Review Response: To those I am not able to private message to.

Reader: I wasn't intending to have Hikigaya and Hayama "friendly" towards another and OOC. I intended them to be ambivalent towards one another, as they just work for the same people.

Hikigaya is a regular detective in the Japanese police force, and as for Police Jurisdiction, I think it can be worked out between foreign nations. His cynicism, I thought I had enough to put in. But you got a fair point; it needs some more snarky remarks. Though this time around, if you haven't notice he's a smoker and alcoholic along with additional issues. I did have some of his issues dropped and redacted though, plus some things that might inflame some people from canon.

I admit I watched the anime, bits of the manga, but I only managed to read the first three light novels, I like to read the novels in order. They're still translating the fourth novel so far.

For grammar, I blame Microsoft Word 2010, and Google Docs. They're not the most smartest and best when it comes to grammar. I really need a beta for this. If anyone is interested in co-writing or any other helping, please private message me. And now folks, let us go back to the main story.

I of course, have also edited a bit on the first chapter for some grammar and canonical errors. And to those who don't know, I'm not one for comedy, as this will be getting dark as seen in the previous chapter and other works I have posted. I also don't care whatever the hell it is called, so I leave that up to you guys.

Chapter 2

The same day…

Saika Totsuka was in the park with her daughter. She had fair skin accompanied with very short, navy blue hair and radiant, red eyes. She was sitting on a bench dressed in a business suit and watched her daughter from a nearby distance as he played on the playground. Her daughter Hikari inherited her looks. A man in a coat with a newspaper walked up to the bench and sat next to here, he was your average looking guy, nothing there was not much to tell him apart from a crowd in the distance, just your common black hair and brown eyes.

"We have a job for you." He said as he appeared to read his newspaper

She tried not to look like she was paying attention to the man.

"Right now, right when I'm with my kid?" She responded in a dismal tone.

"Look, Tsugumi you have your orders. It won't be immediate, the job's at six. Just see the kid off with your mother."

The man then left afterwards. Totsuka sat there trying to not look frustrated and sorrowful. Her girl waved to her from the slide. The man had left his newspaper on the bench. She picked up the newspaper, and inside was an envelope containing the target's information and whereabouts.

-x-

Hours later…

It was a dark and rainy night. In the sky was an airship with the advertisements for settlements in the Colonies. At the same time, on top of a skyscraper, Totsuka was at the rooftop and had a briefcase with her. She opened it to reveal a sniper rifle. She quickly assembled the gun. About 50 yards away, was the target. The target was a man in a business suit surrounded by his bodyguard entourage. She took a deep breath and looking through the scope. Aiming at the man, she then immediately fired her rifle at the man. As the target was about to walk to his car, the bullet clearly blew off his head. His guards and people around the area went into chaos, as they tried to avoid the shooter's crosshairs. Unknown to them, Totsuka was obviously only after that man; everyone else was not on the list. Plus she didn't want to spill innocent blood. She quickly disassembled her gun and removed any evidence including casings and footprints before speeding off away from the scene.

Minutes later…

The Cops arrived shortly at the scene of the crime. It was only a few minutes after when they set up the Police tape. An ambulance was already there when Detective Shin Shinonono was at the scene. Shinonono was an average looking fellow with black hair and brown eyes, and dressed in a brown suit. With him was Detective Norio, a Spectre-type robot with the Police Department.

He found that the medical examiner over by the victim.

"You guys sure are fast." He remarked. "So what do we got this time?"

"Well, a gunshot to the head." The ME stating the obvious. "We got ourselves a sniper."

The victim appeared to be of South Asian descent, from his tan skin, black hair, and brown eyes.

"You got his name?"

"The victim's name is Narang Narayan and according to his Identification, we got ourselves a guy from India."

"The victim got a cellphone?"

"He does."

The ME handed over an evidence bag with a phone in it.

"So we got a ourselves a possible diplomatic incident? I'll check with the embassy about this." Norio stated.

"Excuse me, Detective?" said a voice.

Shinonono looked to the crowd at the scene, and one of them was trying to get his attention. The gray haired man was a big fella, in a suit with and black glasses. While Norio was talking with other witnesses, Shinonono walked up to the man and see what the fuss was about.

"Excuse, but I noticed that you wanted my attention?"

