Hinata ran down the numerous amounts of streets he had passed on the way to Noda's house. Then he saw Yuzuru and Kanade on their way home. Hm? He wondered. Why are they taking the long way home? Well, I guess Yuzuru needs some time to cool off before facing his sister. He said before he doesn't want to show weakness in front of her. Crap what am I doing worrying about him?! I gotta get back to the hospital! He kept running full speed and screamed at himself in his head. Grrrrrrr why do I have to be such a nice person?!
Finally, after about 30 minutes of running, he got back to the hospital. He dashed through the front glass sliding doors and just as he was about to run up to the front desk, he ran into Yui. They collided and both of them fell back on the floor. "Ow!" Hinata rubbed his head as he got up and offered his hand. "You have a head like a coconut, ya know that?" Yui puffed out her cheeks and took his hand as he helped her up. She stuck her tongue out at him mockingly. "As if! We didn't even bump heads! You're like a foot taller than me!"
She looked to the side with a disappointed look. "You jerk… you said you'd be right back…" Hinata started tripping over his own words to explain what had happened and it took 20 minutes to convince her that he was telling the truth. "Mmm… Oh alright fine!" She said with crossed arms. "But to make up for your lateness you have to walk me home." Yui said as she pointed at him. Hinata looked at his watch. "Well, it is running on 3:30… alright fine where do you live?" He sighed and said with a defeated look. Yui smiled, "I live in the Sawamura apartment complex." Hinata looked at her in disbelief. "Hold on a second what apartment number?!" Yui cocked her head to the side and said in a curious voice, "201, Why?"
Scene change to in front of Yui's door
Hinata just stood there with a look of pure disbelief and shock on his face. "I can't believe it… you live right down the hall… And I didn't even know you existed until today…" Yui laughed as she saw his face. "Wow, I mean I never talked to you but I knew who you were at least. You ARE really just an unperceptive baseball guy aren't you?" Hinata looked down at her with an annoyed face. "Shut it short stack." He then looked a little surprised. "Wait how'd you know I play baseball?" Yui opened the door. "Well, considering you and your friends use the field out back almost every single weekend, it's hard not to know." She smiled and motioned her hand to the door. "After you my oblivious friend." Hinata looked at her with an expressionless face, "Gee you sure know how to treat your guests…" He started walking in and as soon as he was in the doorway Yui got an evil smirk and pushed him in. He fell down and looked up at her. "Hey what the hell was that for?!" She smiled and held out her hand. "That was for running into me at the hospital. PAYBACK!" She stuck her tongue out as he grabbed her hand and stood up. As soon as he was up she went back and closed the door.
Hinata looked around. It was a quaint little apartment where as soon as you entered the door, there was a wooden spot where you could take off your shoes. After that it lead straight into the T.V. room where, if you kept heading forward, lead into the small kitchen. If you walked toward the kitchen, but not into it, and headed right, however, there was a hallway. Your first left down the hallway would be the bathroom with a shower/bath, sink, and toilet of course. Then past that on your left was the biggest bedroom, medium sized if it had been a regular house but pretty big for an apartment. Then right across that was the smaller bedroom. He took his shoes off and set them beside the door as he stepped more into the apartment.
"Wait right there a minute." Yui said as she quick slipped off her shoes and ran into the kitchen. "I'll make us both some tea." She scurried past him but while doing so shoved him onto the sofa. He grunted as he landed on the soft cushions and sunk into them. "Make yourself at home, Mr. Oblivious!" Hinata sighed and thought to himself. How did I get myself into this? I was just going to visit a sick girl in the hospital, I never expected to be having dinner with her. Well, at least I don't have to walk far if things go south. He chuckled to himself and sat their quietly. Yeah, like that's ever gonna happen. Parents freaking love me. It's not in my programming to be rude to adults.
Yui interrupted his train of thought as she set a tray down on the table and stood in front of him wearing an apron. "I'm making dinner now, so it should be ready in about a half hour." She smiled and, as she did so standing there in front of him, Hinata felt his heart skip a beat. His face turned bright red and he stuttered. "Th-thank you very much!" He bowed to her but realized what he had done and stopped bowing right away. There was an intense moment of silence between the two… Next thing he knew Yui was rolling on the floor laughing. "H-hey, what's so funny?!" Said Hinata all flustered.
