Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! Enjoy my present of a new chapter!
"Welcome, students, to another year at Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I'm delighted to see the new and familiar faces in the crowd. I just want to wish everyone a good year." Headmaster Edwards smiled at the entire Hall.
"Now, before we move on to fill ourselves with truly wonderful food, I have a few things to discuss with you. As usual, the Forbidden Forest is, well, forbidden. And of course, magic is not allowed to be practiced in corridors. I hope everyone will enjoy yet another year at Hogwarts. Let the feast begin!" Headmaster Edwards ended the speech quickly, looking eager to begin eating.
Nobody could really blame him.
I immediately dove in, reaching for my favorite food. My mum liked to joke that I was a female version of Dad while eating. She called him a 'vacuum'. He never understood what a vacuum was, being hopeless at things that require muggle knowledge.
I piled potatoes, steak, anything I could find onto my plate. For a while, I was quiet, intent on enjoying the heaven upon my plate.
"Um, Rose? Can you please stop making eyes at the potatoes? I know they're good, but your mother would prefer you to fall in love with something a little less edible," My fellow Ravenclaw, Irina Finnigan teased.
Irina was my closest friend outside my family and the 'extended family'. She was Seamus Finnigan and Parvati Patil's daughter. She had a twin sister who had landed herself in Slytherin.
But while Irina looked like Parvati, with large almond eyes and straight, long black hair, she had her father's passion and skin, while not chocolate, was a butterscotch.
So in short, she was fucking beautiful. I was pretty much the 'Plain Jane' out of everyone I knew.
But I had accepted that long ago.
" Oh right. Wait until we get to dessert, and you practically begin snogging the treacle tart." She grinned, smacking me lightly on the shoulder.
"Shut up, you git." I pretend to applaud her, failing to restrain my giggles.
"Nice one, Finnigan. Very original."
We resume eating in companionable silence. She turn to me other right as the desserts vanish.
"So, I heard Head Girl gets her own dorm?" She asked, eyes shining. I nod reluctantly, knowing it would be with the Head Boy.
My good mood is beginning to evaporate.
"Well, you just stuck me with Landry and Hale," she groaned referring to our other two dormmates
Gemma Landry was a girl who concentrated on studies and studies only. She shunned everyone who ever approached her, claiming she didn't have the time or patience to deal with people.
In short, she was a charming girl.
On the other hand, Genifer Hale was a girl who spent all of her time socialising. She was intelligent, yet wasted her potential on hair and makeup charms. She took so long to put on her beauty every day that she barely had time to eat breakfast.
In short, she was a charming bitch.
I pat Irina's hand consolingly.
"I'm sorry. If you want, you can take my bed. It's closer to the bathroom, isn't it? That way, you can beat Hell to the bathroom." She brightened up a bit.
"No, it wouldn't feel right. I mean, you won't be there, but it's still yours, you know?"
Soon, everyone began to rise and head for the doors. I waved to Irina and set off in search of the dorms.
My letter said that it would be behind the painting of four old, inebriated monks.
I find Malfoy leaning against the portrait, looking thoroughly annoyed. He brightened up when he heard footsteps, but became glum and irritated when he saw who the feet had belonged to.
"Oh, it's you. We need to choose a password." He jerks his head at the portrait. The four monks, who are gathered around a table, pause to leer at me.
"Oh hello dearie, fancy a pint?" One man asked, slowly looking at me up and down. I swallow my disgust.
The letter forgot to mention that these men were downright lecherous.
"Er, I'm alright." I try to ignore the fact that a man older than my grandfather is trying to make a pass at me. Malfoy snickers.
"Alright, Weasley. I propose 'S. Malfoy gives you the best sex." I stare at him, shocked.
"Did- did you really think that I would agree to that?" I ask, crossing my arms. He shrugged, then smirked.
"Why wouldn't you? It's true." I sniff disdainfully, trying to stop myself from cursing him into oblivion.
