Inuyasha had just finished his remaining work of giving orders to his recently recruited archangels. Now he was headed home, he actually got done a little earlier this time and would end up home by eleven. He could spend a little more time with Koga now. He considered perhaps telling his boyfriend the truth about who he is and what he really does, and maybe then Koga could understand. Although he really didn't want to involve the one he loved just in case something terrible might happen to him.
He sighed as he entered the apartment noticing that it was strangely quiet. Looking around he didn't see Koga on the couch like he usually was when he came home late. Suddenly the hall light came on his boyfriend Koga stood there completely stone faced, looking at him.
"Hey Koga, did you eat anything?" he didn't respond to Inuyasha's question, but instead continued to stare at him. Inuyasha was starting to get worried.
"Koga is something wrong", the black haired male still didn't say anything and slowly walked towards him. Inuyasha was starting to get a little creeped out by his behavior.
"Koga?" said man was now inches away from him with both hands against the wall behind Inuyasha pinning him there. Koga stared down on Inuyasha's face with a blank unreadable expression.
"Was this all just a game to you?" Koga finally said after a few minutes of awkward silence.
"What are you talking about?" Inuyasha asked.
"Was everything we had just a game!" he yelled this time.
"I don't know what you're asking!" it was Inuyasha's turn to yell, he was very confused now, he had no idea where this was coming from.
"You can stop this charade now…Phantom Blade!" Inuyasha's eyes went wide at being called by his alias. His thoughts ran wild, how did his lover find out, why was he asking these questions?
"Koga listen I can explain", he didn't get to finish as his boyfriend gripped the front of his shirt and lifted him up off the ground.
"Stop messing with me you know who I am, don't you!" Koga was screaming now, he was furious now. The conclusion that he came to was that Inuyasha had figured out that he was his enemy Lightning Wolf long before they got together and lured him into a relationship just to toy with him and hide under his nose. Koga also deep down wanted to cry, he loved Inuyasha and coming to the realization that it was all a lie; every kiss, every spoken I love you, every night they spent making passionate love. He wanted to beat this bastard to near death for playing with him, but at the same time he wanted to breakdown, hold Inuyasha, and ask what kind of heartless monster would do this. "You knew I was Lightning Wolf, you sick bastard, I'll never forgive you for this, never!" he said slamming Inuyasha against the wall.
"What!" now it was Inuyasha turn to freak out, Koga his boyfriend who he absolutely loved more than life itself was actually his once enemy, now agent of his Archangel program. He started to feel faint and queasy, it was certainly a lot to take in. Then he was able to think clearly for a moment when he realized the implications of what Koga just said.
'He must think I'm some evil asshole that deceived him', he thought knowing that it was the furthest thing from the truth.
"Koga please listen to me", he tried reaching out to touch his boyfriend only to have his hand smacked away harshly.
"Shut up I'm not listening to anymore of your lies!" the sudden sound of police sirens interrupted any further conversation. "I called the police and sent them the proof of you being the criminal known as Phantom, they'll be here in a minute to arrest you", Koga said rather coldly. Inuyasha looked so hurt and betrayed that for a moment Koga forgot that Inuyasha was an evil criminal in his mind, he quickly blocked out the urge to comfort him and faced him with apathy and indifference. "And don't bother trying to escape; you're completely powerless without your enchanted sword".
"Koga why?" Inuyasha was completely heartbroken now.
"Enough games, your crimes end here", Koga said crossing his arms, the police would soon enter the building to haul Inuyasha away to jail where he would finally pay for his deeds and be out of his life for good. He just wanted to get on with his life now and forget all this.
"You're right without my sword I'm powerless, but…" suddenly a black tear in space appeared and flying out of it Inuyasha's fabled demon sword that gave him his name appeared floating towards him until the white haired man griped the hilt. "the sword always comes to me when I need it. It looks like my sword is the only thing I can count on anymore", Inuyasha said sadly before jumping into the black rift, Koga was too stunned to do anything about it.
When his ex-boyfriend was gone Koga punched the wall in frustration, he never had a chance at catching Phantom Blade if his powers were this extensive. It was really by a complete accident that he stumbled upon Inuyasha's secret, no detective work, no clever plans, just a fluke. The police came and he told them how his enemy escaped to who knows where. Now that they knew his real identity they were sure they could catch him, but Koga knew that Inuyasha was too smart for that. The cops left Koga in his apartment alone where he wandered from room to room looking at pictures of himself with Inuyasha and some of his belongings he left behind, he reminisced about all the times they shared together. He found himself clenching his fists tightly in frustration; even after everything he still loved Inuyasha with all his heat. The relationship may have been a rouse, but the love he felt for him was real, at least to him.
THREE MONTHS LATER
Three months have passed since Inuyasha disappeared from his life, three months and Koga was not any closer to hunting him down. His ex-boyfriend had completely dropped off radar, not a trace of him could be found, the police tried questioning his older half-brother Sesshomaru, but the man denied any knowledge of his younger sibling's actions and the authorities let him be when no evidence to any possible connection to Inuyasha's crimes could be found.
