Okay, so, sorry for the long wait. Now that it is break I plan to start updating all of my stories. Wish me luck.
I woke up to the golden sun streaming through the glass veranda doors. Today we go to see Phet. After rolling out of bed and a fast shower, I wished up a cool lemonade as I leaned over the railing of the wrap around porch. It was hot, but that was India. I didn't know where the men were, but they were most likely getting ready as well. I guessed the cats would have gotten over yesterday's argument. Cats? Twila!
I ran back into the room. No Twila. I practically jumped down the stairs looked for her. Mr. Kadam will be out front getting the jeep ready. Maybe he knows where she is. I made it out the front door to stop dead in my tracks. Ren and Kishan looked up at me. Ren smiled, one of my favorites, and I momentary forgot what I was doing as my heart swelled. Both men had the same UV protecting shirt I did, just different colors. Kishan's was a muddy red that somehow made him look buffer, and Ren's was an ocean blue.
"Have you seen Twila?" I asked, ignoring the fine set abs in front of me.
"She came out to help us Miss Kelsey," Mr. Kadam chuckled, appearing from the other side of the spotless jeep. The most peculiar thing was Twila. She was sitting on Kadam's shoulder. He swiftly picked her up and offered her back to me. I held her close and she let out a mew in answer.
"The kitten can't come with us," Kishan stated. Before I could respond he added, "It would be too dangerous for her. She is too small and would get lost as we hiked to Phet's place. Who knows what could eat her too."
Ren nodded in agreement and Kadam promised to keep watch over Twila as we went to Phet's. We were all ready. I looked up at Ren and laughed.
"What is it Kells?"
"Can you even breathe in that shirt, Ren? You probably could have gone a size up."
"The shirt is tight so it doesn't inhibit movement." Ren replied, completely missing the joke. Kishan started laughing with me, and while I was distracted, he took that time to claim the driver's side.
"There are no pretty waitresses in the jungle, Ren. There's no reason for you to show off your muscles." I laughed as his eyes tightened slightly. He moved fast. He was right behind me by the time I reached the door handle.
"In case you didn't notice, your shirt is pretty tight too, Kelsey." My jaw dropped open. I quickly realized he wasn't wrong either, and I felt a bit self-conscious. A few more remarks after, I was in the car listening to Mr. Kadam explain to us, and Twila would interrupt him with a meow every sentence or two. And with that, we took off.
We got back a few days later. As soon as we hit the property I jumped out of the jeep and headed to the shower, away from any tigers. I could hear Kishan bang on my door a few times, but he gave up quickly. It wasn't until I heard scratching did I jump out of the shower. Twila was using the door post as a scratching wall! Cats! My anger subsided and I scooped up the gray fur ball. It wasn't her fault, she didn't forget me. She didn't make me profess my undying love then tell me I was liked enough! What was that even supposed to mean?
My silk pajamas glided over my wrists as a curled up with Twila. The soft fur tickled my cheek as more tears stared to form. I methodically stroked her, lost in thought.
"Just promise me Twila, if you turn into a 300 year old princess, you won't be as stubborn as the tigers." I muttered. I had a quick after thought. "Maybe eat less too."
Okay, so I wasn't going to do a second chapter, but few of you who messaged me, encouraged a second chapter. I know it isn't as good, but I will continue chapters if you so wish. Shout out to The Band of Thieves for your comment. Yours made me look back and think, maybe it isn't done yet. Thank you, and thank you to all of my followers. ;)