"You wish, you prat. How about Quidditch?" I ask, turning to the monks. One of them winks at me.
"Ohhh, this one's feisty. I like her," he grins lecherously again, "the password's Quidditch, my dear lady." The portrait swung open, revealing the Common Room.
I nearly fall over in shock. It was… perfect. There was no other way to describe it.
It was decorated mainly in blue and silver. The chairs and couches were either silver, cream, or white, while the walls and soft carpet were a royal blue.
One wall had floor-to-ceiling french windows, revealing a view of Hogwarts that was unlike any other, I could see a small hut and the Forbidden Forest in the distance, while the Black Lake sparkled invitingly some distance away.
Along another wall, there was a large fireplace with a fire already burning inside. There was one long couch facing it. The cream couch had a heather-gray blanket draped over it. There were two cream recliners on either side of the fire and a small table on the left of each one.
Another wall was lined with bookshelves. They were filled to the brim with books. I immediately grabbed a few off the shelves, intending to take them.
The center had two tables with a cluster of comfortable-looking chairs around them. They were perfect for doing homework.
"This-this is amazing!" I exclaim, momentarily forgetting I wasn't alone. Malfoy clears his throat. He's still by the entrance, and he's watching me.
"Your definition of amazing and my definition of amazing is rather different Weasley. However," he gazes around the room, "this is adequate." I roll my eyes. Typical superior Slytherin, always thinking he deserved the best.
The last wall had two doors. One was labelled 'S.M', while the other was engraved with 'R.W.'. I take a deep breath, preparing myself for what lay behind the door.
I widened my eyes and let out a hushed, "Oh, Merlin." If possible, my room was even better than the common room. The walls were covered in bright cerulean wallpaper that showed silver birds flying around. As anyone can tell, blue and silver are my favorite colors. The bed was queen sized and came with a sheet set and comforter that complemented the wallpaper.
There was a smaller bookshelf that was neatly stacked with my personal books, and there was a small nook with an overstuffed recliner and a desk.
There was a set of french doors that led out to a small balcony that overlooked the Great Lake and the sunset (not that there was one anymore). The ceiling was enchanted, like it was in the common room and Great Hall, to show stars. I could easily identify the constellations.
Hey, I didn't get an 'O' in astronomy by sleeping through it.
There was a small door that, when opened, only showed a big passageway. I had a sneaking suspicion it would lead to the kitchens.
There were two other doors, and I impulsively opened the door on the right. It was revealed to be a large bathroom. It was twice the size of my bathroom at home, which was no small feat.
The bathroom held a sink, toilet, vanity, shower, and a small tub with an overhead cabinet. The sink's cabinets were filled my favorite toiletries, like toothpaste, soaps, shampoos, conditioners, hair products, etc. The tub's cabinets were stocked with various bubble bath products, such as bath oils, bath bombs, and bath salts.
The vanity held my minimal makeup, brush, lotions, perfumes, etc. Needless to say, it was relatively empty. The only thing it really had was the few things Lily had coerced me into buying, my much abused hair brush, 4 or 5 of my favorite lotions, 7 or 8 of my favorite perfumes, and a muggle flatiron that I rarely used.
The shower was a decent size, with an overhead tube and a handheld. The fluffy towels hanging neatly from a rod completed the picture of perfection that was my bathroom.
I cautiously push open the door to my closet. All of my clothes were hung up and ironed, ready for wear. My wizard robes and school uniform were separated from my muggle attire.
My shoes are stowed upon a rack and my socks were organized into a drawer, along with my undergarments. I quickly rifle through my pajamas and choose my comfortable tank and and cotton drawstring shorts.
I began my night routine and finally sink into the bed. I nearly moan out loud in pleasure. The bed was so comfortable I wondered how I was going to get out of bed in the morning.
I turn over and smile. This was going to be a great year.
Of course, I didn't factor the prick living next door.
Alright, that's it. Please Review and tell me if you liked it! Have a safe and happy holiday! :)