During that time Koga seemed to grow more depressed over the events that transpired. He kept going over every interaction every moment he spent with Inuyasha and he couldn't find a single shred of evidence that it was all an act, it just seemed to real to have been a game, either that or Inuyasha had to be the greatest actor in the world to pull it off. He saw sides to Inuyasha, he saw all of his joy, his tears, his laughter and his love, it had to be real, it just had to be. Then that lead to a possible scenario where Inuyasha truly didn't know he was Lightning Wolf and Koga wasn't sure he could accept that yet. He needed more information before he came to the truth.
Koga decided he would go see Sesshomaru himself and try to get the truth from him one way or another. He arrived at the large skyscraper around noon and demanded to speak to the president of the company at once. They tried to have security throw him out, but he easily made his way passed them, and up to the big shot's office.
"May I ask why you barged into my office without an appointment?" the indifferent voice of Sesshomaru spoke from his desk, he didn't bother looking up from his work, the people at the front desk already told him who was in the lobby demanding an audience with him.
"I don't have the time or patience for that shit, I need answers", Koga said in a serious tone, he came here for the truth and he wasn't leaving without it.
"Sit down", Koga did as he was told waiting for the other to speak. He knew that Inuyasha and his brother were closer than they liked to let on, so it was fairly obvious that Sesshomaru knew more about Inuyasha's exploits than he told the authorities.
"I'm sure you know that your brother is a wanted criminal", Koga spoke while Sesshomaru just remained silent staring at him.
"Yes", was the stoic man's single response.
"Doesn't that bother you at all?" Koga asked.
"Yes it does", he said with the same disenchanted tone.
"You don't sound all that worried", Sesshomaru gave him a small smirk showing just how worried he really was.
"My little brother is very clever, and the Tessaiga is nothing to scoff at either, the two of them are quite the pair", Sesshomaru the truth was that he knew Inuyasha was fine and he was in fact in contact with him.
"Tessaiga, is that what that damn sword is called?" Koga asked, he didn't realize that the mystical blade had a name.
"Yes the Tessaiga is a legendary demon weapon passed down from our ancestors; he inherited it from our father. It is said the sword only reveals its power to one who deserves and one who needs it", Sesshomaru said with pride. "It is very impressive, it's raw destructive powers, coupled with the ability to cut through space and dimensions, he could literally be anywhere in world right now".
"And yet it revealed itself to a criminal thief like Inuyasha", Koga's words sounded harsh as he spat his ex-boyfriends name.
"Is that what you think he is?" Sesshomaru asked with a raised eyebrow.
"What else could he be other than a liar and a thief?" Koga yelled.
"You really are clueless aren't you, Lightning Wolf", Koga wasn't even surprised that he knew his secret identity it was just further proof that was still in contact with his younger brother. "All that time you spent with Inuyasha and he never once displayed any of the wealth you say he stole", Koga thought about and Sesshomaru had a point, Inuyasha never spent or used any of the money from the treasures he stole.
"Then why steal so much?" Koga asked, it didn't make any sense to him, why would Inuyasha steal if he didn't plan on using the money.
"Inuyasha wanted to fulfill a promise and see his vision come to fruition. He used all the money for a great purpose and I stand by his actions", Sesshomaru leaned back in his chair looking at Koga's confused expression. "The only reason I'm telling you any of this is for my brother's sake".
"What are you talking about?"
"Don't play dumb, I know the real reason you came here. You didn't come here seeking Inuyasha locations, nor did you want to know why he became a criminal. You want to know whether or not Inuyasha really loved you is that right?" Koga reluctantly nodded his head. That was the heaviest question on his mind when he walked into this building.
"He never deceived you, the feelings he held for you were real. He told me how much he loved you and he still does love you", Koga could come to the conclusion that he feared the most that he and Inuyasha were arch enemies that fell in love without knowing who the other really was. That wasn't true though, Lightning Wolf and Phantom Blade were just their aliases, their masks that they wore, it was the people behind those masks, their true selves that were drawn to one another and bonded. There were no lies in Inuyasha's words or kiss.
"I have to find him, where is he?" Koga asked standing up in a rush.
"I don't know perhaps you should ask your boss", the white haired man said with a knowing smirk.
"My boss?"
"You are one of the Archangels aren't you?" Koga was shocked that he knew of such things, he was told that the organization was a secret known only to the highest government officials around the world. "Yes I know about it, go speak with the head of the program he should be able to tell you what you need to know", and with that he returned to his work giving Koga a dismissive wave of his hand.
An hour later Koga found himself marching into the lobby of the Archangel Branch headquarters that he was now affiliated with. He didn't even bother wearing his costume; he was just himself right now. Myoga greeted him not even fazed by the lack of disguise.
"I need to talk to Z, right now!" Myoga didn't say anything he just bowed and led Koga into the elevator. "Not the meeting room, I need to speak to him in person", Myoga simply nodded his head and revealed a secret button on the elevator button panel with the letter z on it. After pressing it they elevator took them up to a floor Koga had never been to in this building before.
