Second to last chapter. Wow, sorry it took so long. A particularly severe case of writers block I guess. This is the last chapter of this particular story line. The next one is a sort of post script chapter that will perhaps lead into another story, but that's for later, I have other plans right now.
Takuya, do you think you could be mine forever?
Takuya was suddenly awakened by the pulsing sound of his alarm clock.
"Ah, damn it" Takuya muttered to himself. "I was having a great dream..." Takuya quickly hit the snooze button and rolled over, attempting to catch a few more minutes of sleep. He was greeted by the sight of a still sleeping, and still very nude Zoe.
My God. Takuya thought. So it wasn't a dream. Unsure of how he should proceed, he just stared at her face for a few minutes. As the sun grew brighter, Zoe's eyes began to flutter and she woke up. Her green eyes met his for a second, causing her to crack a smile.
"Good morning handsome" she said groggily. She sat up, yawned, and stretched, giving Takuya a very interesting view.
"Last night Zoe... It was just" Takuya paused and took a breath " It was just perfect. Almost too perfect." Hearing that, Zoe's face momentarily sunk.
"I know where you're going with this, so just stop" She said, then gave him a warm smile and drew in closer to him. "Don't second guess this. We've wanted it for so long... Its not going to just fall apart." She then gave him a tight embrace. Takuya sighed once more, and with it, let out most of the insecurities and doubts that had been bottling up inside of him over the years. He finally felt confident again, a feeling he particularly relished.
Takuya gave Zoe a flirty look " So... wanna do for another round?"
"Oh my, Mr. Kanbara, aren't you positively dirty." Zoe then began to playfully walk her fingers over his bare chest until she reached his lips. " But I think that before we... go at it again we're gonna be needing some condoms. Don't you think?"
Takuya blushed, awkwardly scratched the back of his head, and let off a toothy grin "Oh.. yeah, duh."
"mmhmm" Zoe muttered and then let off a quick giggle. "Besides you fell asleep pretty much right after our little uh, dance last night. Wouldn't now be a great time to catch up on pillow talk" Zoe pulled the sheets back up over them.
" I think that's a great idea." Takuya said. Both of them knew this kind of thing was supposed to be spontaneous, but it still felt right. For a few moments, neither of them could think of anything to say, so they just stared at each other lost in thought. Finally, Takuya broke the silence.
"Hey Zoe, if you don't mind me asking, how come you never told me? You know, about how you felt?'
Zoe raised an eyebrow and asked coyly "Well, why didn't you tell me how you felt?"
"I – uh was just - "
"Kidding. It's okay. Actually, I did tell you once, you just didn't hear."
"What do you mean?" Takuya pressed.
"Well... remember that Fireworks festival, y'know, right after my 14th birthday?
"Yeah, how could I forget? All the gang got together on that grassy hill to watch. It was the most fun i've had since we left the Digital World. And, well, last night."
"Then you remember how, as the night wore on, they each seemed to find an excuse to leave? Well, Tommy really had to go, but for the rest of them it was an excuse. Anyway. That was the night I was going to confess my feelings for you. I couldn't get up the nerve, so procrastinated and so we just watched the fireworks in a sort of awkward silence. Eventually, I worked up the courage to tell you, but when I went to do it you had fallen asleep!" Takuya let out half a giggle. He recalled that he fell asleep. " You must have been dreaming, because you were talking in your sleep. You said 'Zoe, you're so beautiful'" Takuya blushed again. " So I whispered in your ear 'Takuya, do you think you could be mine forever?' and planted a little kiss on your sleeping lips. Even though I now knew that you liked me, I … I could never work up the courage to tell you again, and so I waited for you to tell me. Eventually, I started dating other guys, but my feelings for you have never changed. Oh Takuya I -" Takuya interrupted her mid-sentence by planting a passionate kiss right on her lips.
"Mmmm" was all she could get out. She leaned in toward him and they locked into an embrace and began kissing with more energy. Zoe started lightly running her toes up Takuya's leg as he worked his hands down to her lower back.
