Chapter 11 The hunter

"So the Onyx Conglomerate is to blame for that little fiasco. I see they still chase a myth." A dark figure reviewed Amuro's report. "But... There is truth in legends and time distorts the truth of legends. We too have our own aim to achiving immortality, but follow the path of science." The dark figure's phone rings. "Yes?"

"Sir." It was Bourbon. "Kogoro-tantei is taking Conan-kun to Osaka."

"Ah yes, thank you for the update." The dark figure thanked him.

"Do you wish for me to go to Osaka with them?" Bourbon asked. It would be a good idea to have Bourbon spy on the boy.

"No, I will send someone else." The boss ordered.

"Yes sir." The boss hangs up on Bourbon and calls Vermouth to his quarters. "Vermouth, come to my room." In a matter of minutes, Vermouth enters the room.

"You called sir?"

"Yes... Do you know about Pandora?" Vermouth looked at the boss.

"Wasn't that myth the basis of the old APTX poison?" Vermouth respond. The boss nods.

"Yes, it's ashame that we destroyed every bit of Sherry's work, save for the last file on my computer." The boss smirked. "Maybe Pandora is the key to complete our de-aging drug."

"Where is Pandora?" Vermouth asked.

"According to the report Bourbon sent in, it is owned by one Conan Edogawa." This shocked Vermouth and the boss noticed. "Do you know he my dear child?"

"The boy has a small amount of fame for chasing Kaitou Kid, who has gone dark for the reason you're thinking." Vermouth respond.

"Ah yes, I do recall reading an article about the little crime fighter." The boss began to think. "I have a task for you my dear.

"What do you wish for me to do sir?" Vermouth asked.

"I want you to acquire a blood sample from Conan Edogawa. His blood is the key to out final goal."

"I see, is he in Tokyo?" She asked.

"No, he's taking a trip to Osaka, go there and get a sample. Also get our hackers ready, I want them to hack the Onyx Conglomerate mainframe." The boss ordered.

"But the Onyx Conglomerate has the most secure computers, how will we hack them?" She inquired.

"Who do you think they bought their equipment from, In the servers there is a backdoor that the boys at Onyx have no idea about, if they get too powerful, let's just say that all of their dirty lawndray will be aired out all over the world." The boss chuckled. The chaos will guise our presence my child, everyone will be paying attention to Onyx."

"A perfect plan sir, what is the password to the onyx servers?" Vermouth asked.

"Interfectorem."

"Killer in latin?" Vermouth quirk her eyebrows.

"The best thing about a dead language is no one speak it anymore." The boss smiled.

Osaka (5:00PM)

"Here we are, Osaka." Kogoro stretched his arms. Kogoro, Ran, Conan have arrived at Osaka by using a bullet train. They were going to meet with Heiji and Kazuha at the station and get a ride to the Hattori household.

"I can't wait to see Kazuha-chan, I haven't seen her since Nozomi case." Ran smiled. "I wonder what they've been up to?" The girl wondered. She would soon get her answer when Kazuha and Heiji walked to the group.

"Ran-chan!" Kazuha waved and runs up to Ran and hugs the girl. "It's been awhile!" Heiji walked up to the group.

"S'up Ku- kiddo. How've you been?" Heiji tripped up on his name again.

"Is he trying to blow you're cover?" Pandora sighed. It was annoying how he did that. "It's not like you're hiding from an evil organization." Conan nods, and turns his attention to Heiji.

"Hi Heiji-niichan! It's been awhile!" Conan waved to Heiji. The group left the station and got into a cab to go to the Hattori household. The group would have lunch at the house and then check into their hotel. They arrived at the home of Heiji Hattori and entered the house. They were greeted by Heiji's mother, Shizuka.

"Welcome, dinner will be served in a few minutes." The group entered the living room to talk about what has been going on in their lives. Heizo Hattori enters the room and greets the Mouri's.

