Here is chapter 3. I am really sorry for the absence of any chapters for a while but I have been really busy recently and have had loads of work to do. Thank you so much for reading this story, I really love writing for Janny. Nevertheless I fully intend to carry on with this story and hope you guys enjoy this update.

"At least we don't have to do that stupid, wait 5 minutes before I enter the building, game anymore"

"One, it was 10 minutes. Two, it was not stupid. And 3 who said we don't have to do it anymore?"

"I just assumed that now everyone knows we are together we can actually walk into the building at the same time"

"Never just assume anything Maconie!"

"But what harm will it do Jac?, everyone saw us leaving together last night didn't they"

In truth nobody had really taken much notice of the young couple the night before. As it was late the majority of the staff had already been in the bar after their shift and their judgement was somewhat compromised.

I know everyone saw us leaving together last night but I just don't want people to be gossiping. I hate people talking about me behind my back; I am just a paranoid person. I do hope Jonny doesn't think it's because I am ashamed of him. It's really not he has helped me so much and he is the best thing that has happened to me in such a long time; even if he is one of the most infuriating people I have ever met in my life. But I suppose I will have to let this happen at some point and why not let it be today? We had a fantastic dinner last night and I could not be happier. Besides with Jonny there I won't have to worry about what everyone says.

Why doesn't she trust me that nobody will say anything if we walk into work together? Even if they do I will be there next to her, supporting her. I know what it means to Jac to have her personal life and professional life kept very separate but we work in the same building, heck even on the same ward, we cannot avoid each other all day every day for the rest of our lives!

Noticing the scared and cautious look on Jac's face, Jonny was forced to re think his earlier statement.

"Look Jac if you really do not want to do this today then we can wait. The last thing I want to do is push you into doing something that frightens you. I just hope you realise that I will always be there for you no matter what"

Jac was almost considering agreeing to Jonny's earlier suggestion when she realised he had just given her a way out of this.

"Look Jonny, just give me some time ok. You have to understand I haven't been with anyone seriously since Joseph and it will take me a while to get used to showing other people how I feel about you"

With that Jac clambered out from the passenger side and began the walk towards the doors at the front of Wyvern. As Jonny sat gathering his thoughts he noticed the red head turn around and blow him a quick kiss.

Well I suppose anything is better than nothing and I could wait forever as long as it meant I could be with Jac.

For once in his life Jonny did exactly as he was told, after all he wasn't stupid and knew the consequences that would ensue if his disobeyed Ms Naylor again. After what seemed to be the longest 10 minutes of his life, the Scottish nurse got out of the car and headed towards Darwin. At this point he was late for his shift. The big question was, would Naylor make a big song and dance about it or just let it go? Nervously, Jonny exited the lift when it arrived on the fourth floor. Without making eye contact with anyone he headed straight in the direction of the locker room in order to get changed. Getting changed as quickly as he could, a sudden knock at the door made him jump.

"Tut tut Jonny Mac, late night was it?"

"Thank goodness it's you, and no not especially"

"Things gone sour between you and Naylor?"

"Not at all, despite the fact it has nothing to do with you Maureen"

"Do not call me that" she replied slapping him playfully on the arm before heading back out onto the bustling ward.

Darwin was particularly busy today. There was not a spare bed in sight and every nook and cranny was filled with someone needing treatment or the equipment used to do it. Jac was scheduled to be in theatre all day doing a number of routine elective ops. Something which she made abundantly clear she was not happy about.

"What's wrong Ms. Naylor?" Jonny questioned in a friendly yet still professional way.

"Bunch of boring cases all day and the theatre nurse has decided to come down with some bug so now I don't even have a full theatre team"

"I could always help out"

"No thanks Jonny" Jac replied. As she started to walk away she brushed past the Scottish nurse and whispered in his ear.

"Of course I would love to work with you but I need someone I can trust out here to run the ward for me today and make sure everything is ready for my theatre list to run like clockwork"

Satisfied by this, Jonny headed off in the other direction towards the nurses' station with a huge grin on his face. He tried desperately not to make it obvious, but Jac just had that effect on him. Realising how ridiculous he must look right now, he buried himself in patient files in the hope that nobody could see the face that he was currently pulling. However, it was hard for him to concentrate on anything with Jac wondering around at the other end of the corridor.

