke from my place onto of a table.
"A loss is a loss."
"You sure?" Tohru asked, feeling guilty that Kyo was cleaning the whole classroom by himself.
"Don't worry about it. I'll win next time," Kyo said firmly before pointing a finger at Yuki, "Just like I'll win against you!"
Yuki just looked at Kyo with a board expression, " wait, wait. I think I've heard his one before." He said Sarcastically causing Kyo to get angry.
"No joke ass-hole! I am going to beat you! That's a promise!"
"I wish you'd stop making your inferiority complex my problem."
"I swear, every time you open your mouth it pisses me off!"
"And every time you open yours you sound like an idiot."
Sighing I continued to watch them as they threw insults back and forth. In all honesty it was getting really tiring that every time they were in the same space they'd start fighting. It was grating on my last nerve.
"I'm gonna break your pretty-boy face!"
"That's enough!" I yelled gaining the attention of everyone in the room; Kyo stopped mid-punch looking over at me shocked.
"Is this really how you two act? You can't even be in the same room for five minutes without fighting?" I asked livid, "For goodness sake you're family! I don't care if you're the cat and the mouse! You're Yuki and Kyo first!" I felt my fists shake.
'I need to get out of here' turning around I walked towards the classroom door.
"Amy!" Tohru called, "where are you going."
"I'm going to see mum, I can't stand to look at them." I said crossly before walking out of the classroom.
The sun was almost setting and I still hadn't moved from my place in front of a headstone, but it wasn't just any headstone it was my mothers, Kyoko Honda. The woman whom I shared many similarities with, one of many is my temper. Hopefully I'll grow out of it like she did.
"Mum, why'd you have to go? I feel so lost without you." I said sorrowfully, my previous anger was replaced with sadness.
Sighing I got up, making my way from the cemetery and towards Shigures.
'Mum, I wish you had the chance to meet them- Shigure, Yuki, and Kyo… you would have liked them.'