"I'm afraid he can't see you in person, but this is as close as you can get to talking to him in private", Myoga said letting the door open to a large barely lit room. Koga walked in to face a large monitor screen as the elevator doors closed behind him leaving him alone. The screen came to life with a large letter z in red showing itself.
"Yes what is it?" the distorted voice of the commander Z spoke, it sounded to Koga like something was troubling him by the way he talked.
"I need to know everything about Phantom Blade, his history, his motives, everything", Koga said standing tall.
"He is a currently wanted criminal, what more could you possibly want to know about him?" Z asked.
"It's not him, I want to know everything about Inuyasha, the man behind the criminal", Koga waited patiently while Z remained silent for a few moments.
"Well he's an interesting story", Z said with an almost sad sigh.
"Tell me please", Koga sounded kind of desperate now.
"There was a boy named Inuyasha years ago, he lived with his mother alone, a woman who ran a bookstore that was handed down through her family until she died".
"Yes I know, Inuyasha said she died from cancer right?" Koga said remembering what his ex-boyfriend told him about his mother.
"Sorry to say that was lie", Z said sadly, while Koga remained silent in confusion. "The truth was that she was murdered, it happened when he was nine years old. While she was closing her bookstore, before she could lock the door a man came in pretending to be interested in a job. Inuyasha was watching from behind one of the bookshelves when his mother turned around and was shot through the back three times. The man broke into the cash register and took all the money. Can you believe it, that bastard shot a woman in the back all for a little bit of money? " Z spat out in disgust before continuing with the story. "The nine year old Inuyasha saw the whole thing happen and when the man left he crawled over to his mother and begged her to be all right, she died in his arms with him crying and screaming for someone to come help, but no one ever came", Z paused for a moment to let that sink in, "Inuyasha spent a year after that wishing that someone had saved her, he wanted to go back in time in save her, but that was impossible so the only thing he could now do was try and make sure it doesn't happen to anyone again. It wasn't long after that he came up with a plan, a goal to change this world for the better, but the only way to do that he would need a lot of money to accomplish it, so he decided to steal it from the wealthy that wouldn't be all that affected by a few lost precious treasures".
"So that's it, that's the truth?" Koga said in shock, everything Inuyasha did was actually for the greater good, he couldn't have been more wrong about his intentions. Koga felt like laughing at his own stupidity, here he was a, a super human that prided himself on his detective skills and he couldn't see past the black and white concepts of good and evil.
"Do you know where Inuyasha is, I need to see him as soon as possible", Koga asked desperately.
"And what will you do when you see him?" Z asked sounding more curious then skeptical.
"Tell him I'm sorry for not understanding him, then tell him how much I love him hold onto him and never let go for as long as I live", Koga said with confidence.
"Is that a fact?"
"It's a promise", the distorted voice of the commander sighed at that and suddenly the screen started to slide upwards revealing a hidden door.
"Come inside Koga I think we should speak face to face over this matter", Koga was surprised he never thought that he'd ever get to meet the founder and leader of Archangel, the man was always so secretive preferring to hide behind a monitor screen and fake voice to preserve the organization's secrets. Stepping inside Koga looked around to see multiple large computer screens surrounding the large circular room. In the middle a series of different control panels and keyboards where a large leather chair sat turned away from him.
"Z is that you?" Koga asked seeing a hand set a coffee cup down on the table on the other side of the chair.
"Yes I am Z", the mysterious man spoke without any digital voice disguise. Koga's eyes went wide in shock when he heard his commander's voice.
'That voice, it can't be can it?' he thought staring at the backside of the chair that began to slowly turn towards him. Inuyasha his ex-boyfriend also now known as the Phantom Blade sat in the chair looking at Koga with his big sad golden eyes.
"Hi Koga", Inuyasha said to his now speechless ex-lover.
"Inuyasha you're Z, you created Archangel", he said walking closer to him. Inuyasha stood up before he replied.
"Yes that story I you was true, this organization was an idea I came up with after what happened to my mother, I vowed I wouldn't let that happen again and promised to gather as many super humans as possible to protect this world", he said explaining how Archangel was his gift to the world and his late mother. Koga was filled with pride over how strong and smart Inuyasha is, he had never been so happy over being wrong in all his life.
"I'm sorry I didn't share this information with you, but I wanted to protect you. I know what's it like to lose someone important and I don't think I could take losing you", Inuyasha said sadly looking away from the man he still loved. He was caught off guard when Koga took him into a tight embrace.
"Inuyasha I'm sorry for turning you in and ruining your personal life, can you ever forgive me?" Koga asked burying his face in the soft snow white hair. For a while they just stood there in each other's arms.
"I already forgave you for that, I could understand how it looked from your perspective, you are my arch nemesis you know", Inuyasha smiled.
"And you're my arch nemesis who I love with every fiber of my being", Koga said with a smirk as he placed a slow passionate kiss on Inuyasha's soft welcoming lips.
And so the once bitter enemies were reunited and continued to love each other while protecting the world together.
