The Arrival

"WHAT!" Sano shouted.

"Hey Kenshin I thought I told you not to drag in anymore trash in my house." Hiko said referring to Sano as he entered the kitchen. "Hey!" Sano yelled again. "Don't you ever shut up? You yell too loud." Hiko stated as he took a seat across from Sano with a look of annoyance on his face.

"So word has it you're taking in a niece. Am I wrong?" Sano asked as he leaned against the wall arms crossed.

"I don't have to answer you." Hiko said through half lidded eyes. "C'mon old man." Sano whined.

"Watch you mouth I'm not that old." "You're older than me." Sano mumbled. "Um here. The soups ready." Kenshin quickly said as he placed a bowl of soup before Hiko as he gave Sano that look with his piercing lavender eyes.

"Hey Kenshin I've been meaning to ask you why do your eyes do that weird thing?" Sano asked.

"What weird thing?" Kenshin asked confused. "That thing it does when it switches?"Sano elaborated. "What are you talking about?" Kenshin asked, still confused.

"He's talking about why do your eyes turn amber and lavender all the time dumb ass." Hiko said rather annoyed. "Oh", Kenshin exclaimed.

Sano rolled his eyes. "I really don't know how to explain that Sano. I've always been able to do that since I was little and never knew why." Kenshin finally answered.

"It was because whoever owned him at the time beat him up so bad that one day his eye sight had went bad that it was nearly red, but instead went amber. So when he's calm his eyes are the natural lavender he was born with and when he's angry his eyes goes amber." Hiko lectured.

"But I don't remember that." Kenshin said scratching his head as he sat down with his bowl of soup.

"That's because you were one too young to remember and two because they hit you so hard you don't remember. When you had an attitude problem before the incident you were close to making your eyes change permanently on your own merits, but when that guy that killed your friends that night knock you out he made it possible for you to change your eye color, only not permanently like how you were heading." Hiko explained again.

"Man Master how do you know all that stuff if you arrived after the fact?" Sano questioned as he slurped down the last of his soup. "If you plan on ever eating here again don't do that." Hiko said with discuss.

"And I heard rumors from people who were escaping and heading my way." He answered. Kenshin and Sano only nodded.

It had been 1 week since Hiko got the notice for his niece's welfare. And now that his brother came to pass his niece was now on her way from Tokyo to Kyoto. The day of her arrival finally came and Hiko dismissed training for the day so hi wouldn't be distracted.

"Kenshin I'm off to fetch the girl. I want you to prepare a room for her and get a meal started." Hiko ordered as he walked out the door. Kenshin who had just finish polishing the floor sighed as his master just dropped another load of chores for him to do that he himself was too lazy to do.

Kenshin wiped the sweat from his brow as Sano walked through the training room doors with muddy shoes leaving a trail.

"Ah! Sano my clean floors!" Kenshin cried. Sano blinked at the lavender eyed red head then looked down at his feet.

"Hehe. Sorry Kenshin." Sano said sheepishly.

"I just finished cleaning and you had to go dirty up the floors!" Kenshin complained. "Gosh Kenshin I said I was sorry. No need to start action all bitchy." Sano said with a snort. "Sorry Sano it's just Master have been making me do all this work... And I still have more." Kenshin said with a sigh.

"Man you got wiped kid." Sano joked. His reply was an evil amber glare.

"Yo stop glaring at me Kenshin you know that shit is just plain old scary." Sano commented. "Then since you don't know how to shut that big whole on your face then I suggest you help me prepare or else." Kenshin said gravely as his eye's glew with a new meaning of evil at Sano.

Sano became fidgety and slowly started backing towards the door.

"A t-t-that's okay Kenshin I was j-j-just leaving." Sano said as he threw his hands up defensively. "Awe that's too bad to hear Sanosuke." Kenshin said as he began to advance on him.

"Kenshin no! I'm lazy! I not meant to be used for cleaning! I only eat, sleep, gamble and fight!" You could hear Sano yell from the outside the dojo.

"You look so much like your mother." "Really?" Hiko nodded to the young girl walking on his left side.

She had on a yellow traveling kimono and she held her hat in her wooden sandals clogged along the dirt road path back to Hiko's dojo.

Her hair was a long, dark sea blue that it looked purple from a distance. She also had deep sea blue sapphire eyes. There was a mild silence before their conversation picked back up.

"So..." Hiko breathed. "Huhn?" Kaoru asked as she looked over to him.

Hiko appeared to be a rugged looking man, Not at all like she had originally pictured him. He had height on him that was defiantly for sure, had long dark green hair and navy blue eyes. He had a white cape on and a green muscle shirt plus some black pants and boots. He wore his sword with him that day as protection and never left home without it when ever he went anywhere she manage to pull from him.

"What is your opinion on your staying with me at my dojo/ home?" Hiko asked. "I don't know really. I guess it will somewhat become home with time." Kaoru answered in an unsure voice.

Hiko eyed her out the corner of his eyes and figured she was nervous and maybe even a tad bit anxious.

"I'm sure it will be. And another thing you most know that there is someone else that will be staying with us and his name is Kenshin. I saved him when he was a young boy and raised him like my own since. Hopefully you'll get along just fine." Hiko said as they rounded the corner and started to climb the stairs to the dojo.

"You mean there's another guy in the house!" Kaoru exclaimed. Hiko nodded. "Basically I'm the only girl here?" Kaoru asked and again Hiko nodded.

"There's also another boy who comes and stays as he pleases, but he never usually stay longer than a week. So don't worry about him. But Kenshin is staying here until he is old enough and has enough money of his own to get his own home." Hiko informed.

"How old is he?" Kaoruasked."Um he's only 17. One year older than you." Hiko said as he thought about the answer.

"If it makes you any better I believe Kenshin should be done with our dinner and before or after, your choice, you can take a bath. And at mid- morning we do training in the dojo's main training hall. If you want there's a small single room off to the side of room where you can do your Kamiya Kasshin Style." Hiko offered.

"Oh you mean it! That would be wonderful! Thank you... I know I don't know you and you don't know me, but hopefully we'll soon turn into family." Kaoru said as she moved to hug her only uncle. "Okay that's enough of that I have rep to keep and maintain. But you're welcome." Hiko said as he shoved the girl off of him and turned to leave.

"But where do I go to take my bath? And what about my clothes and room?" Kaoru shouted off to him.

"The train men in Kyoto are different than the ones in Tokyo. They will deliver you packages here by morning tops and they won't go through or harm your things I promise. And if they do we'll both kick their asses. And as for the other questions I'll send Kenshin to help you. I hope you enjoy your stay." Hiko said as he walked off to his room. He needed to meditate before he eats.

Despite her somewhat shyness and hatred for having to leave her dojo for another Kaoru found a small smile grace her young, delicate features.

Already she gathered enough information about her uncle and she had only met him when he picked her up from the train. And suddenly her thoughts ran to Kenshin. What does he look like and what is he like? These were the type ofquestions just running all around her head.

"Oro! Are you Kaoru?" A comforting voice called from behind her.