Now that is why I love her, of course there are many reasons, but the fact that she trusts me to do my job despite the illusion that she gives off to other people. And let's not forget she is completely gorgeous, I cannot take my eyes of her. Jac is brilliant at her job and I just wish that sometimes I could sit and watch her work because she is performing miracles and saving lives on a daily basis and I find that so incredibly hot.

Jonny spent most of the morning on the ward in this dazed state thinking about Jac and the path that their relationship was taking. Of course he still wished that she was ready to admit to people that they were together but ultimately he wanted Jac to feel comfortable and in a strange way keeping them a secret made it even more special.

At around midday Jac had finished her morning electives and had just got time to grab a quick bite to eat. Jonny, who had been following her schedule sneakily all morning, had decided that he was going to take his lunch break at the same time as Jac so that at least this monotonous day could be somewhat broken up by spending some time together.

Jonny grabbed his phone and sent Jac a quick message before heading downstairs in the lift.

Meet me in the park just outside the hospital as soon as you are done, I have got you some lunch. Hopefully we will get some peace and quiet for a while ;) J xx

By this time, Jac had removed her standard issue blue Holby hooded sweatshirt from her locker and was on her way out of the staff room when she felt her phone vibrate in her pocket. She read Jonny's message and smiles before she too headed off the ward and towards the park.

Ok my way now, I hope you know what I like then otherwise you are in trouble Maconie!

Jonny was smiling as he read her reply. Typical Naylor response he thought to himself. But of course he knew what she would like; he had gotten her favourite and was already sat in the park watching the world go by. It was a surprisingly mild day for the time of year but still not what you would call picnic weather. For this reason, Jonny had also collected 2 coffees on his way out of the hospital. The Scottish nurse waited for what must have been 5 minutes before he spotted that familiar red hair appear from around the corner.

Jac could not help but smile when she saw him sitting there with one coffee in each hand. He really did know her better than even she would like to admit. She walked over to the bench where Jonny was sitting and sat beside him. As she did this, Jonny swivelled round to face her before handing her the cup of steaming coffee. Jac thanked him before placing a quick kiss on his cheek.

"So how are your operations going?"

"Same old same old. I hate these electives!"

"I know you do, I know a lot about you"

Jac looked surprised and somewhat frightened by this statement.

"It's a good thing Jac, knowing things about each other shows that we care"

Conscious of the awkward silence that had now fallen between them, Jonny, keen to change the subject, delved his hand into the brown paper bag and pulled out 2 sandwiches.

"Chicken salad, no mayo for the young lady"

"How did you know?"

"Like I said, I know a lot about you. You don't eat cheese because it's too fattening but you like chicken. And according to you every sandwich should contain salad but never mayonnaise"

"Maybe you really do know me after all" Jac said smiling.

As they sat together eating their lunch and sipping their coffee, they just listened to the sound of nature: to the running water of the stream and the joyful melody the birds were singing. The park was full of people on this day. Mothers taking their children to the playground, people walking their dogs and then there was those energetic types who enjoy a good jog around the nature reserve. But it was the mothers and young children that caught Jacs eye.

"They are so cute don't you think. Maybe we should have one of our own"

Jonny almost chocked on his lunch when he heard this.

"This from the person who said she did not want to be a mother!"

"I was always scared in the past, but now I have you those feelings are beginning to fade away"

"Are you sure you are not just doing this for me?"

"I am doing it for both of us; I want us to have a family"

Still trying to process what was happening, Jonny leaned over a kissed her passionately. He had never though that it would be this easy to convince Jac and in his own mind he thought it may never happen.

"We better be getting back"

As they stood up from there place on the bench, Jonny took the remaining rubbish and placed it into the nearest litter bin. As he walked back towards Jac, he noticed how much her green eyes glistened in the sunshine. It really did bring out the vivid colour in them. To say he was surprised when she then took his hand was an understatement. They walked up the road hand in hand towards the hospital and as Wyvern wing came into view Jonny expected to feel Jac let go and make him wait outside so that none of the staff knew that they had been to lunch together. But Jac continued to walk towards the doors and even turned to Jonny and smiled as if to reassure him that she was ready to take this step. The more time she spent with Jonny, the more she was confident that she wanted to be with him and she didn't care who knew.

Just to let you know a lot of chapter 4 has been pre-written which means that hopefully there will not be as long to wait next time.

So until then Becky xx
