Hermione had to admit she loved her new room. The room was large, her four poster bed was no longer just a twin but now a queen with black sheets and red swirl designs with gold trim. Her walls where a soft cream color with gold trim, and built in shelves that allowed her more then enough room for all her books. There was a large desk and chair for her to do some work and all the furniture was a rich golden honey color. She couldn't help but enjoy the room. The common room she shared with her other head's was also on the large side, with a lowered circular sitting area, in dark colors and a large kitchenette filled with all sorts of snacks. There where two sets of stairs one that lead up to rooms the girls where on the left while the boys where on the right. To Hermione's relief she only shared a bathroom's with Luna, she had read that previous head's were forced to share a bathroom. She couldn't imagine sharing a bathroom with Draco or for that matter any other boy. The one thing she had that she did share with Draco was door that lead to her's and his laboratory. A door that McGonagall promised that only current students could go through and that at the end of their time at Hogwarts would disappear.
"This is everything that I have ordered Miss Granger, is there anything else?"
Mr. Malfoy stood in the middle of the laboratory with a parchment in hand. The man looked tired, but Hermione didn't mention it.
"Umm yes Mr. Malfoy, There is a book I have not found and was wondering if you could..." She had her list held out, Mr. Malfoy had snatched the list and was now looking through her request.
"Hmm, I believe I have a this book in my library," He looked up to his son. "Draco perhaps you and Miss Granger can go there, I have a few things I need to attended to today," Turning back to Hermione he slightly bowed. "Any thing in this house is at your disposal no need to ask, good day Miss Granger."
With that he turned on his heels and left her there standing with Draco.
"Would you like to visit the library now?"
He held his hand out to the door, the door that lead to the rest of the house. Hermione hesitated, she now had been working with Draco in the laboratory for over a month she still had nightmares that woke her up in the middle of the night, she feared visiting the rest of the manor would make it so she never slept again. Thankfully the alarm at her door went off.
"Hermione, you have visitors."
Luna's voice echoed through the room. Pointing her wand at the door Hermione spoke.
"Tell them I'll be right there Luna, Thank you."
"No problem Mione."
Looking back at Draco she couldn't help but notice she was holding her breath, she hoped he had not noticed that as well.
"Thank you, but do you mind getting the book, I would really appreciate it."
He gave her a curt nod.
"It well be here when you return."
They went their separate ways, Hermione took deep breaths as she walked across her room. She was shaking slightly she hoped none of her friends notice.
"FINALLY!"
Ron's voice echoed through the room, he stood in the head's kitchenette grabbing a snack.
"How long are we suppose to wait for you." He spoke with his mouth full a habit he still hadn't grown out of, Harry and Ginny sat at the table with their books open.
"Ronald don't speak with your mouth full, and believe it or not I am doing you a favor by helping you with your homework not the other way around."
His ear's turned slightly pink at this.
"Well I wouldn't need help if the bloody teachers would stop giving us so much work, its like they are trying to make up for last year and us not being here."
He had finished another bag of chips was going for another, by the few open bag's around him she could see that he had been eating since he got there.
"Ron, let's just get to work," She looked up to see Draco walking out of his room with a slight nod to Hermione letting her know the book was there for her, she smiled back slightly.
"I also have a book I would like to read after this."
Ron groaned.
"Mione," he whined. "I thought we where gonna spend some time together tonight."
He put his arm around her, Hermione didn't wish to disappoint him so she gave him a small smile.
Draco had been watching Hermione every since she agreed to accept his families help. He had to admit the witch was much further then he was as far as magical damage to the brain went. It bothered him when she would stop her work to have time with her boyfriend, but he supposed that even she needed to do something other then work. After all she was just doing this to help other's, she wasn't responsible for causing the pain his family was responsible for, she wouldn't understand. She was still slightly shaky, he noted. He knew the moment his father told her she could go where ever she wanted to go in the manor that she would tense up. However he didn't expect the shaking, he figured her previous time at the manor was still fresh in her mind. Truth be told, that day was still fresh in Draco's mind as well, he felt he could never make it up to her.
"Draco," Luna's far off dreamy voice caught his attention. The witch out of nowhere began saying his name, he didn't mind it really, she was another witch he would forever be paying back. He gave a small nod so she would know he was listening to her.
"Would you care to join us?."
At her words Ron decided he needed to speak, again with a mouth full of food.
"LUNA! How can you invite Malfoy to set with us?"
Draco almost laughed when he saw the look on Hermione's face as food ended up on her face and in her hair.
"No thank you Luna, I just wanted to grab some water"
Draco made it a point to ignore Ron, saying anything would only cause more problems. He pulled out a handkerchief from his pocket and handed it to Hermione as he passed by on his way to the kitchenette. Hermione took the handkerchief, as she was wiping her face Ron looked at her irritably.
