Chapter 4

"Gideon, I think it's safe to say, it's over between us." Ramona said.

"Are you okay? " Envy asked placing a hand on Gideon's shoulder.

"Back off." He snapped. "You think I need help from you?" Envy and everyone else-Scott included, looked at him in shock. Scott suddenly felt a feeling other than rage. Looking down in thought, the events of his past relationships with Kim, Envy, Knives and Ramona gripped his mind.

With Kim, he failed to inform her that he was moving to Toronto.

Envy was seeing Todd Ingram behind his back and she harshly dumped him, that which he blamed entirely on his haircut. Knives was the only one where he was the one who pulled the plug. Not only that, but he cheated on her with Ramona, knowing that he was still dating her. And the last of them all, was Ramona...she disappeared without a trace and he was so confused about whether it was his fault or not and it turned him into a hermit.

Through all this, he realized that he's no better than Gideon when it comes to relationships. The internal feeling that grasped within, combined with the endless rage was understanding.

He jumped from his thoughts and turned to his friends. Look-by-look, they were watching and waiting for him to end the battle once and for all. Though he looked like an enraged maniac, he could tell that they-as well as Kim-knew that he had a purpose; a reason. He realized then that despite all the mistakes he made in the past, he could still probably redeem himself into a better person.

He took a good look at himself, the aura constantly surrounding him...he needed to find control; he needed to put an end to all this. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath.

"G-Gideon...I...think I understand you, man." Scott stuttered, opening his flaming eyes. The Power of Rage was making it a tiny bit hard for him to speak. "And now...I-I have to k-kill you." The fire blazed heavily.

Gideon grabbed Envy, which shocked her. A "POP" was heard as he pulled a sword from her dress, which fell off, revealing an even sexier outfit.

"Yes! I had a sword built into Envy's dress in case of emergency. That's just the kind of guy I am!" Gideon yelled, arrogantly. "You think you can defeat me with your pathetic rage? Ramona belongs to me. I am the genius, you are an incompetent freak."

"I'm...more than...capable." Scott readied himself. "Now it's just you...and me."

"Um, Scott, I'm here too." Ramona reminded.

"N-No, Ramona. Like you said...I'm the one who started this. Now, I'm going to end it."

"Do you want the sword, at least?"

"I'm good." The conversation ended as a stare down between Scott and Gideon. Scott shot his palm open, his aura vibrating around him with extreme heat. Gideon fancily twirled the sword around and stood a Roofs Guard. The sword gleamed in the light.

Scott lunged after him with a fist raised. He took a swing but Gideon dodged out of the way and sent a swing towards him. Scott leaned back, avoiding the counter.

"It'll never work between you and Ramona. I've seen it all from the start." Gideon yelled. Scott used his speed and landed an uppercut to Gideon's abdomen, taking his breath away. Gideon staggered backwards, keeping himself on his feet.

"What are you talking about?" Scott asked. Gideon smirked, devilishly.

"I've watched you two do stuff. I saw everything." Gideon replied, lunging the sword towards Scott's chest.

"You were...the cat!?" Scott gasped, moving to the side, then ducking another swing. He stood up and shoulder charged Gideon into the pyramid. Gideon groaned, landing on a knee. He took a few breaths and glared at Scott.

"I was not the cat." He said, standing up. He pressed a button on the pyramid, activating a hidden staircase that lead to the top of the pyramid.

"Then why is his name Gideon?" Scott smirked.

"You named your cat Gideon?" Gideon asked to Ramona, shocked.

"I-I have have my own way of working things out, alright?" Ramona answered, looking the other direction.

"So how were you spying on us?" Scott asked, watching Gideon run up the steps.

Gideon reached the top and was met by Scott, who used his super speed to get there before him. Unafraid, Gideon readied himself once again.

"I was in your head, bud. I thought that sounded very clear." He said, attempting a barrage of attacks at Scott's chest. Scott blocked them with his forearms, which left a few cuts. They healed very quickly.

"The Subspace Highway?" Ramona yelled.

"Hell yeah. Very convenient I should say. Kinda empty, though except for some dull ass high school memories. I had to spice them up a little."

"No wonder I can't remember anything!" Scott cried. It all became so clear now. Gideon tampered with his memories so that Scott wouldn't feel he did much wrong in the past; a means of spicing his memories to make him vulnerable, whilst making room for him to spy on Scott and Ramona. The thought made Scott want to burst into fury.