"Welcome to our home, I trust my boy got you here safely." Heizo said, ignoring his son's sharp glare. "Do you plan to stay in a hotel, or are you going to stay here?" Heizo asked. The man sat down on his recliner.

"Well, we're going to stay in a hotel, but if Conan wants, he can stay here. We'll just tell the receptionist that our thrid is at a friends house." Ran explained with a smile. Heiji smiled on the inside, this was his chance to catch up with Conan on what has been happening in Tokyo. He heard that Conan was chased by a psychopath that wanted to torture him. He also heard that he escaped by jumping into the river.

"Dats a great idea nee-chan! Da kid can bunk in my room!" Heiji smiled.

"Wait I-"

"In fact, I can't wait ta catch up with da kiddo!" Conan knew what that meant. After they ate dinner, Ran and Kazuha went to the Tomoya home and Kogoro made his way to the hotel. Heiji glared at Conan that made the boy nervous. "Da hell were ya thinkin!" Heiji scolded. "Jumpin in a river of ice cold water ta escape some crazy dude is too freakin risk!"

"Hattori, you forget. I can't die..." Conan sighed. "Nothing can't really kill me, remember." Conan took off his glasses and pulls out the contact revealing his red left eye. "I'm changing Hattori, I'm turning into something higher then a normal human... Also, I'm running out of time, I'm going to have to leave Ran."

"Why?" Heiji asked. What could drive him away from his girl.

"My regeneration is destroying the Apotoxin that is suppressing my cells, once it's all gone my cells will start to recover and I will return to normal." Hearing this made Heiji smile.

"Dis is great man! You'll be back ta normal and with nee-chan and- oh shit da organization and dat onyx group will be huntin ya down..." Heiji realized that Shinichi was screwed, two times over. "Ya need ta get out of Japan with nee-chan." Heiji suggested. It was the only option for Shinichi. He had to runaway, maybe to the islands that are around Japan, or over seas, and hiding in the mountains.

"I'm not running away, I won't turn my tail and run... Maybe I'll get lucky and they destroy each other." Conan chuckled humorlessly. "You want to know the worse part of all of this is?" Conan asked.

"I thought being hunted down and never dying was bad, there's something worse?"

"Yeah... I'm becoming a god..." This made Heiji's mouth drop.

"... What... Yer becoming... A god..." Heiji was shocked. Not only his best friend will out live him, but he will become a god. Conan sighed.

"It's worse then that... Kuroba called me on the way here,he told me that people are worshiping me, I don't want people to worship me as a god. I just want to be a normal person, not a god..." Conan puts the contact back in his eye. Heiji decided to change the subject.

"So dat contact, you never need ta clean dat thing?"

"Nope, it's odd. It's like it's never there." Conan looks at the clock, the two have been talking for an hour. "Man, I haven't solved a case since the Nozomi case..."

"So, did da undead guys stop huntin ya?" He asked.

"Yep, I killed the person behind it, before you ask he was already dead." Conan explained. "With my newest tool." He reaches in his bag and pulls out the dirk that he used against the lich lord. "The undead's bane..." He unscathed the dirk.

"Nice blade. So ya think nee-chan has any idea that you're immortal?"

"Hopeful she doesn't, because if she does find out-"

"Ya worry to much, now, ya up for Dragon ball Z?" This caused Conan you laugh.

"You watch that insane non-sensical show. Death has no consequence in that show."

"It's uncut, and I'm sure you're tired of watching kiddy shows." That was a good argument.

"Alright, what episode?" Conan wondered.

"How about... Da Frezia saga." Heiji grabbed a dvd and placed it inside the player connected to his TV. The two watched dragon ball z until Conan brought up case work.

"So has any interesting mysteries happen?" He asked. This caused Heiji to swear.

"A few murder cases. One case, dis guy killed his little brother because he killed his wife. There was another one were a woman was blackmailed by her ex-boyfriend. Da ex killed her for not giving him anymore money..." The two detective continued to talk about cases.