"Don't take thing's from the ferret." He hissed as he swiped the handkerchief from her and throw it on the floor as if the small piece of fabric had burned him. Draco watched the brunette from the corner of his eye, he was getting very tired of the ginger but he would stay silent, he didn't want Hermione to abandon her work with him. It was to important. Draco retreated back to his room, not wanting the conflict. Hermione glared at the boy that called himself her boyfriend. She could still feel the bit's of food he sprayed in her hair, Merlin she needed a shower now. Sighing she continued to help them all with their work.
As class started the next day, it gave Hermione a bit of relief, class was the only place she didn't sit and think about her mother. The time spent absorbing the new information her teacher's would provide gave her peace of mind. Answering questions made her feel as if she finally had accomplished something, unlike the locating charm that still kept her up at night. She was still unable to locate her mother. It started to drive her crazy. There was no one to test her spells or charms on, although Mr. Malfoy did inform her he would be getting permission from the Longbottom's in order to try the new experimental procedure's she and Draco had been working on. She would be happy for Neville if her one of her procedure's worked for them. He would be informing her soon of the Longbottom's response. Hermione shook her head, she didn't want to think about that right now.
"Hermione, do you want to come and watch us practice after class?"
Ron was smiling his goofy grin. He wrapped his arm around Hermione.
"No, Ron, I want to start the Arithmancy essay Professor Victor assigned." Ron frowned.
"What? Professor Victor didn't assign us anything."
"Yes Ron, she assigned us fifteen and a half inches on the new theory's of number seven."
Ron groaned.
"Its the number seven, what else do we really need to know about it, its not like I want to work at Gringott's when I leave school."
Hermione rolled her eyes, they were just leaving their double potion's class with Professor Slughorn, the man's lecture's kept her mind occupied.
"Whatever Ron, I'll see you later."
"Can you help me later with the essay?"
He gave her that sweet goofy smile she loved.
"OK, but you have to start it, I'll met you in your common room after practice."
He gave her a quick peck on the cheek and was off. Hermione sadly smiled at his retreating back. She had already finished her essay, how could she lie to such a sweet guy it was making her feel horrible. She knew if she only told him what was going on he would understand, she could really use someone to cry to. He would be more then happy to be that someone at least she hoped he would be. When Hermione got to the common room she saw Luna and Zacharias setting in the common room.
"Hey guy's,"
They smiled at her as she made her way up to her room. After a quick change out of her uniform, she waked into her lab, hoping to have some peace and quiet as she worked. Hermione paid no attention to the time, how late it was did not matter.
Draco had enough the weasel just didn't know when to quit. He had just got done with practice with the other house's, Headmistress McGonagalls way of keeping up with the whole inter house unity crap. All the houses were expected to share the field once a month which was not a big deal to most of the house's. The captain's all decided at that time of the month they would all play against each other, Draco loved this idea as it was his. Almost all of the school had come for their 1st practice, in order to watch the four houses "friendly competition." Which wasn't a big deal except for Ron Weasley who thought sharing the field with anyone from Slytherin was not acceptable, and had tried to turn the other students against his house. Although to Draco's surprise Harry Potter was always the first to step up and put a stop to Ron's behavior. But that didn't stop Ron from getting Draco's 1st year seeker to fall off his broom, blaming the lad's lack of ability to fly other then the fact that he rammed into the boy. Draco had to make a quick dive for his young seeker before he hit the floor, luckily for the boy Madam Hooch sent a slowing charm up giving Draco plenty of time to catch the lad. Poor kid had wet himself, thinking he was going to die at that moment. Draco, whispered a quick cleaning spell so no one would notice, but the damage was done, as soon as they landed the boy ran away crying. Draco sighed, he had doubts picking a young seeker but the boy had talent, more talent then Harry Potter had when he 1st picked up a broom. The fight erupted after Draco landed, one of Draco's Beater's had thrown his club straight at the dolts head. While a few other's had their wand's out ready to fight the whole Gryffindor team. The Hufflepuff's and Ravenclaw's were also up in arms, they seemed to think Ron had gone to far with the young seeker and expressed their view with their words, something Draco wished his team had done at the time. Because of this incident the Slytherin house team would lose a whole hour of practice for their next scheduled alone practice time, for Ron's action's however the Gryffindor's lost a whole day. Draco burst through his common room. No one was around. He turned to the door looking at it, soon Potter the she weasel and that idiot would be in his common room talking loudly about how unfair it was that the Gryffiondor team would not be able to practice on Thursday. Draco pointed his wand to the common room entrance spoke a spell and left for his room.
