Disclaimer: South Park = not mine
Christmas makes everyone just forget all their arguments and makes everyone just get along like best friends. Everything is beautiful and peaceful. No fights, arguments - just overwhelming love and happiness.
Bullshit. Or my parents weren't just aware of that fact. Okay, true, it wasn't Christmas yet, but pretty damn close.
I haven't get even half day peace with Tweek until an heated argument had explode and startled Tweek enough to drop his game controller.
I let out angry huff and turned TV's sounds up, trying to cover my mother's angry yells. Tweek twitched and turned to stare the door.
" S-shouldn't you do s-something?" he asked, clearly uncomfortable. He probably wasn't used to listen arguments like that.
" No point. It's not my problem if they can't get along", I told him swatting my hand in uncaring manner. There was frustrated scream and sound implying that something had just broke. I grimaced, normally my parent's fight didn't go that far
. I glanced at Tweek. My poor friend looked terrified, though he tried very hard to focus on the TV. His nervous twitches and restless eyes gave him away.
I turned my eyes back to the screen. We played in silence, listening sounds from downstairs. After a while, there was loud pang of the door and moment later car engines angry purr and sound of wheels sliding through the dirty slush and snow.
I bended my head enough to see outside from my window. I managed to see my mothers car red back lights before they disappeared behind the corner. I let out a sigh - it was never good when my mother left. Mostly she just kicked dad out for couple of hours, sometimes days, and went back to the normal mode like nothing had even happened, pretending there was nothing wrong.
I wasn't sure if the whole act was for us - her dear kids - or herself.
But when mother left it was worse. Father didn't have any desires to play nice and normal to us. He would always pull out loads of alcohol - it didn't matter wich kind, beer, rum, wine, everything would do - and sprawled over livingroom couch, watching TV and drinking untill he passed out.
It wouldn't bother me if he would keep his mouth shut and just silently drink. But no, he must keep his stupid mouth running like fucking river and try to kill his imagination friends or toss bottles around the flat, just because. And for all, he was really aggressive when he got drunk.
I fished my cell phone from floor - have no idea how it got there - and sent simply message for Ruby, who had left earlier so she didn't need to listen our parents shouting. Message told her to stay out, go stay over friend place, or wherever she wanted.
" You know, we should leave", I told Tweek, already ending our game. For my relief Tweek didn't ask. He nodded shakily and let me guided him downstairs.
Dad was already pulling the bottles out of our kitchen cabinets when we reached front door. In uncomfortable silence we slipped out.
Outside weather were gray and cold, fitting the scene. The sky hung over us lazily, covered with gray clouds that curved around the world like a blanket and blocked the rays of sun. Buildings and streets were only couple of shades darken than the sky, coated with dirty snow and slush.
I kept my face stoic, no emotions allowed. It wasn't like there were really any. I had long time ago crossed the point where I stopped caring about my parents arguments.
It wasn't my problem, so why to make it one?
I was too tired to care, anyways.
Next to me, Tweek were shaking like crazy, giving me worried glances behind his ridiculously long eyelashes. Still he remained quiet, not daring to ask. And I couldn't say, that I weren't silently thanking him for that. I didn't want to talk about my parents. I would only end up making him uncomfortable.
" Lets go to your place", I broke the silence with pointless request since we were already heading towards Tweeks home. Named blond nodded shakily and turned his head forward.
Tweeks room smelled like coffee. Well, everything in Tweaks house smelled like coffee. Even Tweek smelled like it - not saying, why I know what Tweek smells like.
Wasn't a bad smell. Not at all. I had learned to like smell of caffeine and taste by being friends with Tweek. Smell and taste of coffee reminded me of Tweek - I wonder why. To be honest, I had get quite attached to that smell. And since people drank actually crazy amounts of coffee, they kept sure, that Tweek remained firmly on my head.
I hadn't decided yet if it was bad or good thing.
" Behind you", I warned Tweek while a zombie trotted slowly towards Tweek on the TV-screen. Tweek let out a startled yelp, swirled his character around and shot - accidentally? - the zombie's head off.
We had just changed the place and continued our game. Tweeks controllers were in better shape than mine, anyways.
" God! I hate when they do that!" Tweek complained and turned to shoot more rotting corpses.
" Don't let 'em do that then", I said casually, making sure my back was secured.
We sat on Tweeks bed, curled little bit closer to each other that necessary. Tweeks was so close that his knee were practically top of my thigh and our shoulder were pressed together. While shooting zombies he had squirmed closer to me, too focused on the game to notice.
Wasn't like I complained. It were very comfortable position. I could stay like this forever. I could let this moment go forever.
Unfortunately it wasn't something I could decide.
Tweek made huge twitch and inched even closer, aiming the zombies that have gotten dangerously close.
" L-left", Tweek squawked, twirling his character to the named direction and let his gun sing. I followed him, slaughtering all corpses I could manage.
While time fly past, sun sank under the horizon and darkness spread over the town.
I checked time from my cellphone and let out disappointed sigh.
" Shouldn't I go home?" I asked, it was far from time Tweek normally said he should be home. Well we were already in Tweeks place, but would think that Tweeks should be home time would include time when his friend kicked out.
But yet hadn't blond even implied that I should get out.
" Ah, mmm...", Tweek started, nervously, twisting little, " I-I... I was thinking that ma-maybe you, ymh, shouldn't go h-home... I mean, that... it's... I... uhm." Tweeks voice faded awkwardly and he made attempt to grab his hairs.
Without thinking I grabbed his hands, stopping him. Tweeks mesmerizing, wide eyes flicked to mine, capturing my gaze and making my brains go blank for a moment. Even if my brains seemed to shut completely, my heart decided to work over laps.
" Umm...", I mumbled awkwardy, words getting tangled on my throat. Tweek blinked couple of times, then glanced down to his hands, still steadily on my grip.
I let go, my brains catching with the situation. My heart still bounded uncomfortable hard on my chest.
" I.. I just... Maybe you could stay here? I mean... Since ymh..", Tweek tried hard to not stumble over his words, failing miserably. Twitchy blond cleared his throat and turned his gaze to the sheets below.
" You asking me crash here this night?" I asked, fighting to keep my cool. Tweeks offer sounded almost too tempting, too good to be true. I would give very much to get off from my house and dad, even only for a one night. And if I could spent that night with Tweek... Even better.
Tweek nodded, giving me relieved, but at same time little embarrassed look.
" Yeah, t-that's it! I mean, if you want... I know we.. that we are little bit... ymh.. too old for s-sleepover.. But, I mean... Ack! It's too much pressure!" Tweek gave in and wailed and clung to his hairs.
'" Njah... It's cool, dude - thanks", I reassured, peeling Tweeks hands away from his head, " Now, come on, let go before you go bald."
" Ack! I don't wanna go bald! Do something, Craig!"
