Chapter 2
Say you'll share with me on love, one life time. Say the word, and I will follow you. Say you want me with you, here, beside you.
"I love you, Minerva," Severus breathed into her ear. He heard her sharp intake of breath, and she spun around in his arms to face him. He could have fallen in love with her all over again just in the light caught her hair, illuminated her skin, shined in her eyes. Hogwarts was glowing, an end of year ball. Severus was graduating, and he had some things to say to his transfiguration professor.
Somehow, he had managed to get her to dance with him. Bloody Dumbledore just twinkled his eyes had him, as if he knew exactly what was going on. Which he probably did. But Severus didn't let that worry him; he just spun Minerva around and around, carefully heading toward the edges and eventually out the door. He turned her away from him, and whispered too her. He held his breath waiting for her reply.
"I don't think you do," she sighed and left him, walked quickly down the corridor. Emerald satin swirled around her ankles.
Severus couldn't think, couldn't move. He was a snapped rubber band.
"Severus, what are you waiting for?"
His mind was frozen. It was over, there was no point.
"Severus..."
No, there's nothing now. She rejected him, he knew it would happen, but he went through. Why, why did he do that?
"Severus!" an irate Albus Dumbledore called.
"Yes, Albus?" was the monotone reply.
"Why aren't you going after her?"
"Because, I – wa – well, I – thought – uh - wait. What?"
"Go on, go after her,"
"But I – she -"
"The password is 'slings and arrows',"
"Albus, are you sure that's a good idea? Won't she ju-"
"Just go, Severus,"
And with that, Snape took a tentative step forward, then another and another.
"Go on, Severus,"
And he ran.
Anywhere you go, let me go to. That's all I ask of you.
A/N – The song is again from the Phantom of the Opera, All I Ask of You. And the verdict? What do you guys think? I don't like it, but I'd love to hear how it would improve.