"I believe I can help." The man handed him his business card. "I'm Private Detective Zaimokuza Yoshiteru, at your service. I was doing a job for him, before well you know."

(He gestured to the crime scene.)

"Would you be willing to come down to the station, to give your statement?"

"I would. Not much else I can do."

-x-

A bit at the station…

In the interrogation room, Zaimokuza handed Shinonono a file and an USB at the table.

"His wife wanted to know about his infidelities."

Shinonono took a small look at the pictures. All he found was the victim talking with various people. There was a lack of any compromising evidence for infidelities, but the pictures did show suspicious dealings.

"Found nothing on the man on cheating, but I did manage to find some related illegal activities."

Putting the pictures back in the file, he knocked on the door and gave the evidence to one of the officers to be kept in the locker.

"Take these down to evidence." He said to the man.

Turning to the PI, he held out his hand.

"Thank you for your time, Mr. Zaimokuza."

The other man did likewise, and the two shook hands.

"Sure thing, though I didn't get my compensation…"

"I'll get someone to help."

"Alright, thanks Mr. Shinonono."

He let the PI go out first, an officer then came up to him outside the interrogation room.

"Detective, I just got word from the Indian Embassy, we got a fax of his file, and the findings by Mr. Zaimokuza collaborate with the victim's rap sheet."

Briefly looking at the file, he then gave new orders.

"Alright, get us what we can on the Yakuza and these new crime syndicates coming in. I want to know who else is involved with this mess."

"I'll be on it sir."

He turned his attention to Norio. The guy was sitting at his desk, looking at the files on his desk.

"Found anything, Norio?" He asked.

"Nothing so far, I'm still looking at the reports." Norio countered. "What about your end?"

"So far, we have nothing that we can prove as of yet."

The two of them sighed; there was much they still had to do. Outside the window, it was dark and rainy as usual. You could see bits of neon lights from an angle, probably from one of the floating zeppelins again. The station was doing business as usual, cops taking phone calls, offenders taken to the holding cells, and citizens leaving complaints. The bright lights from their desk computers and desk lamps lit the place much more effectively than the flickering lights hanging from the ceiling above their heads.

"The weather is sure crap again though."

"Agreed, when was the last time you saw a blue sky?"

"I can't actually recall myself."

Shinonono nodded, and the two went back to their work. Making some phone calls, and looking at their notes.

Elsewhere…

Totsuka was in her car, by her mother's home. She was on her phone, calling her boss. She heard the ringing stop, and the phone was picked up on the other end of the line.

"It's done." She stated.

"Good." He replied.

Hanging up the phone, Tsugumi got out of the car and walked up to the house. Knocking on the door, her mother opened it.

"Hi honey." Mrs. Totsuka greeted.

"Hello mom." Totsuka replied.

Tsugumi went into the home, and Hikari was in sitting on the couch watching TV with her grandpa.

"Hello dad."

"Hello dear." Mr. Totsuka greeted.

She picked up Hikari as she was about to take her home.

"Thanks for watching Hikari mom and dad."

"Not a problem, dear. We are always happy to watch our grandchild."

They waved goodbye, as they were leaving. She put her daughter in the back booster seat and then drove off towards their home.

-x-

When they reached their home, Tsugumi put her child in her bed, as she was tired. She left the baby monitor in the room and with her. She was sitting at the couch, watching some TV, when she heard a knock at the door. She was not expecting anyone, being precarious, she grabbed a pistol she secretly hid and looked through the eyehole. Much to her surprise, it was Hikigaya.

Hiding the gun away, she opened the door.

"Hachiman, I did not expect you here."

"Sorry, do you mind if I come in?"

"No, please come in."

She could smell the liquor from his breath. He took off his shoes he and closed the door behind him.

"Have you been drinking?"

"Yes, but it was a long day."

She went into the kitchen, and got out a glass from the cupboard and a bottle of prune juice from the fridge. Right on the counter was a tablet connected to the power outlet. Meanwhile Hikigaya was sitting the couch, look at the TV in a lump position. The look on his face showed his stress.

"Here." She handing it over to him.

He took it and began to drink it. She sat down next to him.

"You have prune juice?"

"It helps to keep it in handy."

"Well, arigato."

"How's Hikari? Is she doing okay?"

"She's fine. I have her on baby monitor in case she needs me."

"I see."