"It's been you all along..." Scott clenched his fists, his aura growing a little brighter. "You've been the one tampering with my mind. You're the one whose been making me feel like a complete idiot. How dare you...! I'll make you pay!" He said landing a hook to Gideon's jaw, followed by an uppercut to the gut and a roundhouse kick.

Gideon grunted loudly as he staggered backwards. The crowd watched in horror as he nearly fell off the edge. He regained his balance and turned to Scott with anger. Scott balled his fists, making his knuckles crack. Gideon growled and charged at him, jumping into the air, preparing to strike. Scott too jumped in the air with a fist raised.

Gideon attempted to slash down but was impeded by another punch to his stomach. Gideon felt his breath was taken away and coughed up some blood. Scott landed back on his feet, whereas Gideon landed on his hands and knees gasping for air. Gideon slowly stood back on his feet and was instantly met by a swift series of attacks that were combined with Scott's speed; he was barely given a chance to fight back. Scott was practically invisible as he varied his attacks.

From below, nobody could tell where Scott was. It was like he was nowhere and everywhere at the same time. They could only see Gideon being attacked in some way.

"Don't blink!" Wallace shouted.

"What?" Stacey asked.

"Don't blink. Just keep your eyes open and follow along with Scott's movement." They all did what he mentioned and it worked. They could follow along with Scott's movements perfectly.

Gideon could feel the intensity of the beating. Every attempted counter-attack ended in him getting beaten senseless. He found himself fallen to his knees until he spotted Scott front-and-center, readying to deliver a double-punch finisher. Gideon's eyes beamed with delight; he grabbed the sword and impaled Scott in the chest.

"SKSSH!" Scott's eyes went wide and he grunted as Gideon twisted the sword to make him suffer. Scott made a series of gags and gasps until his eyes rolled to the back of his head; his head dropped. A malicious grin rose upon Gideon's face, as he leaned towards his ear.

"I told you, Pilgrim. I'm just better than you."

"Yeah, not really." Scott retorted, scaring Gideon. Scott punched him in the face, forcing him to let go of the sword. Gideon became frightened as Scott pulled the remains of the blade from his chest and broke it in half. He dropped the now broken sword made a super fast dash at him.

"WHONK!" Scott landed an uppercut to Gideon's chest Gideon coughed up more blood, as the punch was powerful enough to rip a hole in the back of his shirt. Everyone from below awed. Gideon staggered backwards, blood dripping from the corner of his mouth. He struggled on his feet as his body had practically given up on him.

"POW, WHOCK, BAM, THUPP, KAM!" Scott landed various attacks all over Gideon's now broken body. Gideon collapsed onto his knees, desperately trying to gasp for air. Scott stood over him, fists clenched tightly with sheer anger running through him.

"Give me back my memories." Scott ordered. Gideon let out a dying chuckle.

"You think it's that easy, Pilgrim? You think I can just hand back your stupid ass memories? I'd love to break it to you' pal...but I don't have them. Least not anymore." Gideon explained.

"What? Well, then where are they? How do I get them back?"

"Hehe...don't you think it's obvious? You do have them." Gideon said, receiving a confused glare. "Let me repeat that...YOU...have them."

Scott suddenly realized exactly what he meant. The thought of whom Gideon spoke of was haunting; his anger shifted into fear. There was only one possible being capable of carrying Scott's memories.

"You, you ass! You're the one who created the Nega-Scott!?" Scott snapped, the flames in his eyes blazing once again. He yanked Gideon by the shirt. "I'll break you in two!"

Gideon gave him with a creepy smile.

"Life really sucks, doesn't it?" Gideon chuckled which shifted to coughing.

"Your life definitely sucks right now." Scott retorted.

"Killing me…won't save you…Ramona...or anyone. You're your own worst enemy. Look at you...all that rage; all that power. It raises some questions along the way."

"…What are you saying?" Scott asked.

"God, you're an idiot. You have all that power...but so little control. You were a maniac tonight...bet you couldn't even control your own heartbeat. Hehe...ask yourself, Pilgrim: What is power but another means of tyranny and destruction? What if you get so pissed...so violent that...say...Ramona or your sister or any of your friends get caught in the crossfire...they could get seriously hurt...or they could die, whatever. And you won't be able to do anything about it because you'll be too busy destroying everything." Gideon gave a sickening laugh. "You would've made an excellent inclusion to the league."

