Wings
Chapter Four
What costs nothing
but is worth everything,
weighs nothing, but can last a lifetime,
that one person can't own,
but two or more can share?
Her dress blue muti layered ruffled dress swished side to side as she walked in the city's dark alleys. It was early in the morning and the perfect time to strike her next prey. Her cold blue eyes hid underneath her black cloak as she searched for the man she was hunting. Unknown to her that she was being hunted herself.
Her ice blue eyes widened when a very familiar voice hit her eardrums.
"Kagome?"
She quick twirled around in anger and malice to that very voice.
"Inuyasha." She managed to hiss out. "What a surprise it is seeing you here."
If Inuyasha wouldn't be having his concealment charm on right now his ears would have been flatten to the base of his skull in sadness because of his friend and once love's hostility towards him.
"Kagome, please it's time to come home." He pled.
Her eyes narrowed in anger.
"To who house Inuyasha? Yours is a friendly visit or Sesshoumaru's as a horrible reminder?" She hissed out her voice dripping with sarcasm and venom.
Inuyasha's eyes lowered in shame.
"Yeah I know you idiotic puppy dog." She said coldly as a scowl graced her face.
"I know you working with him to find me. But you know something Inuyasha." She said glaring at him from behind her shoulder.
"I won't go back to easily kicking and screaming like the little brat I was those thousands of years ago. I won't stand back and watch you take a hold of my life again for I'm a big girl now." She growled.
"I do not care of your choices but they better not do with me or my mission."
Inuyasha looked at her sadly as he got the golden chain out Sesshoumaru gave him if she didn't come quietly.
"And what is your mission?" He asked as he came closer to her still form. He was half tempted to let her go but that would mean he would have Sesshoumaru on his tail once more looking for answers.
She snorted.
"Why else would I come out of hiding, Inuyasha?" She growled as she looked back at him.
"And don't think I don't know there is that chain your hiding behind your back Inuyasha. I know Sesshoumaru gave you that accursed gold to stop me. I won't work again." She said as she let her eyes change causing Inuyasha to gasp in surprise.
He then let out a short breath to calm himself. His eyes closed in acceptance.
"Keh! So what! Your a huntress now! Who cares!"
She smirked darkly causing Inuyasha to wish he held his tongue. She quickly pulled him deeper into the alleys. When she stopped Inuyasha looked up with fear in his golden eyes.
"Because I'm not a huntress anymore, because of you! But I'm still a angel you fool!" She hissed as her wings began to ache at that word.
Inuyasha just stood their mouth agape.
She just narrowed her eyes.
"I have to go Inuyasha they are beginning to set up the stages and I wouldn't want to miss that now would I?" She asked turning heel and walking away.
Inuyasha quickly found his voice and shouted, "O-Oi! Why didn't you kill me yet?!"
Kagome stopped in midstep. Then turned round and chucked at him.
"Even know you are working for the man that wants to steal way my mission and life goal, I still do not see a reason to hate you Inuyasha. After all weren't we once friends?"
With that question hanging in the air she turned around once more and left.
Inuyasha looked at the spot she was in then reached into his pocket and was surprised to find a note in it.
He looked at the note with a scowl on his face. Of course, just she had to write it in riddle form. Now he had to face Sesshoumaru to figure out where the heck she was going.
Though it now made sense why they sometimes lost her trail trying to sniff her out. Hunters and Huntresses carry a special mark so that no demon can sniff them out. It was usually strong humans that had a thirst for blood and had an association with a demon, that were normally recruited. He had never heard of an fallen angel turned hunter. What was even more scary is that Hunters and Huntresses were usually told or brainwashed, as he liked to put it, to think they had to attack every demon they came across.
His eyes widened.
Could that mean that Kagome was a Huntress when they first met?! All at throughout their friendship with out the deepest slip of warning to him?! She could have killed him! god damn it! Why did he have to be born so bind!
He grumbled all the way home thinking one thing.
'He's gonna kill me!'
Sesshoumaru growled as he looked at the opened letter on his desk. Inuyasha just had to mess up again, making him lose his beloved angel once more!
He sighed and ran a clawed had threw his silver tresses in the low dusty light of his library.
'No use snarling.' He thought as he grabbed the letter and opened up. 'It's not going to help me in this situation.'
He looked at the letter again. His eyes narrowing at some points.
The note wrote clearly:
I am an action not for the discrete,
I am a sport for those I need to be,
I am hated by the shy,
But loved by women,
Men sometimes groan at my shuffle of feet,
Though I can be so much more then what they see,
I can express emotion with no words,
Fury with no swords,
And passion with no kiss,
But who is me?