Yui tried to speak in between her fits of laughter. "Y-you're face! Hahahahaha!" She stood up and wiped the tears away from her face that had formed because she was laughing so hard. "I didn't expect that much of a reaction by you just seeing me in an apron. So I suppose I should be thanking YOU, you stud." She gave a joking smile towards him and laughed a little more. "Geez, would you lay off." He said still blushing but now drinking his tea. He put the cup down after a few sips and continued to speak as he turned his head to the side a little. "It's just not every day I get to see a cute girl in an apron…" Now it was Yui's turn to blush. She never expected to receive a compliment like that. He realized what he said and retorted to his own statement. "B-but don't take that as me hitting on you, okay?! I just tell things the way I see them!" She gave a slight smile again and started heading back towards the kitchen.
About 25 minutes later she brought the food out. "Bon appetit!" she said as she set a tray of rice balls and bowl of ramen in front of him. He thanked her for the food as she set her bowl on the other side of the coffee table and sat down on the floor across from him. "Hey, I just realized something." Hinata said. "Where is your mother? Shouldn't she be home by now or are you usually by yourself like this?" Yui was sitting there stuffing her face when she finally took a break and answered him with her mouth half stuffed with food. "No, she works about 14 hours a day and gets off on weekends. So yeah, I'm usually here to cook dinner for both of us." She smiled at him and swallowed her food. "But it's alright, I don't mind really. I just can't wait till I turn Eighteen next week!"
Hinata smiled at her. "Hey, happy early birthday. So do you have any plans for it? Are you and you're mom hanging out and doing something that day or something?" She sighed, "No. My mother has to work on my birthday. But she did promise we would go to the amusement park that Saturday though!" She said as she perked up. Hinata stared at her for bit then spoke in a matter-of-factly type tone. "Well that's no good, you can't be alone most of the day on your birthday. That settles it, you and me are going to see GirlDeMo live and I won't hear any if's, and's, or but's about it!" He said with his arms crossed but smirking. Yui's whole face lit up with joy as she leaped across the table and hugged him so hard he fell onto the floor. "THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!" He smiled and hugged her back. "No problem, Yui. It's the least I can do for standing you up then mooching off of you for dinner. Besides, who doesn't like GirlDeMo, am I right?" He chuckled a bit.
The remainder of dinner was spent talking about GirlDeMo and what there favorite soccer team was and why. Funny enough, they had the exact same opinions on those two subjects. When they were all finished with dinner Yui took the dishes into the kitchen and put them in the sink. Hinata smiled and chuckled a bit as he walked to the door and put his shoes back on. Yui looked at him curiously. "What is it? What's so funny?" He looked back at her. "You know, you're a pretty awesome girl." She blushed then he gave her a joking smile, "But I'm still older than you. I turned eighteen last June." He said while leaning in close to her face. She puffed her cheeks again. "Hmph! Well excuse me for not being born sooner!" She said teasingly as she stuck her tongue out at him and he did the same in return. They both laughed and Hinata opened the door. "Alright well, I guess I'll see you around Yui. Can't wait to rock it out at the GirlDeMo concert Saturday. See ya then!" He then shut the door and walked down the hall to his room. "Yeah," she said leaning against the now closed door with a dreamy smile, "see ya then."
Scene Change to Yuzuru and Kanade
Yuzuru and Kanade had just been walking around the neighborhood since they left the hospital. Yuzuru had wanted to cool off before going home and, Kanade didn't want to go anywhere without Yuzuru. When they finally decided to head home it was pretty late in the afternoon. While they were out though, Yuzuru called his Hatsune to make sure she was alright. She had picked up and said everything was fine and that they had just missed her when they visited the hospital because she didn't stay for too long. "Well, I'm glad that Hatsune is alright at least." He said with a sigh of relief. Kanade nodded in agreement seeing as how she doesn't talk much. Yuzuru unlocked his front door when suddenly he heard Hatsune scream from inside the house.
He rushed in and ran up to her. She was on her knees crying frantically into her hands and she wouldn't respond to him. "Hatsune! Hatsune what's wrong?! What the hell is-" Kanade stared at the T.V. and put her hand on Yuzuru's shoulder. "Yuzuru…. Look…" He looked at the T.V. as hot tears immediately started streaming down his face and he slumped next to Hatsune. Hatsune hugged him and buried her face into his chest as he just stared at the T.V. in total shock as the tears would not stop. The T.V. read, "Breaking News: Flight 260 leaving Japan headed for the U.S. has crashed. There have been no reported survivors."
