Chapter 6

It had been a year since that tragic incident. Hatsune and Yuzuru had barely even left the house, leaving Kanade to do all the shopping herself. When she got back today, she decided to go check up on Hatsune. Kanade knocked on her door, "Hatsune… Hatsune are you there?" Kanade heard some scrounging around as she heard Hatsune call out. "Y-yeah! J-just a second!" Hatsune opened the door and smiled at Kanade. "S-sorry I was just uh… cleaning my room… Is everything alright?" Kanade stared at her for a moment. "Um… I suppose so… dinner will be ready in about an hour and a half." Hatsune nodded her head with held back tears in her eyes. Kanade hugged her and Hatsune hugged back as tears streamed quietly down her face as she stifled some sniffs. Kanade then told Hatsune everything would be alright and left her to go check on Yuzuru.

Yuzuru had gotten better, better than Hatsune at least, but he was still very shaken up and wasn't prepared to go out and face anyone in the real world quite yet. Kanade walked into his room without knocking and saw him laying there reading a book. He sat up when he noticed her. "Oh, h-hey Kanade." His voice was steadier than his sisters. Kanade sat next to him. "Are you feeling any better?" He looked at her and gave her a peck on the lips. They were dating at this point. "I guess so…" Just then they heard a knock on the door. Kanade got up to answer it but Yuzuru put a hand on her shoulder and got up with her. "I think it's time I start answering the door again." He gave a light smile at her and she gave one back. She could see he was on the road to recovering.

As they started walking towards the front door Yuzuru noticed it wasn't a car that he recognized before. He motioned for Kanade to stay back as he grabbed the bat next to the door and cracked it open a little bit. "Yes?" he asked. He saw it was a fairly tall man with a suit. That's about all he could tell from him. The man spoke up, "Hello there. My name is Kenya Mamoru, and I'm a detective from the JPD." He pulled out his badge and showed it to Yuzuru. "I've come here because I think I've got some new information about your parent's death." Yuzuru went wide-eyed for a moment then opened the door as he welcomed the officer into the house. The officer stepped in, "This is a very nice place you've got here. You know, I've got a son about your age and-" Yuzuru cut the officer off. "Sir, I'm not sure what new information you could have." He sat down with Kenya in the living room. "A plane crashed and they were on it… accidents like that don't happen often, but when they do, they're tragic… if you've come here to tell me what was wrong with the plane then I really couldn't give less of a damn, sir." Kenya sighed and looked at Yuzuru seriously, "What if I told you what happened that day wasn't an accident." Yuzuru's eyes went wide once more. "W…what the hell do you mean 'wasn't an accident'…"

Kenya put a toothpick in his mouth and started speaking. "It all started when I went to the clean-up of the Saito's family murder. Mr. Saito was a good friend of mine; I visited him for self-defense training on a daily basis. I saw both of you there, and then I saw poor Shiina in that ambulance. What I also noticed was that the door handle was smashed, and it looked like the work of a complete amateur who had never even done a break-in before." Yuzuru spoke up. "Yeah, we noticed that too. What's your point in all this, Mr. Mamoru?" Kenya continued, "Please, no need for formalities, call me Kenya. Anyway, here's the weird part… we couldn't find a trace of anything. No hair, no blood, no fingerprints, not even a piece of damn cloth from one of their shirts. My suspicions were raised because, if this person was smart enough to clean up every speck of evidence from that home, you'd think they'd be smart enough to know how to break into it correctly instead of smashing their way in." Yuzuru looked at him, "True, but I don't understand what any of this has to do with my parent's plane crash." Kenya continued once more, "I'm gettin' there. A while back, while I was signing out one of the cars to take, I noticed something that was a little off. The same three officers who had checked a car out the day of the family murder, had also checked a car out the day of your parents plane crash. They definitely weren't just out for a regular patrol because the car was only clocked out for an hour and a half the day of the crash. So I went back and I wrote down all the times and dates of when they took a car out in the past three months, then I went back and checked all those dates for unsolved crimes… more than ¾ of them matched up."

Yuzuru sat there shocked, "So you think these cops are responsible for all those crimes?" Kenya answered, "No, I don't. At least, not for ALL of them, that is. They all had alibi's at one time or another for about ¼ of the unsolved crimes. This means that while they may not commit the actual crimes, they're covering up for whoever is doing them. Then I went back farther than 3 months. I went back 7 years. I saw the crimes that were committed start to get more frequent, and more violent. It started with some graffiti on a school, then a ransacked drug store, then multiple acts of assault. But these past few crimes are the worst that's happened. Last night I went back and looked over each case of assault to see if I could find anyone who could report who did the assaulting. After looking through over 150 different files, only one person tried to tell who did it. The problem is that that person was recorded to have schizophrenia and delusions of grandeur. Most likely that was slipped into their medical file to make sure whatever they said in court was taken with a grain of salt. Before I came here today I went to visit that person and ask them who did it. Sure enough they were more than willing to help and my suspicions were made to be a reality. The person who did these crimes, and the reason they were covered up, is because the person who did them, was none other than Souske Yamamachi; the Commissioners son."

Yuzuru looked at Kanade, "Kanade… is this the same guy from that day?" Kanade was holding back tears and nodded with her head down. Kenya looked at her a little surprised. "Oh, so this guy has done something to you as well? Hm… alright, I have a plan, but it's going to take both of your cooperation." They both looked at each other for a moment, then looked at Kenya and nodded. They were ready to put this monster behind bars.

Meanwhile at Shiina's House

Noda was in the training room. This past year he had moved out of his father's house and moved in with Shiina who had allowed him to stay there due to being old childhood friends and being friends of the family. Ever since he moved in just about a year ago he has been training non-stop and has advanced from a wooden bamboo blade to a full on steel halberd. Shiina got discharged from the hospital 2 months after the incident happened with her family and has been cold towards everyone ever since then. She has also been running martial arts classes along with Noda to keep the bills paid for the house. Noda has also started making his own hand-made weapons in order to sell them for a nice profit to help out with that as well. Suddenly there was a knock on the door. Shiina looked at Noda, "Go answer that while I get ready. That's probably the next lesson." Noda nodded and put his halberd down and answered the door as he was; shirtless and sweaty. "Hey, you Ms. Shiina's next appointment?" The large and buff teenager at the door answered. "Yes sir! My name is Matsushita Mamoru, and I'm here for my martial arts training!"

Meanwhile at Yui's apartment

In this year that had gone by Hinata and Yui had also started going out, and just two weeks ago they had moved in together in the same apartment complex where they had been living all there life. Hinata was in their bedroom sitting on their bed in nothing but his boxers as he started to put his pants on. He yelled out to Yui who was in the bathroom that was connected to their bedroom. "C'mon Yui we're gonna be late!" Yui stepped out of the bathroom with wet hair and nothing but a towel wrapped around her. "I know, I know, hold your horses." Hinata looked over to her and blushed as he looked back down for a shirt in embarrassment. "Just hurry up and get dressed will ya…" Yui puffed out her cheeks, "Oh sure, you mind it now but last night was fiiiiiiine." She laughed and hopped on the bed behind him and hugged him from behind. "This is so exciting! We haven't seen GirlDeMo since you took me for my birthday last year!" Hinata blushed even more as he picked out a shirt. "I agree it is exciting, but in order for us to do that you have to get dressed!" He said in a playful tone. Yui replied with a fake whining tone, "Oh I see how it is, you've gotten tired of my body already haven't you!" Hinata and Yui stared at each other for a moment and then started laughing. He then leaned over and kissed her. "Let's finish getting dressed so we can get going." They both smiled and nodded as they prepared to go to the concert.