He was frowning, and he stared down in shame. She also looked saddened.

"How did you get here?"

"I walked, plus I'm not that level of drunk."

She leaned on his shoulder as they sat on the couch. She still had that worried look as he drunk state also showed his subtle bitterness. Hikigaya noticed that she was rather close to him, but he shrugged it off his mind.

"So, what's good on TV?"

"I don't know, nothing much, which is all I can say."

"Is there something, on your mind Hachiman?"

"Uh, I met with Hayama today at the bar. I can't stand that Son of Bitch. At least we rarely are in the same proximity, and that's a good thing."

"You going to let it all out, aren't you?"

"Well, when you put it that way…."

"No, just continue on, Hachiman."

"Well, alright then…. I keep up the facade so the public won't see the shitty mood I have. And then comes in Hayama, and it's a terrible day now. Tetsuya doesn't like us fighting at his work, but if it's somewhere else, it's free game. You have met Tetsuya right?"

"I think so, is he that robot bartender you use to work with?"

"Yeah, that's him. It's funny that my best friend is a robot, kind of ironic. He sometimes talks about his cousin Norio. Heard he's in the police force, but I haven't actually met the guy to get a good impression yet. Though with Tetsuya, I don't know if he sees me as a friend or with Hayama, my doubts are that he hates us both equally. And I find myself okay with this."

He took a breath.

"Well I feel much better letting all of that out. Did I wake up Hikari?"

"No, she's fine."

"Fair enough then, so how was your day?"

"Well, it was nothing out of ordinary. I just took Hikari out of the park."

"Good to here."

On the TV, was a game show playing. It was rather dull, and the two were losing their attention.

"Saika, do you mind if I stay the night?" Hikigaya asked abruptly.

"I don't mind at all, Hachiman." Saika replied.

On next was a historical drama, there were lots of them around on the market for some reason. It was a drama with Nobunaga in it, unfortunately though it was morphed to suite the purposes of yet another right-wing propaganda piece of shit. The two groaned at boredom from the political statements being spewed from the show.

But eventually after an hour of sitting together on the couch talking and watching TV, they left. Walking down the hallway of her home, she opened the door to her bedroom. The room was rather normal, white walls and a blue door. There was a closet to the right of the door, a desk by the window, and a clear glass cabinet with Gunpla in them. Totsuka laid her bed, and motioned for Hikigaya. He closed the door, and on that night they would make love.

The next day…

Tsugumi woke up in the morning, and lying to her side was Hikigaya. He was muttering something somewhat unintelligible in his sleep.

"I'm sorry, please don't hate me anymore…." He muttered in his sleep.

Tsugumi calmly lay next to him, slightly frowning.

"I'm not mad at you." She replied.

He did not hear her, but she hoped he really did. She then looked over to her bedroom closet, inside in hidden compartments was the secret life she hid. Totsuka pondered the choices she had done so far.

"I wonder what he would think if he knew?" She sadly thought.

She got up, put on some clothes, cleaned herself up, and made breakfast in the kitchen. But the thoughts were still on her mind. Opening the windows, it was yet another grey, dull cloudy sky as usual. A lot of people were getting sick of the weather.

Hachiman woke up slightly later that morning and got ready for the day. Like Tsugumi he thought about the things he done but most on his mind was Yukinoshita, he was not sure if she was alright, and he was feeling worried about her. They rarely kept in touch after high school. Hayama was in touch with her, but Araragi was not. This was scratching his head, he never heard of the Araragi family until two days ago. On the wall, in a clear case cabinet were several gunplas Tsugumi had. There were Gundams, Zakus, and various mobile suits in the collection for all shapes and colors. It somewhat lighten his heart a little bit, as they still shared the hobby. He got out of the room, and headed for the dining area. Hikigaya was on his day off, and so was Tsugumi. She had made some breakfast for the three of them.

"Papa, you're home." Hikari was awake, and greeted happily when she saw him.

"There's my girl." He said as he picked her up and hugged her in his arms. "Come on, your mother made you some breakfast."

She put her in a seat by the table, and there was steamed rice, miso soup, and some broiled/grilled fish, tamagoyaki (rolled omelet), tsukemono pickles, nori (dried seaweed), and natto.

"You didn't have to make this much."

"It's good to have to you here."

"Arigato Saika, itadakimasu."

