Chapter Two: Red Like Roses

A/N: Two chapters in one day? Insanity! Darker stuff here… you've been warned. I have no clue where this came from. It just… did.

The snow, cold.

The wind, bitter.

The forest, bleak.

The cliff, empty except for one thing.

The grave. Colder.

The invisible blood on the snow. Redder than blood.

"It's been a year… they tell me to let go. But how could I let go?"

The snow drifted across the ground, the wind biting into me skin, freezing me to the bone. I could care less. What was it in comparison to her? She's dead; there's no bringing her back.

The cliff and the forest below me look so tempting. Why not join her? What was there left to do? I ask myself this question every time I come to visit her, but then I remember. I still have my team. Yang, exploding with her radiance, Blake, quietly fierce, and Weiss, a small, almost invisible smile on her face so that she looked less tired and more free. Then there's Jaune, doubting but present, Nora, full of life, Pyrrha, welcoming spirit always there, Ren, the seeker of peace. They're there too. Could I leave them if I tried? No. But my thoughts always bring my back here, to this place of sadness and darkness.

Red like roses fills my dreams. Could they really be dreams, or are they nightmares?

I'm drawn back here with the same intensity. Are you calling to me? Do you miss me as much as I miss you?

Are you resting in eternal peace, or burning in everlasting pain? Or is this just the place you rest, six feet under, cold and unmoving?

Red like roses fills my dreams

And brings me to the place you rest.

Red like blood creates my nightmares

And carries me to take your place.

Red like the tears spilling down my face

I will come back for you.

Red like your heart, now grey and cold,

Wants me to join you there.
