Lily/Scorpius

February 2019

Scorpius walked through the Gryffindor common room tuning out the snickering of the other boys in his dorm as he made his way to the tiny red headed girl studying in the corner.

"Hey, Lily." He said startling her.

"Scorpius, hi." She responded smiling brightly at him.

"Can I sit with you for a moment?" He asked.

She nodded.

"Thanks." He muttered. "Uh, I wanted to thank you for the Valentine."

"You're welcome." She said brightly. "Mum sent Dad a singing Valentine when she was my age, but Dominique thought that would be way to embarrassing for the both of us."

"Yeah, Al mentioned that. I am glad you didn't do that." Scorpius said. "Lily, you know that I only think of you as a friend, right?"

"I know, but it took Dad six years before he noticed Mum as more than a friend. I can wait." Lily assured him.

"I don't want you be hung up on me, and not date others. I don't know if I will ever think of you as more than a friend." Scorpius said.

"Do you like another girl?" Lily asked sounding a little sad.

"Merlin, no." Scorpius gasped.

"Well, as long as you promise to keep me in consideration, you don't have to worry about me. Mum dated loads of guys before Dad got a clue." Lily reassured him.

"Thanks, I will keep that in mind." Scorpius said as he got up to join Al and Rose, who were studying across the room.

"Thanks, mate." Al said as Scorpius sat next to him on the couch.

"No problem." Scorpius responded. He understood the protectiveness of being a big brother with the birth of his sister last a year ago. Rose as she looked up from proofreading Al's essay to smile gratefully at him as well and Scorpius returned that smile knowing he had done good.

Scorpius then thought of the red paper heart in his trunk.

No matter what, he would save that thoughtful gift forever.
