(Yeeeee I finally update! XD so I reviewed over this story and uhmm about Peppers age, she is 19 ignore the last chapter where I said she was 17 she is 19 anyways LETS GET ON WITH IT XD)
As soon as the boys made it back Tony armored down along with Rhodey.
"Alright man I gotta head home, are you gonna be okay?" He asked.
"Yeah, just get home before Roberta gives you another speech about 'being at that age' again" Tony chuckled as he ejected the chip from his armor.
"Oh whatever! She gives you that same speech too!" Rhodey countered.
"I wear special earbuds" Tony winked.
Rhodey rolled his eyes and headed for the door.
"See you at home..." With that he left the armory.
Tony carefully set the chip down on his work station, making sure he wouldn't lose it. He then began to think of a way he could at least get ahold of her while she was in this virtual state. He snapped his fingers after coming up with an idea then walked over to his master computer.
"Alright...let's make...a project" he spoke as he typed in the title for the file he was creating.
"Begin full scan of the chip" he commanded right after he went to go place the chip under the scanner.
"Scanning..." The computer voiced.
"Scan complete" it concluded.
"Begin synthesizing access terminal" he ordered.
The computer began its process.
"And now let the technology do it's magic" he sighed in exhaustion.
"Don't worry Pep I'll get you out of this..." He clenched his fists then released.
Tony then went to his work station and pulled out architectural designing paper. He then began designing the structure of the terminal.
...
He spent the whole night making the pre-production of the terminal and now as dawn broke he had finished the planning part. He had all the pieces and everything set up he just had to construct it.
"Alright let's do this" he picked up his power drill and began his work.
He spent the next few hours drilling, cutting and screwing metal pieces together. He inserted wires, bolts and smart chips, all in hopes to access Pepper.
Rhodey had stopped by in as he was just finishing.
"I figured you'd be working all night so I brought some food" he set down a doggie bag next to him.
There was no response from Tony as he seemed to not noticed Rhodeys presence in the armory. Rhodey shrugged and rolled his eyes.
"Are you at least almost done?" He asked.
Still no response, Tony was in his own bubble. Rhodey then decided to let him be and left the armory. About half an hour after his departure Tony had finished his work.
He took a deep breath. "Please work..." He held the chip in his hand as he slowly inserted it into the terminal he spent all night making.
It took a few moments, but the chip was accepted and Pepper's figure came up. The terminal was small, it only stood as high as Tony's ankles. He designed it for Pepper to be human size which worked out as she met his eye level.
"Tony! You did it!" She exclaimed in joy.
"It took all night, but I'm so glad it worked!" He spoke it happiness and relief.
Pepper gave him a warm smile, but it soon faded into a saddened look.
"I wish I could feel you so much..." She spoke as she placed her hand on his shoulder.
She felt nothing. In this state she couldn't feel anything on the outside of her virtual world.
"It's alright Pep, I'm gonna fix this and then we will be able to do everything we wanted I promise that" he said with a determined expression.
"I know you can" her smile returned.
"So anything new you received?" He asked.
She shook her head. He sighed.
"Well that's alright I'll figure out something" he smiled.
"Warning: criminal activity detected" The computer warned with its screen beaming red with alerts.
"It's Whiplash" Pepper determined.
"How do you know?" Tony asked, curiously.
"Found out same way your computer did except I looked into the location and pulled up a visual which I believe your computer can't do" she smiled proudly.
"Ah put a sock in it that's in my next upgrade" he winked.
"Yeah sure!" She laughed.
"Alright I'm off" he turned and went to armor up.
"Wait! Let me go with you!" She extended her arm wanting to join him.
"Just sit tight here Pep it'll be quick I promise" he reassured as the armor metal pieces became one with his body.
Pepper frowned and crossed her arms.
"Aw don't give that pouty face" he mimicked a little child's voice. He imitated her face and posture.
"Stop that!" She stomped her foot.
"You're so adorable I can't wait to hug you!" With that he blasted off.
"Grrrr!" She growled.
Suddenly she came up with an idea.
"I may not be able to go along in his suit...,but maybe I can control one!" She thought.
Pepper then focused on hacking one of the suits to take control. The hack was completed in just a few minutes.
"Hmm that wasn't easy, but it wasn't that hard...looks like someone needs a security upgrade!" She laughed.
