Lux got out her keys to unlock the door after a long day of work. She stepped in her house, which smelled of febreeze and dog. It reminded her of Baze's loft, minus the odor of smoke and liquor. A she threw her bag on the couchand kicked off her converse, someone came up behind her and covered her eyes. "Who's there!" she yelled.
"I don't know, Jones, duh!" She looked up and turned around to hug him. "Oh my gosh, you scared me!" Lux explained.
Her and Jones had been newlywed's for about a month now, and they were head over heels for each other. "I got off work early and I wanted to supride you!" Jones said. It had been ten years since they first met, and she believed he hadn't changed a bit. "Lets go out for dinner, just you and me." he explained as he began grabbing his wallet and BlackBerry.
"Just a sec, its Cate." Lux realized when her phone vibrated. The text read: Wrecked the car, I'm okay. Can you come to the hospital? Love you, Mom.
"Oh my god, I need to go to the hospital!" She slipped her shoes back on, dialed Baze ad ran out the door ignoring Jones. Instead of following her, he just knew everything would be okay, so he headed to the kitchen and opened the fridge, knowing his plan had fallen through. Luz caught herself speeding, so she slowed down, though her heart was racing. But by the time her speedometer showed a decreasing movement, she heard a siren and saw a red light.
"Crap" she said out lous as the car slowed to a halt. After she had gotten a speeding ticket, Lux arrived at the hospital. Cate seemed to be fine, with s few cuts and a broken wrist. it reminded her of when she crashed Cate's car with Tasha going to confront her former foster parents. She shuddered at the thought.
Her and Tash had lost touch, and Lux felt guilty. This occupied her mind as she drove home with Cate. Baze had been out of town finding a contractor to help restore his loft above the bar, where he still lives sometimes when nights at work were late. Lux and Jones had moved in next door to her parents, which had its ups and downs. As they pulled in, Baze and Jones were waiting for them on the porch. They remarked that they were thankful for them at the same time,
and both beganto laugh. Lux felt glad tht her and her parent's relationship had been getting better after she graduated. As she shut her door, she saw a car whiz past with a bumper sticker that read, "You don't know what you've got until its gone." "Hmm," Lux caught herself saying that out loud.
"What?" Cate remarked."Oh nothing." Lux explained. What she had (Cate and Baze) were once gone, but she smiled at the thought of knowing she had gone through everything and was now with them again.