He looked at the riddle replaying it over and over until his mind got blurry. He growled at the familair chuckle of Karasu.
"Wow! Fierce!" He joked putting his hands up in defense mockingly. Sesshoumaru glared at him.
"It seems that I can not figure out this one riddle." He said with a sigh.
Karasu smiled all knowingly.
"Well let me take a crack at it." He said swiping the paper way from Sesshoumaru's harsh glare. Then instead of glaring at the paper, Sesshoumaru glared at him.
'Like Karasu could understand it while I couldn't? Nonsense.' He scoffed.
Karasu looked at the paper then looked back at Sesshoumaru his eyes dancing with mirth.
"The answer is dancing." He said point blankly causing Sesshoumaru's jaw to clench in an effort to keep it from falling. He nearly wanted to slap himself for not thinking of it earlier.
'Of course! With the run of the bulls today, the dancers would be out practicing right now.' He thought as he dismissed Karasu.
Why didn't he ask Karasu sooner?
Kagomes hips swayed to the erotic beat of the Spanish music's end. All the other dancers looked in envy of the foreign blue eyed beauty's unnatural grace. Even their harsh but handsome teacher had taken a liking to the black haired girl but for different reason then they know of.
She sighed as she walk to the women's washroom.
She was only doing this because this was her way into the demon kings lair. They said he was hosting a special party right after the run of the bulls and the celebrations. And with her teacher, Demario, who so happens to be a sparrow youkai she saved from hell all those years ago.
'But let's not think about that.' She thought to herself a she pulled out the red rose Demario placed in her hair during the dance. She smiled at it fondly. Demario was a very nice guy but she had told him time and time again that she wasn't interested in dating right now.
"Persistent one isn't he?" Came a voice causing Kagomes eyes to widen just the slightest.
"Ah... Sesshoumaru-sama." She said with fake surprise as she put on her powder looking at him through the mirror.
"What a surprise seeing you here. I did not know you where female."
She place her hand on her chin.
"Though it explains a lot now." She thought aloud with a smirk.
Sesshoumaru growled but then smirked.
"Are you questioning my gender?" he asked coming behind her and cradling her waist.
"Hn." She said mockingly ignoring the way he cradled her. For a second it almost seemed gentle.
"I assure you I am male, Kagome." He murmured as he began to nibble on her ear in the spot that usually caused her knees to weaken in pleasure.
"If you like I could show you how masculine I really am Kagome-sama."
She smirked. No he was not going to get her with that old trick.
"As much as I would like that Sesshoumaru-sama," she said putting a sarcastic emphasis on the sama.
"I have other matters to attend to like going with Demario to the grand masquerade ball and not getting pregnant." She said snidely as she slipped out of his arms with ease.
Sesshoumaru growled in frustration and anger.
"You are not going to the dance with Demario." he said possessively.
Kagome frowned as she began to gather up her make up and powder.
"You will come home, stand by my side and stay there like a good wife should."
Her frown turned into a full on scowl as she whipped around.
Sesshoumaru was actually expecting her to be over thrilled at the thought of marrying in but oh he was dead wrong.
Kagome actually lifted her hand and and slapped him hard. He looked at her surprise.
"You bastard!" She hissed in distaste. He blink in surprise of her colorful language.
"I am not a object or thing you can push around! I will not come with you! And to think you thought that seducing me would get me back! I'm appalled!" She hissed as she opened the door. But Sesshoumaru was too quick. He quickly forced the door closed before she could even make a step out.
Kagome growled in answer as he looked at her confused.
"What the hell do you want?" She snarled softer. She may have lost her cool that time but she would be damned if she let him get to her once more.
"Why are you angered isn't this what you wished for?" He asked clueless.
Kagome clenched her jaw to keep it from falling open. How could he be so oblivious! Her ice blue eyes flamed with rage.
"No this is not what I wished for Sesshoumaru-sama." She scorned sarcastically.
"Now please let me through."
Sesshoumaru nearly scowled. How could she not want him?! He had the money, the looks, and the power?! What else was he missing?!
"No." He said firmly. Immediately, he regretted it cause soon enough Kagome's anger got the best of her.
She kicked him right dead center where the sun don't shine and then slapped him again. Sesshoumaru fell to the ground in pain.
"Go to hell bastard." She hissed at him before she left.
Her eyes narrowed as she look at the morning newspaper.
'Damn.' She thought as she sipped her black coffee. 'And I thought I had him.'
She threw the innocent newspaper down on the table in anger and scowled as she got ready to leave.
There in bold big black letters clearly it clearly stamped,
Grand Ball Canceled?!
"Damn you Satan, you can run but you can't hide..." She growled she stood.
"I will be your death, you jackass."