Scott felt his anger rise, but the words seemed all too legit. Scott barely had any control of himself experiencing the Power of Rage. He hurt Ramona-regardless of it being unintentional-and he almost brought danger to everyone. If that were to happen again, then what? Would he even bare to live with himself? If anybody he cared about got hurt in the slightest...would he even want to live anymore? Scott could feel himself grow tense; he became so afraid that his aura started to diminish. He took a few steps away from Gideon but then felt something touch his shoulder.

He turned and saw Ramona, smiling at him courageously.

"Ramona, no! Don't touch...me?" Her smile grew wider. She wasn't even being electrocuted; nothing was happening. But, the question of how was a mystery. Perhaps it was because Scott had a tad more control over himself. He looked back up at Ramona and smiled. Scott turned back to Gideon, his glow becoming brighter,

"It 's never coming to that, Gideon. Unlike you, my friends believe in me...my friends care about me and I know they're gonna help me...right guys?" Scott yelled downwards.

"Yeah, sure, whatever, Scott." Wallace answered.

"Plus, I'm pretty sure you're a lot worse, dude." Ramona said to Gideon.

"You're definitely worse." Scott agreed, receiving a look of disbelief from his enemy. "Gideon Graves, for messing with my mind...with Ramona's mind, for the sake of all mankind..." He gripped onto Gideon's head and raised a fist. "I'm sending you to hell!" Scott landed a hard knee to Gideon's jaw.

Gideon screamed as his body trailed coins from his head to his feet. A massive geyser of coins shot into the air.

Defeated Gideon
Value: $7,777,777

As Scott's glow fully disappeared, the coins rained down to the audience. At first it looked peaceful, but then cries of pain filled the room as the sharp coins landed on them.

"Is it over? Cause I'm bored." Ramona asked.

"I think...we may be done." Scott replied until they heard loud high heels approaching them. Envy glared at them as they stared at her in worry. She embraced Scott in a hug, shocking him. He blushed red, considering she was barely clothed. It changed into a cheerful smile and he hugged her back; he finally received closure.

"So, were you and Gideon like, a thing?" Scott asked curiously.

"We could have been. But I had my doubts about him feeling that way. I think to me, I was just after the power, the connections, the money…" Envy explained.

"The money." Ramona whispered.

"Anyway, he was crap, so I'm over it. And you, that glowing thing? I'd keep that in check if I were you."

"What? But I-"

"We dated for two years, Scott. I think I know you a lot better by now. You get angry pretty easy, but at the same time, you have a good heart." She said with a smile. "P.S. Get off my stage."

After Envy's performance, the trapped girls were free from their frozen imprisonment and all of them...well, they were pretty bitchy about it. We'll skip the ongoing complaints for the sake of the audience.

"Uh, shouldn't we be picking this stuff up?" Scott asked referring to the load of debris from Ramona's bag. Ramona simply shrugged.

"So not interested. I was actually looking for an excuse to get a new bag, anyway." She said, her arm wrapped around Scott's.

"Hey, congrats, kids." Wallace said, sitting on a couch with Stacey, Mobile and a few others. "They're shutting down my new favorite club after one night but I'm glad you two got your crap sorted out."

"So like, when you guys disappeared during the fight...what was that all about?"

"I don't remember much...OH WAIT! I totally do! I was in Ramona's head and Gideon turned eighty feet tall and was like, holding her captive like a total bad dude, then I literally flew into him at top speed and head-butted him and then he started attacking me but then a bunch of Ramona's showed up and beat the living hell out of him. It was so awesome!" Scott said, exaggerating the hype.

Everyone stared at him, meekly. They did believe him about the flying, however, seeing as they witnessed it for themselves.

"So, where've you been all year, Rammy?" Stacey asked.

"You really wanna know?" She asked just to be sure. She obviously received a bunch of nods. "Dudes, I just went to my dad's. He lives in the middle of nowhere. I thought I'd get my head together and come back in a week or two. Like, a wilderness sabbatical." She explained.

"You see, Scott? Wilderness!" Wallace teased.

"What are you talking about? You didn't even send me on a wilderness sabbatical."

"I had planned to, in the case that you didn't get your head straight and planned to hide forever. But, you get the picture."

"But anyway, it didn't really work out that way. I actually ended up sleeping around all day, messing around on the internet and watching every episode of The X-Files. Buuuut at least I got the guts to call you, Scott."

"At 2 in the morning!" Scott said, annoyed. He spent 4 months of his life in a crappy apartment, in a crappy couch, all because she went to her father's and watched an overrated TV show.

