Chapter 15: Old Friends
Phoebe's POV
The night after our meeting about Luke, I dreamed about Ganymede. Naturally, I was crying when I woke up.
"What's wrong with you?" Fiona asked.
"What are you doing here? Can't you stay with Apollo?" I countered.
"Apollo arranged for me to get my stuff with Artemis." Fiona looked annoyed.
"ORION?!" Artemis' voice screamed from outside.
We all ran outside and saw Artemis with a half shocked, half happy expression. Her old friend Orion was standing a few feet away. He was one of the only two male friends she ever had.
"How are you alive? And what are you doing here?" Artemis questioned.
"Zeus figured you'd trust me to help you guard the Camp, so he made arrangements with Death and Hades." Orion smiled broadly.
Artemis' smile flickered. Why couldn't they do that for Perseus?
"Well, he was right about me trusting you." Artemis smiled warily.
"Where can I go, old buddy?" Orion patted Chiron's back.
"Perhaps you can guard near the forested side of the border. You were always one of my favorite pupils." Chiron grinned.
Percy looked wounded by that last statement and Annabeth distracted him by saying how brave he was during the Bronze Dragon quest. Silena giggled and Charlie smirked.
"If they only knew about the quest we got from Hades, eh Percy?" Thalia nudged him.
"Exactly! We turned a freaking Titan into a nice janitor..." Percy mumbled.
Thalia giggled and Annabeth looked confused.
"See you later Artemis!" Orion called as he headed to the border.
Artemis smiled in return.
"Phoebe! Phoebe!" A familiar voice called.
Oh Gods no. Please say it's not really him. Please say I just imagined it.
"Phoebe! There you are. It's so good to see you, how's your life been?" Ganymede bounded up to me.
I turned pale white and Artemis' eyes got wide.
"Burr, this is a cold welcome." Ganymede joked in good humor.
"Who's that?" Connor asked from behind me.
"Ganymede, the last boyfriend I had." I couldn't lie.
Connor looked confused. "Is he why you became a Huntress?"
"A Huntress? When did you become a Huntress?" Ganymede looked worried. "Who broke your heart?"
"I became a Huntress after you admitted your gay lust toward Zeus and abandoned me for him. You broke my heart and gave me a reason to join the Hunt." I started to cry.
"What?! Why didn't you tell me?" Ganymede asked.
"How? By looking for you like a lost puppy on Olympus? And Zeus knew I was a Huntress, why didn't he tell you?" I was sad and angry.
"Oh come on, just because I turned gay..." Ganymede started.
I didn't let him finish as I ran toward the lake. I looked back and saw Ganymede arguing with Connor and then Connor punched him. Artemis looked at Ganymede in disgust and even Percy looked at him like he was nuts.
"Are you okay?" Connor asked.
"Why did you punch Ganymede?" I questioned.
"Because he said I wasn't good enough for you and accused me of being gay. The nerve of some people." Connor explained.
"I'll be fine, but I probably took it worse than I would have." I said.
"Would have?" Connor seemed confused.
"When Artemis gave me permission to date, all my suppressed feelings of love and pain came rushing back. So I probably would've taken it better if he did this before I liked you." I giggled.
"I'm sorry, how about I get Percy to drown him?" Connor grinned.
"I think he's already on it." I pointed to Percy.
Percy and Artemis pushed Ganymede into the lake.
"You can clean the bloody nose Connor gave you!" Artemis called.
"I respect that statement." Percy used his trademark grin.
Annabeth and Thalia giggled.
"Maybe I can drown him?" Connor offered.
"I suggest you don't. But he is immortal, so maybe it doesn't matter." I grinned.
(A/N: Just for fun, try to guess my gender in your reviews. You don't have to, I'm just curious about your answers. I'll give the correct answer in the next chapter.)
