Chapter 3

Yuzuru and Kanade walked into the Otonashi residence where Hatsune had a scolding ready to go. "Yuzuru Otonashi!" Hatsune yelled, "Do you have any idea what time it is?! Honestly, no text, no call, nothing." She sighed and closed her eyes. "I worry about you ya know. I'm not sure I could handle things by myself with mom and dad always traveling." While she was saying all of this he and Kanade walked towards the couch, sat down, and bowed their heads. "Are you even listening?!"

"Shiina's sick." He mumbled out.

"Wha-what kind of sick?" Hatsune asked in a scared voice.

"The kind of sick that people don't recover from… The kind of sick that can't be cured by praying." Yuzuru said while looking down at the floor. Kanade went over and embraced Yuzuru in a big hug.

"So are you going to go visit her?" Hatsune asked curiously.

Yuzuru kept his head bowed, "There's no point… she's in a coma… and I…. I…." Yuzuru's eyes welled up with tears but he wanted to be strong for Hatsune so he quickly wiped them away.

Hatsune stood up and started walking to her room. "Well I'm gonna go visit her tomorrow. You can come if you want but if you don't you'll be taking away the one thing she was the most excited to have; a friend." And with that Hatsune went to her room and shut the door.

Kanade looked at Yuzuru and Yuzuru just stood up and started walking to his own room. He finally spoke, "Kanade… come on. We've got a friend to visit tomorrow." And with that Kanade nodded and smiled and followed Yuzuru to his room.

It was now the next morning and Yuzuru had set his alarm for 8:00am. He got up out of bed and was careful not to wake Kanade. He couldn't help but feel like they were practically married, or at least dating the way they treated each other. He went across the hall to wake up Hatsune. "Hatsune," he knocked on the door and walked in, "it's time to go see-" but she wasn't there. There was a note on her bed addressed to Yuzuru.

Dear Brother,

I've gone to go see Shiina in the hospital. It's 7:00 and I'm leaving now. Early bird catches the worm you know.

Love, Hatsune

He shrugged it off, crumpled up the note, and threw it across the room. He walked back into his room and awoke Kanade. She sat up and yawned while stretching her arms high up in the air. "Morning Kanade," Yuzuru said to the sleep deprived tiny girl, "we're gonna start heading out soon." With that she nodded and got up to start getting dressed at which point, Yuzuru dashed out of the room and shut the door with a slight blush. "Warn me next time or something…" he whispered to himself while walking to the front door to put on his shoes. "Ready?!" He shouted down the hall.

Kanade walked out of his room in a button up light blue sweater, white dress that goes down to her ankles, and a sun hat. She nodded and walked to the doorway and put her shoes on. Yuzuru locked the door and put the key in the lock on the door. They had one of those locks where you type in the code and it has a compartment that pops out that hold the key in. It's kind of like what realtors use on open houses. They caught the next train to the hospital and were on their way.

After a long train ride of mostly silence they got to the hospital where Yuzuru ran into some people he thought he never would at the hospital. "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!" Yuzuru jumped at the screaming of the purple haired boy but knew right then who it was. "Calm down man." The blue haired boy next to him put his hand on the other one's shoulder. "Everything will be fine."

Yuzuru walked up to them. "Hey Hinata, Noda, what are you guys doin' here?" Yuzuru, Hinata, and Noda are old childhood friends. Before Yuzuru's parents got big in the medical field and moved to a better house, they all use to live in the same neighborhood. They all did a group bro hug and Noda looked sad for some reason. "What's up Noda, you visiting a loved one?"

Noda blushed slightly and snapped back, "She's NOT my loved one she's just my teacher!" Yuzuru stared at him blankly, "Never thought a delinquent like you would visit a sick teacher in the hospital." Hinata butted in before Noda had a chance to scream again; he had kind of a bad temper. "Not a school teacher, Yuzuru. It's his weapons master. She recently took ill."

Yuzuru looked at them in shock. "Don't tell me, Shiina Saito, right?" Noda looked amazed, "How'd you know?" Yuzuru got a grim look. "I uh… I was with her during the incident… anyway why are you screaming?" Noda got an annoyed look and turned back around at the nurse at the front desk. "Why won't you let me see Ms. Saito?! You said she's awake! I just wanna speak with her for a bit and give my condolences!"

Yuzuru jumped at the news. "She's awake?! That's amazing!" He ran down the hall while the nurse tried to call him back, but soon after Hinata, Kanade, and Noda followed him. On their way there, though, Hinata stopped by a room when he heard some commotion. "Yeah! Boom! Do it! Use the German Suplex! Ye- AH! Oh no! The remote! Not again. I can…. Get it…." The girl grunted as she leaned over the bed to get the remote. Hinata started walking into the room towards the loud, pink haired girl and picked up the remote.

"There you go." He handed it to her. She puffed her cheeks a little and said to him, "Put it back on the floor…" He got kind of offended, "Is that how you treat a person who's trying to help you?" He set the remote on the bed. She sighed, "I'm sorry, it's just that I like doing things by myself is all. I didn't mean anything by it." Hinata looked at her kind of strangely then looked at the t.v. "It's fine. Well, see ya." He started to walk out but was stopped by the remote falling again. He looked back and saw her trying to grab it. Being the person he is, he went over, picked it up, and laid it down on the bed again. "Try not to drop it this time, kay?" He started to walk away when, once again, he heard the clanking of cheap plastic from the remote hit the tile floor. He just walked over to her and stood by her bed, "Should I bother picking it up this time?"

The girl puffed her cheeks once more and crossed her arms, "Well if you don't want to help a lady…" Hinata stared at her for a second then slowly bent over to pick up the remote while saying, "Lady… yeah, right…" He grabbed it but before he stood back up he felt a slap on the back of the head. He stood up straight, "Why'd you hit me?!" The girl just replied, "Who, me? I don't know what you're talking about." She shrugged and smiled in victory.

He set the remote back down and started walking again, "Whatever…" The girl's voice rang out. "Hey, wait! My name's Yui. This may be odd but could you maybe sit here with me. I promise not to hit you in the head. It's just my mom's at work and I don't like being in the hospital by myself." He stared back at her in amazement as she said this. He started wondering if that was the purpose of her dropping the remote in the first place, so that she could get someone to come in here.

Hinata walked back and sat down. "Sure." He said. "My name's Hinata. So why are you in the hospital? Are you paralyzed or something?" Just then he saw her kick her legs up and down and smile, "Nope, just here for a check-up. In fact, the doctor says I'm the best I've ever been!" She said as she tried to make muscles appear in her arms. Hinata once again gave her a strange look but this time, more sincere. There was something about this girl that just stood out to him.

"So," he started again, "You like wrestling huh?" She shook her head, "Yup! But my real passion is music! I wanna go to a GirlDeMo concert soooooo bad!" She practically whined. He cracked a tiny smile for a split second then remembered, "Crap! I gotta meet up with my friends! Hey listen, I'll be back in a bit. My friends are visiting someone that just woke up from a coma so I'll be back. I promise!" He waved goodbye as he sprinted out the door and left Yui all alone in the hospital room awaiting for her new friends return.
