Chapter 16: Another Date
(A/N: Correct, I'm a girl.)
Connor's POV
Since there have been no threats over the past week that the Hunters and Orion have been here, Phoebe has to leave soon. I decided that I should take her on a date during the day we have left. I'm going to take her somewhere cool.
"Why are you wearing a spacesuit and holding a second one?" Travis asked.
"I'll tell you later." I grinned evilly.
"I think the better question is, where did you get two real spacesuits?" Chris questioned.
"Annabeth and Luke got them after they visited a space station when she was eleven. Just don't tell her I took them without asking." I said.
"I already know." Annabeth appeared in the cabin's doorway. "Have fun on your date, but never steal my stuff again. Especially not the stuff with sentimental value."
"Okay." I grinned.
"Why does he need two spacesuits for his date?" Travis seemed agitated.
"He'll tell you later." Annabeth smiled and walked away.
Then I went to find Phoebe for our date.
"Why do we need spacesuits?" She asked quizzically.
"You'll see." I grinned.
Then we stood at halfblood hill to wait for our 'escort'.
"So you're sure about this?" Ares asked.
"Yep." I said confidently. "No mortal has ever done this for a date, so it'll be cool."
"What are we doing exactly, and why do we need Ares?" Phoebe questioned.
"He had to ask permission because I own the place you're going to. Plus, you'll need me for transportation." Ares hinted.
"What?" Phoebe was confused.
"Just hold on to my hand tightly." I smirked.
Ares gave an evil smirk before teleporting us to our destination.
"Ah! What the Hell?! Why is everything red?! And why aren't my feet touching the ground?!" Phoebe exclaimed.
"Because we're on Mars, so there's not as much gravity and everything is just tinted red from all the rust." I grinned broadly.
"Why are we on Mars? And why isn't Ares wearing a spacesuit?" Phoebe looked nervous.
"Because I don't need to breathe, being immortal and all." Ares shrugged.
"I thought it would be cool if we climbed Olympus Mons for this date. It's taller than Everest, but it should take less time because of the gravity difference. Olympus Mons was named after Mount Olympus, it's just in Latin." I offered an explaination.
Phoebe took a moment to proccess things, but she ended up grinning. "I guess it could be fun. I can definately say you were original with this idea."
"Great, let's get moving. Aphrodite said she'd go on a date with me if I did this." Ares said.
So we started climbing up Olympus Mons. Phoebe suddenly stopped, looked back, and got a strange look.
"What?" I asked.
"From this view, I think I just saw the Mars Rover Spirit." Phoebe giggled.
"Is there more than on Mars Rover? Because I thought it was called Opportunity." I questioned.
"There are three American ones now, but there will be four by 2012. The three that are currently on Mars are Spirit, Opportunity, and Sojourner. The fourth one will be Curiosity." Phoebe explained.
"Yeah, that's Spirit alright." Ares peered down to where Phoebe was looking.
We continued climbing until we finally got to the top an hour later. From this view, we could see the Earth, the Sun, the Moon, and a few other planets.
"Ah, Phobos and Deimos. Those two moons are named after my sons. Maybe it was worth tagging along on your date." Ares grinned.
"I wonder what it's like to be in the eye of the storm on Jupiter?" Phoebe looked thoughtful.
"It's not really that fun. And before you get any ideas, Venus is too scary for you two. Maybe you should go to Mercury. You'd just have to get Hermes' permission. But since you're mortal, you'd probably die of heat on Mercury." Ares was pondering.
"This was fun, right?" I asked.
"Extremely." Phoebe grinned. "I'd kiss you, but there's the spacesuit issue, plus Ares is here."
"Home, please." I looked at Ares.
"Sure kid. I want to get to that date anyway." Ares agreed. "And I don't owe you anymore."
"Agreed." I said.
Ares teleported us home. We finally took off the soacesuits and I kissed Phoebe.
"Later kids." Ares teleported to his date.
"Why did Ares owe you?" Phoebe asked.
"Because I stole Aphrodite's scarf back from where it was in the Big House." I grinned. "And I replaced it with a fake."
After that we went back to our cabins.
"So what did you need the spacesuits for?" Travis pressed me for information.
"So that Ares could tag along on our date, where we climbed Olympus Mons on Mars, I got to see the Mars Rover Spirit, learned there was more than one Mars Rover, got to see an awesome view, and had Ares suggest places we could go next time." I said truthfully.
"Really?" Chris asked.
"Where did you really go?" Travis questioned.
"I told the truth. If you don't believe me, look at the pictures I took or ask Annabeth." I grinned.
Travis did both, Chris just looked at the pictures.
"Cool dude." Chris smiled.
"Thanks for bringing my suits back in one piece. And don't forget to send me some of those pictures." Annabeth said as she left.
"But how did you get Ares to agree to that?!" Travis exclaimed.
Phoebe's POV
I told Thalia and Artemis about my date.
"Gotta give the kid points for originality." Thalia giggled.
"Sounds like fun." Artemis agreed.
An hour later, we were saying our goodbyes and getting on Apollo's bus.
"Take care of her Seaweed Brain." Thalia hugged Percy.
"Will do Pinecone Face." Percy grinned.
"Bye Annabeth." Thalia ignored Percy's comment.
"Bye Thalia." Annabeth smiled.
"Perseus." Artemis smiled.
"Lady Artemis." Percy waved.
"See you soon Connor." I hugged him.
"Bye Phoebe." Connor said.
Then I got on the bus and we drove away.
