Okay, I was reading a story that has been around for a while, but is still in progress, I can't remember the name of it, although I think it had the word 'unknown' in the title. Anyway it had Rory catching Dean and Lorelai sleeping together on the couch, and then running out to Tristan and not speaking to Lorelai again or, for the next 6 years anyway. Well… it got me thinking and I came up with the idea to create this challenge for someone, or some people, to write a story/stories with these guidelines:
-- Takes place during Lorelai and Rory's fight in season 6 only, and don't shoot me for this, I just thought it would be something different that hasn't been, or at least I haven't seen, done before, they NEVER make up. As in, they go to their graves, old and without another word to each other. (Note: for anyone who has done this type of story line before, I'm not trying to steal ideas, I just haven't seen this done before and thought it would be interesting.)
-- It HAS to be a Rogan for Rory, and I don't care who you put Lorelai with as far as Luke and Max, and even Jason, go, but don't put her with Chris (Note: I'm a Balconbuddy fan just as much as the rest of that small group on this site, but for this story, that romance just doesn't work, and up next is why.)
-- Rory and Chris start talking and become on GREAT terms. Basically, it's the closeness she had with Lorelai, only with Chris and his personality (remember, he's always approved of Logan).
-- There is no attempt at reconciliation b/w Rory and Lorelai however, that doesn't mean that they don't think about one another from time to time, and maybe even shed a few tears in their respective husbands' arms.
-- Also, either make this mainly a Rogan, or strictly 50-50. Not one bit of majority for Lorelai's life. (What can I say, I'm a big Rogan fan.)
-- And one last thing, either make it progressive from season 6 through, or make it from no later than Rory and Logan married and trying/conceiving a baby, with some flashbacks thrown in. (Rogan married and having a family stories are so nice.) I also don't care about the rating. But please have Lane and Rory remain best friends.
Okay, that's it. Sorry if the guidelines for the story are a little intense, but this is my first challenge, and yes, I am playing the rookie card here so, yeah. And for those of you who are wondering why I don't just write this story myself, well, it's the same reason that I haven't written any other stories, I've tried before and, well, it turns out I'm much better at creating story ideas in my head than I am at putting them down on paper (or, computer, as it might be (lol!)). Seriously though, I've tried to write something a few times and it's been absolutely DREADFUL! Okay, well, that's the challenge. Please give it a whirl. Or, at least lend me some constructive criticism on writing challenges, please?