Oh well. Zoe thought. We can always get condoms for next time...
This little burst of passion was interrupted by Takuya's phone giving off an odd sounding scream. Reflexively they broke apart.
"Sorry about that, uh, just a second and we can get back to..." he said as he absentmindedly checked the text message.
"On my way. Be there in 5." he read out loud "What the hell?" Then he took the time to notice that he had 4 missed texts. From his mom. He quickly scanned them. "Takuya, I'm worried about you. I'm coming over to your place tomorrow morning." Takuya's jaw dropped as he slowly figured out what was about to occur.
"What, what's wrong?" Zoe asked. This caused Takuya to react.
"Oh shit! Get dressed, get dressed! My mom's coming!" He shouted as he leaped off the bed to grab his discarded pants.
"What!?" Zoe soon followed suit, grabbing all of her clothes and running toward the bathroom. Takuya stumbled around his bed area , trying to make it up, and stubbed his toe. He shouted out some very colorful language. He heard a similar bump and from what Zoe said, he surmised that she had done the same!"
"Questo fa male come una cagna!" .
Pushing through the pain, Takuya managed to get mostly dressed, just lacking his shoes when he heard the dreaded knock at the door. He stumbled to the door as quickly has he could.
"Coming!" She shouted. He quickly opened it "Mom! What a surprise!"
"Takuya! It's so good to see you!" She quickly embraced him. "I love you!"
"I love you too mom!" He said, returning the hug.
" Are you alright son?" She abruptly asked. " I know the divorce was hard on you, and then this whole college business falling through. Are you sure you should be living on your own right now honey?" Her voice was dripping with concern and compassion.
"No mom I'm fine." Moving back home at this point would be very unfortunate
"Are you sure? Living by yourself can be taxing in the best of the circumstances and -" she was cut off by the bathroom door flinging open. Zoe jumped out, apparently in her rush to get dressed and cleaned, she didn't hear Takuya's mom at the door.
"Takuya, I think I can-" She stopped short after looking toward Takuya.
"Oh, hello Zoe, I didn't know you were here!"
"Ha-ha-ha, yeah!" Zoe laughed nervously.
"Wait a second, it's 8 in the morning, why are you here?"
"Uh..." Zoe began.
"Oh, uh, you know, she's... she's" Takuya's
"I'm, uh, here because, Takuya's helping me out with some homework I have for a math class I have later today!"
"Huh" Mrs. Kanbara said incredulously. "Takuya was always terrible at math..."
"Oh don't be so cold mom, I've studied more since then" Takuya quickly blurted, while putting on the fakest smile imaginable.
" I see. Well I wasn't expecting my little Takky to have company. I had to go to the store today anyway, I'll come back tomorrow afternoon."
"Right, well, don't be a stranger mom!" Takuya said. "I love you!"
"Nice seeing you, Mrs. Kanbara!" Zoe followed.
"See you soon honey. And Takuya?"
"Yes mom?"
"Be safe."
"uh, I will mom." With that, Takuya's mother got into her car and drove off.
"Oh my god, that was a disaster!" Takuya said and then fell on his butt, suddenly very exhausted.
"Oh I don't know." Zoe offered. She went up to Takuya and planted a huge wet kiss on his lips. "Although it did kill the mood, I'll admit."
"Yeah, but maybe that's a good thing" Takuya said, attempting to sound positive, "The condoms?"
"Oh yeah. We gotta be more careful. Hey, I wasn't lying when I said that I had a math class today, it's in an hour! I gotta get ready, but when classes get out, I'll pick up some you-know-whats and come back over tonight."
"Ok" Takuya said. Zoe kissed Takuya once more, this time for a bit longer. She then playfully slapped him on his butt and started for the door. "See you tonight loverboy!"
"Seeya!" Takuya said. "And Zoe? I love you!"
Zoe gave him a very warm smile. " I love you too!" She then left. Takuya knew that waiting for her would be hard, but knew that it would be more than worth the wait.