"It was a very long and interesting series." She argued. Scott started to glow red a bit which every one quickly noticed.

"Whoa, whoa, Scott, calm down, it's not that big of a deal." Wallace exclaimed, desperately trying to calm him down.

"Not a big deal? I was in torment for months!" Scott thought, angrily. He glared at everyone.

"Scott...relax." Stacey said, putting a hand on his arm. Scott glanced at his sister and frowned. He looked downward as his glow went away.

"If you need me, I'll be at the elevator." Scott mumbled, excusing himself from the group. Everyone else watched him.

"He really needs to keep an eye on that thing. It seems...unstable." Mobile advised.

"What do you mean?" Ramona asked.

"I can sense it in his chi. That level of anger is way too much for the human body to handle; nobody could survive that. It's a miracle he's still alive, really."

"You've seen this before?" Stephen Stills asked.

"About 9 times, actually...and none of them survived." Mobile said. "Anyway, miracle or not, he really needs to watch himself. We all do, really. Chances are if he becomes too enraged...his power could possibly end up killing him."

Everyone became a little nervous after hearing that.

"Well, all we have to do is keep him calm, right?" Ramona asked.

"Yeah, pretty much." Mobile shrugged.

"How do you suggest we do that?"

"Come on, he's Scott Pilgrim. Anything having to do with video games or Ramona's safety will automatically make him serene." Wallace laughed. "And now that the exes are dead and Ramona being back, we pretty much have nothing to worry about." Ramona narrowed her eyebrows. "I guess you two were meant to be after all, Rammy."

"Just call me for the wedding." Stacey sighed. Ramona looked down in thought.

"He needs you, Ramona...now more than ever...go to him. We'll catch up with you guys in a few." Wallace advised. She said nothing. She glanced back at the elevator, then turned to the others and nodded.

Ramona stepped into the elevator which Scott was situated. He was leaned against the wall with his arms crossed. He had a glum expression on his face as he stared at the floor; he didn't even acknowledge her presence. Ramona sucked up all the bravery she had in her and walked over to him.

"Hey...you okay?" She asked. He didn't answer. She stepped in front of him and by the look on his face, he was obviously bothered. "Scott, is something wrong?" Still no answer. "Dude, if something's bothering you, you know you can talk to me."

He didn't budge. She rolled her eyes and grabbed his cheeks, forcing him to look her in the eyes.

"Scott, just tell me what's bothering you. If it's really important, you should tell me now...look me in the eyes and tell me what's on your mind."

She let go of his face and he sighed.

"Well...it's just that...what if everything Gideon said is true?" He said.

"What?"

"I mean, what if Gideon's right? What if, one day I lose complete control of myself and...somehow I don't come back and I destroy everything. Everyone I love is gone because of me. I could never bare to live with myself if that happened. I think I...I think I'm becoming a monster." He asked, looking her deep in the eyes.

Ramona stared in concern. This was...unlike him. Not once during their entire relationship did he ever take anything so seriously; except maybe when it came to video games, but this, this was completely different. Before she left, he was this kind, loving, determined and...pretty idiotic dude. Now after just one night he's...different.

"It really does take one bad day to change someone." She thought. She could see how distraught he felt about the entire situation. So she did what any girlfriend would do; she talked to him.

"Well, tell me this first, Scott: What was it like? Like, what did you see, how did you feel?" She started.

"Well, I...I just…I felt like this thing was inside of me, taking control of my every move. Like another part of me took over; a part of me I didn't know I had. I couldn't tell what was going on or where I was...I didn't even know if it was real or not...I...I couldn't even speak. All I know is that...when Gideon stabbed you...everything went red. Something deep inside me was waiting to come out and it finally did."

"And the fire in your eyes thing? What did that feel like?"

"Uh...I didn't 'feel' anything. But...the world did look like it was on fire. But once I got control of myself, it was...normal. Maybe I am a monster."

"Scott, you're not a monster, nor are you becoming one." She said sincerely. "What Gideon said was total bull and will never and I mean never happen. I'm sure of it because I know that you have enough will power to stay in control of your own emotions. You just can't let your anger get the best of you, that's all. You're a good person and I know it and deep down, so do you." She said with a smile. "And if things don't really go that way, then, we'll be there to help you…we care about you, lamewad."

Scott couldn't help but smile. They embraced each other in a comforting hug. Maybe Ramona was right. If Ramona was confident that everything would be all right, then maybe he could be too. All he had to do was believe in himself. He was internally telling himself that.