Kazuha's house (9:00PM)

"So has anything been happening here?" Ran asked.

"A few cases, some horrible guy killed his ex because she wouldn't pay him, he had some indecent pictures of her and he threatened to show then on the internet." Kazuha explained. "And person killed his brother to avenge his deceased wife." Ran sighed.

"I can't find peace no matter what..." Ran sighed sadly. Kazuha looked concerned.

"Ran-chan, what's wrong?" Kazuha asked. Ran shook her head.

"So much has been happening to me in my life right now..." Ran took a deep breath. "Kazuha... I need your trust and I need you to say none of to anyone, okay?"

"Of course you can trust me Ran-chan." Kazuha vowed.

"Okay... Here it is..." Ran began. "I found out that there is a jewel that has the power to make people immortal." This made Kazuha gasp. "There's much more then that, a stone is inside the jewel. It is a living being."

"Ya mean it's a living stone that can make someone immortal. But dats-"

"Impossible? It should be, but me, Sonoko and Masumi-chan have heard a prophecy about this stone called Pandora. Pandora has the power to choose a vessel, this vessel will become immortal." Ran explained. The karate black belt saddened. "You must think I'm crazy don't you..."

"I don't think you're crazy. I trust you Ran-chan." Kazuha said to her friend. "So, who is this vessel?" She asked.

"The child of the one truth..." Ran looked down, her bangs cover her eyes.

"Da child of da one truth?" Kazuha tilted her head.

"It's something that Shinichi always said, their is only one truth..." It slowly dawned on Kazuha on who is the vessel.

"But it can't be, can it!?" Kazuha shouted shock. "Kudo-kun doesn't believe in da supernatural!"

"You're right, but something changed, and I'm going to get to the bottom of this if it's the last thing I do!" Ran declared.

"Hopefully it isn't the last thing ya do." Kazuha followed up. "I'm gonna make sure dat you find Kudo and get him to explain himself." The girls nod. "But enough about boys, let's watch some TV, or do you need to sleep?" Ran yawned.

"I'm going to go to sleep, thank you for letting me stay for the night." The two girls got into their pajama's and turned in for the night.

Unknown place, (5:00AM)

"So, the vessel thinks he can run away and hide." A man said to himself after getting a report on Conan's location. "So he goes to Osaka, that won't do him any good." The man presses a button on his phone.

"You called sir?"

"I have a task for you, you must go to Osaka and hunt down the vessel. I will become immortal, even if I have to siphon every pint of his blood." The man said. "Do not fail me like Hyena and Wolf.

"Of course sir."

"Then go Snake, hunt him down and take what is rightfully ours!" The man order.

Osaka, downtown (12:35PM)

Conan, Heiji, Ran and Kazuha entered a fast food restaurant and buy lunch. "Thank you for buying lunch Hattori-kun!" Ran smiled. "Right Conan-kun?"

"Hm!" Conan nods because he has a mouthful of food, he takes a drink from his soda and swallowed his bits of his burger. "Thank you Heiji-neechan!" The group ate their lunch's and made small talk. Suddenly Conan felt something was wrong, very wrong. 'Pandora, what is this feeling!'

'I'm sensing evil, a dark hate coming for us...' Pandora explained. 'It's close very close.' Conan looked around, looking for the person that is emitting evil. 'I can't find it, but it's near.' Conan tried to harness Pandora's power to find the enemy, but his head began to hurt. 'You can't use my power unless we are using it together. But-'

'I know...' Conan sighed.

"Conan-kun, are you okay?" Ran asked.

"Yeah I'm fine." Conan smiled. The group makes there way to the mall because Ran and Kazuha wanted to pick up some new outfits. Conan wanted to go to the book store, but had to have Heiji tag along.

"Glad we didn't have ta stay in dat clothin store. I was getten some strange looks." Heiji sighed.