"Alright let's do this!" She spoke in determination.
She was able to control one of the suits motion smoothly as it flew up and out to the sky over to the crime scene.
...
Tony caught Whiplash stealing some tech equipment from a local store.
"Well, well what do we have here?" Tony put his hands on his hips as he hovered over the thief.
"Forget it Iron man I have this round!" Whiplash declared.
Suddenly a repulsor beam shot out straight at Whiplash, sending him towards a building. Tony was surprised at this sudden attack as it wasn't him, but was it Rhodey? He was the only other person able to use a suit after all. He turned to where the shot came from and saw his stealth hovering over. It was invisible, but the suits were linked to allow the person to be seen.
"Rhodey?" He called out.
"Nope! Ms. Pepper Potts here!" The hands moved to its waist as it made a tall posture looking proud.
"Pepper!? How did you get in the suit?! You got out of the chip?!" He asked frantic.
"No dummy I just hacked the suit so I can come help you!" She explained.
"You hacked? That's impossible..."
"Well apparently it is since I'm controlling it" she giggled.
"Damn now I gotta upgrade once again!" He grumbled.
Their little conversation gave Whiplash enough time to recover from his impact and come back strong. He then beat down the distracted man onto the ground.
"Iron man!" Pepper called out.
She started shooting at Whiplash as he dodged her moves. Tony came back up doing the same.
"I wouldn't shoot if I were you!" Whiplash called out.
The two suddenly stopped, a little intimidated as to what he was going to do that he made sound so serious.
"Mr. Fix has decided to relocate his office and so he thought of throwing a goodbye party...with a nice finally of...fireworks..." Whiplash had an evil tone to that sentence.
"I don't like the sound of that...Pe- I mean rescue go get War machine..." Tony commanded.
"No way I'm staying right here!" Her tone declared it as final.
"It's alright and besides 'rescue' you're coming with us" Whiplash chuckled evilly.
"What do you mean?" She asked, curiously.
"Detonation in 60 seconds" A computer like voice announced.
"What detonation..." Tony growled deathly.
"See you in hell Stark..." Whiplash then disappeared in the blink of an eye.
Tony was shocked he had figured out his identity. The suit Pepper was controlling suddenly shut down and made an impact on the ground. Tony landed quickly right next to it.
"Pepper! Pepper! Can you hear me?!" He called out.
"Dammit! Computer scan the area for explosives! And fast!" He ordered.
"Scanning...20 active bombs detected" the computer finished.
Tony was in a panic, he was too frantic to think.
"30 seconds until detonation" the same voice announced.
He shut his eyes right then reopened them once he got an idea.
"Computer locate the detonator! FAST!" He commanded.
Once the computer located it, Tony blasted off at lights speed to the location.
"10 seconds remaining" the voice called out.
Tony was led to a warehouse full of advanced equipment. His suit pinpointed the exact location of the master detonator and cracked it open. He knew he had to work fast as he didn't know the range of how far the bombs would explode to. For all he thought it might be the entire state of New York or at least Manhattan. There were 20 different red wires mixed up with 20 different blue ones along with programmed chips and the detonation time. He had to find the piece that sent the signal for all the bombs to explode. Adrenaline made his very little time slow. With frantic eyes Tony scanned the whole box until he had found the piece he was looking for and ripped it out. The clock stopped at exactly 00.01. He breathed a great sigh of relief he had saved New York from what might've been a terrible tragedy.
"Now loading pre recorded message" the voice of a computer spoke.
A tv screen he had not noticed that was standing on a table turned on.
"So I see you managed to set off the bombs..."
It was Mr. Fix on the screen. Tony slowly started taking a few steps towards the screen.
"I knew you'd be panicking Tony...and I knew you would miss something..." He chuckled devilishly.
"What a tragedy...tsk" He shook his head in disappointment.
Suddenly the master detonator came back online and began the countdown from where it left off...at one second. The Tv screen went blank as time slowed again. Tony managed to turn around and run only three steps until all the bombs placed including the master detonator exploded. Tony was hit severely and sent flying against some crates in a corner.
New York was obliterated.
(Do you guys feel a cliff hanging around? Cause I sure don't C: review! I wonder what story to update next though...still deciding)