Hermione had finally stopped working shortly after midnight. The morning sun was screaming at her through her window informing her it was time to get up. Looking at her alarm clock she made her way to the washroom she shared with Luna, and then got ready for another long day. She had no idea how long the day would be.
When Hermione entered the Great hall she had not expected to find an angry Ron waiting for her.
"HERMIOE!"
she sighed why was he yelling so early in the morning for, and with his mouth stuffed with eggs at that, well at least she was far enough that none of it landed on her, thinking carefully Hermione decided it would be better to set across from Ron rather the next to him.
"Why good morning to you to Ronald"
She spoke as she sat down and put some toast with a few pieces of fruit on her plate.
"What happened to your entrance password, why would you change that without telling me!?" Hermione looked at him a little surprised, she didn't remember changing the password. After a moment she took off her head girl badge, and share enough behind the badge was a new password to the head's common room.
"Seems one of the other's most have changed the password last night while I was asleep."
"Why would someone do that?"
Hermione shrugged at the ginger.
"Maybe they felt it was time for a change."
Satisfied with the information and happy when Hermione handed him the new password he went into detail about the previous day and how unfair it was that the Gryffindor's had lost their practice session while the Slytherins had only lost an hour.
"Ron you knocked a 1st year who was still training off his broom."
Harry had just sat down next to Ron, looking at his friend with disappointment.
"It's not my fault the kid didn't know how to fly."
Ron stuffed another spoon full of eggs into his mouth, making Hermione push aside the egg's she had just served herself, watching the egg's being tossed around in Ron's mouth did not make them appear appetizing. Harry sighed.
"Ron, the kid is a very good flier, personally I wish he was in Gryffindor the kid might be better then some professionals, Malfoy got real lucky with that one."
Ron's opened his mouth like a gaping fish.
"Sean is twice the flier then that little twerp Malfoy picked."
"No Ron," Harry now looked at his friends straight in the eyes. "I hate to say it but that kid can almost fly circles around me, Sean has a lot of practicing to do before he catches up to that kid," Harry looked up at the ceiling, he seemed lost in the clouds for a moment. "Sean does have a lot of potential though that's why I picked him he can become something great," Harry's eyes then became sharp had he stared back a Ron once again. "But he wont get anywhere if you keep getting us kicked off the field, remember this is about bringing the house's together now, we need to put the past where in belongs in the past."
Hermione was thankful when Ron kept his mouth shut and continued to eat but the week was not over.
For the next couple of day's one of Hermione's fellow heads kept changing the password to the head's dorm. This did not bother her but Ron was starting to get highly excitable. In the morning Hermione would give him the password and in the Evening the password would change again, Ron would then be unable to get in and get the help he so needed with his work. It was on the fifth day of the password changes where Luna had just allowed a very upset Ron to enter the common room where he exploded with his anger.
"WHICH ONE OF YOU KEEP CHANGING THE BLOODY PASSWORD!"
Hermione sighed, she had a feeling she knew who was doing it and didn't blame them for doing it.
"Ron Please clam down."
"NO, THEY NEED TO STOP THIS, PEOPLE COME HERE TO SEE YOU." Ron glared down at her.
"Don't you care that they are keeping us apart?"
Hermione rolled her eye's.
"Ron no one is keeping us apart," she put a reassuring hand on his. "and I know you are upset, but yelling is not helping anything."
Ron seemed to ignore Hermione words.
"Its you isn't it?" He hissed at Zacharias who had just came out of his room to see what all the yelling was about.
"Sorry?," The confused boy asked with both his hand's up.
"You're changing the password's every day aren't you?" Zacharias shook his head side to side his eye's a bit large, he seemed a bit afraid of Ron.
"NO, I swear I haven't changed the password"
"Ron, Please..." Hermione had just grabbed the ginger by the arm but he roughly pulled himself away.
"NO MIONE, LUNA!"
Luna turned to him that far off dreamy look in her eye's.
"Yes Ron" she said in almost a sing-song voice which seemed to irritate him more.
"Are you changing the bloody password everyday?"
"I thought of changing the password every day and the password changed everyday but the first day I didn't think it the first day made me think about changing the password everyday and then the password changed everyday so maybe I changed the password or I didn't change the password I never did say the spell."
Ron looked at her anger and confusion mixed all in one, Hermione couldn't help but smile, the girl was strange and Hermione loved her for that.
"SO IT WAS YOU!"
Hermione smacked Ron on the arm, she didn't like him yelling at her.
"Ron stop yelling at Luna."
"She is changing the password for no reason she is loony!"
Luna looked down, although she had been called loony Luna most of her life she didn't like it. Hermione saw the sad look in the girls eyes.
"Ronald! Apologize to her."
"Why should I?!"
"Because, I am the one that's been changing the password twice a day."
Draco spoke before Hermione could answer.
"I should have known," Ron growled.
