I'M BACK!
Mark looks in the bathroom mirror, sure, he has on just a hospital gown, but in that gown is a proud man about to ask the love of his life a very important question. The diamond ring about to be placed on this woman's finger is hidden inside Marks pocketed hospital gown. Slowly but surly he sits back down on the wheel chair, still too weak to walk. Either way today is the day he is asking that question.
The bathroom door swings open to a room not only filled with Marks closest friends but with nurses, random doctors Bokey, and people he didn't even know. "Seriously guys, I am already nervous enough! Don't all of you have patients?"
"Do you know how long everybody has been waiting for this?" A random voice calls out from the crowd.
"Years!" someone else answers.
"Yea so all of us are coming whether you like it or not." The same voice calls out.
Mark searches the room for Callie who shrugs her shoulders. He takes a deep calming breath and says "Alright, alright you all have to stay out in the hall, even you Callie." Callie frowns furiously as Mark continues. "I want to do this in the best way possible given the situation. So Jackson is going to roll me into the room. Blinds will be closed, Mer you can sit right in the doorway. Thats the game plan any objections?" Mark asks not caring if anyone did. Everyone stays quiet "Good lets go!" Jackson walks behind Mark and begins pushing him towards Lexie's room.
When Mark is finally there he can see just how beat up she really is wires are everywhere. Her entire body is all scratched up. Lexie's left arm is in a sling and her legs were casted up from the surgeries. He was told that being crushed, her organs had adapted around the object. they are slowly and painfully getting back to normal. She had 3 surgeries and was expected to have 2 more. She lost a lot of blood out there but has been getting tons of donations. She is mending but there is no say of when she's leaving.
Mark thanks the doctor and has Jackson push him to the side of Lexies bed. He holds her right hand gently. Jackson walks out to stand next to April. Jackson takes her hand to hold it. She relentlessly allows it knowing she loves the little connection they have there.
"Hey Lex." Mark says waking Lexie up. Her eyes flutter open. She blinks a few times before she realizes who is beside her.
"Oh my God Mark!" She half shrieks. She wants to hug him but the wires and her heavy cast hold her back. Mark simply kisses her on the hand knowing her failed attempt.
"I missed you" He says looking at her smile.
Lexie clears her throat "I missed you too."
Marks hands are clammy, he takes them away to wipe them off. "Lexie do you remember what we said out there in the woods?"
Lexie's face turns a light red and she answers "Yes."
"Well I meant every word. I want to marry you and have kids and grow old and be together forever." Mark stops speaking wanting to say more but grabs his chest. It's tight and he can't breath very well.
"Bailey!" Mark yells out the first name that comes to his head.
"Yes what is it?" The doctor asks concerned.
"My chest it hurts, I... I think I am having a heart attack!" He says. Lexies face goes white. Bailey gets all the things necessary to check him out. A stent had ruptured, they needed to do surgery and quick.
"Of course!" Mark laughs to himself. "Of course this would happen to me right now." Not one person in the OR had a frown on their face. It was true of course something like this would happen. It wasn't all bad any way. Stents could break for many reasons its just a good thing he was in the hospital at the time.
The Cardiologist had Mark in and out within 3 hours. Turns out that same cardiologist made a mistake of overlapping the stent in Mark's heart, which caused it to break.
When Mark awoke from surgery he was in the same room as Lexi. Something that Dr. Leo (the cardiologist) had done as an apology. Mark looked over to see bright white teeth smiling at him. "Yes" was all he heard. "Mark, Yes I will Marry you!"
"You're gonna to give me another heart attack." Mark laughs, as he closes his eyes again. "How did you know I was going to ask?"
"The ring fell out of your pocket when they took you away. I put two and two together. So yes Mark I will Marry you and have kids with you and live happily ever after with you." Lexi said with strength behind her words. They didn't sound groggy or painful she said it loud and proud!