"You're welcome, Itadakimasu." She said.

"Itadakimasu," Hikari repeated after her.

Turning on the TV, he searched for the morning news. When he found it, there was a breaking news banner read "Drug Dealer Massacre".

"How dreadful…." Tsugumi remarked.

"What do you know?" Hikigaya replied while looking in the internet from his phone.

"Good to know." commented Tsugumi.

"Mommy, what are they talking about on TV?" Hikari asked.

"Just some adult stuff dear, now go on and eat your breakfast." Tsugumi replied.

Hikari looked at her, and complied. She went back to eating.

Hikigaya saw that his arm was shaking.

"Shit, not this again." Hikigaya angrily remarked.

"What's the matter?" Totsuka commented looking worried.

"The nanobots I got injected with aren't acting well."

He then began to hit his arm a couple of times, and it went back to normal.

"I'll be setting up an appointment with the doctor later."

"That's a bit of a relief…." She said but there was still some skepticism in her voice.

"Noticed you still have the gunplas you and I made together. That's good to see." Hikigaya remarked.

Totsuka was enlightened by that, and a bit blushing.

"Say, we should take Hikari to the Gunpla store. So how about it?" continued Hikigaya.

"I'll like that very much." Tsugumi responded happily.

Meanwhile...

An old man was feeding some pigeons bread on a park bench by a small lake under the gray cloudy sky. He was rather tall and healthy looking for his age, he also had gray hair, and red eyes and wore a brown suit. Right next to him on the bench was a newspaper he had bought, one of the major headlines was: "Drug Dealer Massacre." Below that was an article about plans to have a ctOS in the city, like they did in the US. A familiar man walked up to the bench and sat beside him.

"You know, I can't recall how long it's been since the sun was shining." He remarked. "I got word last night. Splendid job she done. Tell Tsugumi my thanks for that, will you?"

"I will, sir." The man replied.

The older man and the other man got up from the bench and began walking away from the spot he fed the pigeons.

"Well, son come walk with me."

The other man nodded and followed.

"Son, do you know why I ordered that hit?"

"Not really, sir. I'm not so sure why. I mean it's been graciously peaceful for us."

"Do you know why I'm going to be the next don of the gang?"

"Not really, sir."

"The reason is I believe crime cannot be eradicated, and having it controlled is the only realistic solution. We can't have organized crime without law and order, you know that? We at least keep it civil in public and we're certainly a lot more "cleaner" than they are. We sent the newcomers a message, when they are going into my turf. The boss is already deciding on a new successor, and I'm certainly the most experienced for the job."

The man thought about it, and he understood.

"I understand sir. Are you not also a candidate for Commissioner?"

"Oh, I am too. I'll certainly have a lot of power in my hands if I do."

"Sir, do you think this new Syndicate would retaliate against us?"

"This is our land, and we got the law in our hands, son. They can go die trying. We can tell their mobs, yakuza, kosher nostra, the gangbangers, triads, tongs, yardies, mafias, or whatever they call their organized crime that we do mean business and we won't be pushovers. They'll have to take it from our cold dead hands."

"So when push comes to shove, we'll be ready."

"You got the right idea, boy."

They reached a parked black car. The chauffeur/driver stood by the car and opened the back seat door for the old man as he went and sat inside the vehicle.

"Take care of yourself, you here." He said as the car drove off. "We'll talk again later, Gim."

"Well alright then, Mr. Yuigahama." Mister Gim replied. "Let the best of luck be to ya."

The two nodded, Gim then departed as the car drove away.

"Mr. Yamaguchi, take me down to the Starbucks, I'll have to meet my daughter there." Yuigahama ordered.

"No problemao, boss." The driver responded and nodded. "I'll get you there as soon as I can."

Author's Note Two: Well that's it for my second chapter. For the people who manage to get past the first sentence. In this continuity, Saika is a girl, yes an actual girl. She's also a mother in this story here too. Different universe, different people, alright, anyone object? I'm working on making them not OOC, and we certainly won't see the last of them. I'm not sure if I'm going too fast or not. There's a lot of stuff going along here. If no one gets the references, I will of course list them in the Author's Note at the bottom at some time. If any of you have a concern, please leave a comment, leave a review, or private message me. Please follow or favorite if you like to or not. Well until next time, see you all later folks!
