A/N: Written for Siriusly Smart.
"Get back here!" Regulus yells, running after his older brother. "Those are my Bertie Bots!"
Sirius laughs, calling back to his brother. "Were, Reg. They were yours. Until I decided they were…" Sirius trails off. Both he and Regulus stop running and look up at their mother who has just emerged from the dining room where she is entertaining guests.
"What did I tell you," their mother asks in a loud whisper, "about running and yelling in the house?"
"Sorry, Mum," they both say hanging their heads.
"Now go upstairs and play," she tells them. "Quietly."
Both brothers take seats on the stairs, listening to their mother explain away their behavior by calling them all sorts of names.
Sirius doesn't say anything. He simply takes a handful of the beans then offers the box to Regulus. Regulus doesn't say anything either but he accepts the box of candies.
He pops one into his mouth. "Ew," he says spitting it out. "Turnip."
Sirius laughs. "Rotten luck, mate. Try another."
Regulus does, and spits this one out as well. "Soap," he explains.
But Regulus doesn't care how gross the flavors are he is eating. He is sharing candy and laughing with his brother. And that first turnip flavored bean tasted a little bit like love.