"…Things can't be the same, can they?" Scott asked.

"Dude…nothing ever was the same." She said, straightening his collar. "Change is…it's just what we get in life. Like your rage for instance. You'll probably have to spend the rest of your life that way. It might take a while but we both know you'll pull through. But for me well, it's just different. I guess my problems are-they make me feel like I'm always trying to beat the clock, outrun the universe…like nothing can ever change me unless I change first. It's like I'm in this river, just getting swept along…and even if I hold on to anyone, for dear life, I'm still not getting anywhere. I'm just…stuck, even when I don't wanna be." Ramona explained.

"Well I dunno yet…um, maybe we can get together somewhere. Maybe we can both get unstuck. That way, I could probably get used to these new powers and you can finally accept yourself for who you are. We'd have to be careful though; in the chances that I'm not able to fly us out, it could probably get very messy. But on the other hand, maybe it'd be totally worth it. We just have to hold on to each other as hard as we can." Scott said, holding her hand.

"I've never really been good at holding on." She said, nervously.

"Hey, you'll get it. It just takes practice." Scott reassured with a wink, giving her a smile. "And I'm glad you called me. I really, really missed you." She kissed him on the cheek, making him blush a bit.

"Me too. I really hope you can fly us out if it doesn't work. I've always hated falling."

"Hey, we'll see. Like I said, it just takes a little practice."

(Outside)

"So…where to?" Scott asked with a smile.

"What?" Ramona asked confused.

"Well I…I figured since I can fly now, I thought it'd be okay to…you know, fly you home or whatever." Scott suggested, rubbing the back of his head. She chuckled a little and said:

"I'd love to. Beats walking, anyway." She answered. A smile grew onto Scott's face as she climbed onto his back. "How about we just go to your apartment? I'll have to talk to my landlord about having mine back tomorrow."

"With pleasure. Hold on tight." He said as he flew into the air. As he flew, his body started to glow again which worried Ramona at first. However, she shook it off seeing that she wasn't being electrocuted neither was Scott becoming enraged…this was just another adjustment they'd have to get used to.

(A few days later)

After discovering the coming out of his best friend, Stephen Stills and departing from his ex-girlfriend Knives, Scott headed over to the park where he and Ramona agreed they'd meet so they could rekindle their relationship. He headed up the stairs where Ramona waited for him. She stood in front of an old Subspace door.

"So…" Scott mumbled rubbing the back of his head.

"So?" Ramona repeated.

"So…we try again."

Ramona smiled and grabbed his hand as the door slowly opened, revealing nothing but darkness. They stared into each other's eyes and nodded.

"Remember, if this doesn't go smoothly, I'll fly us out as fast as I can."

"I know you will, Scott. I...I trust you." She smiled. He smiled back.

They jumped into the Subspace doorway, where soon enough, everything started getting bright. They held onto each other as hard as they could until they were eventually out of sight, heading towards wherever their future would lead them. A large red glow could be seen from within. This would have signaled for at least some form of happy ending, but unfortunately, it wouldn't be that easy.

From outside, a dark figure approached the Subspace door with an evil grin on his face. His hair was shaggy, but dark. He wore a dark pair of jeans, a dark parka with a dark t-shirt under it. Needless to say, everything about him was dark. The figure opened the door and chuckled evilly.

'If you only knew what the future holds in store for you, Scott. That thing…the rage inside you is worse than you could ever imagine. You may think you're stepping into a better future, but you're just going towards a bigger nightmare. Sooner or later, Scott, you're gonna have to learn that no matter where you go or how far you run from me, I will always be there...after all...I AM you.'

Nega-Scott shut the door and dismissed into the shadows, where he would await the day, he and his twin would meet again.

The End…for now

Okay, that's the end of my rewritten story. I hope you all enjoyed the adjustments I've made. But the story is far from over as you can probably tell. Keep a look out for my rewritten version of Scott Pilgrim VS His New Life. I promise it'll be more intense than you can imagine. Until then, like I said, the first chapter will be uploaded soon and I'll see you guys then. But more importantly, I'm very sorry I ditched you guys for a bunch of talking chipmunks.

I wasn't sure what came over me when I got into that stuff. But now, I'm back and you have no idea how happy I am to be back in the Scott Pilgrim forum, even though I've noticed how much it's gone downhill. Until then, see ya when I see ya. Goodnight!