"More like glares." Conan chuckled.

"I'm just glad Kazuha let us go. I wasn't 'bout ta stick around if Kazuha and nee-chan needed some new underwear."

"They would most likely would have made us leave." Conan grabbed a sherlock holems book and started to read the book.

"Didn't you read all of the books already?" Heiji asked.

"Yeah, but I still like to read these." Conan said as he reads the book. After reading some books the two leave the book store. "Should we see if they're done shopping?"

"Yeah, they got ta be done by now." The two make there way to the clothing store called One Fit. The two see Ran and Kauzha.

"Did you find anything Ran-neechan?" Conan asked. The girl shrugged.

"I did get some new shorts and shirts." Ran had a small bag. "I didn't have alot of money to buy clothes."

"Well I got alot of new clothes. Heiji can ya carry these, thanks." She hands him the two big bags. "There's a smaller bag inside of the left bag. It has new underwear in it. If you look, yer gonna eat from a straw, ya got it ahou."

"Right, didn't need ta know dat." Heiji sighed. The four begin to make there way out of the mall. However, the iron shutter doors slide down and lock. "Da hell?" Heiji tried to lift the shutter door but failed.

"The shutter doors work with a magnetic lock. Once down the magnet actives and holds the door." Conan explained.

"Wait, are all the shutters closing!" Ran exclaimed. The four and several shoppers run for different exits, only to see the shutter doors closed. Many of the shoppers wonder what was going on. Suddenly, A group of six men dressed in mall cop uniforms came up behind them, aiming shotguns at them. Conan saw that there leader was none other then the man that tried to kill him.

'They must have disguised themselves as the security guards.' Which made him wonder where the real guards were at. The group of men had guns pointed at them all. The leader steps foreword and looks at Conan. The man grinned in a sinister way. It was no doubt the grin of a murderer and someone who thinks that they are above the law.

"We're here for that child." Snake points at Conan. "Now you brat. If you don't come quietly." Snake aims his pistol at him and his men take aim at the crowd. "I'll have my boy here kill everyone here." He smirked. Conan began to step forward but is stopped by Ran.

"Don't go Conan-kun!" Ran bent down to his level and pulled him close to her. "I won't let you go!"

"Ran-neechan..." Conan looked at her with sad eyes. "I have to, he's going to kill us if I don't..." Conan said softy.

"Once he takes ya, what's stoppin' them from killin' us, yer gonna pay fer dis!" Heiji yelled.

"Really...?" Snake quirked one of his eyebrows. "I'll have you know that I AM going to get away from this!" Snake points his gun and Snake and shoots at Heiji. The bullet hits him shoulder.

"GAHHH!" Heiji falls backwards and hits the ground. All of the people begin to panic.

"HEIJI!" Kazuha goes over to Heiji to make sure he was alright. Snake puts away his pistol and grabs a shotgun from one of his men.

"Shut the hell up!" He shoots to pump action shotgun in the air. It made everyone quiet down except for the children. "Now then, What's it going to be boy?" Conan pulls away from Ran's grasp.

"Fine, I'll go with you, but leave them alone!" Conan demanded. Snake glared at the boy.

"You don't make demands boy!" Snake kicks Conan over and hits him with the back end of the shotgun.

"CONAN-KUN!" Ran yelled loudly. Some of the costumers had to hold back Ran. Snake grabbed Conan and ran off with the tantei. "CONAN-KUN!" Ran screamed again. She was a black belt in karate, how could she allow this to happen. 'Conan-kun... Just hold on please...' Ran began to cry. She never felt so useless in her life. In Snakes getaway car, the assassin thought that he was victorious, but he didn't know that someone was tailing him. This someone was a blonde woman on a motorcycle.

A/N What will happen to Conan, who is following Snake, will Heiji recover from his gun wound? Answers and more in the next chapter. Also I'm working on a chapter for Awkward moments where Kaito pulls the ultimate prank.
