So, thank you everyone who read and reviewed! I'm glad my absence didn't kill this story entirely to the readers. And I'm glad to say that I've gotten some ideas as to how this story will progress, so… yeah, yay! :D I'm actually really excited to get writing it. Anyway, enjoy! :D
Chapter 7:
"I hate you."
"Why?"
"You know why."
Logan looked up from the assignment in front of him. "Uh, no. I don't."
Lola sighed. "Because Quinn and Michael are sick and somehow you're not! And you were around me more than they were."
"I already told you, I never get sick," Logan said drawing a smiley face in Lola's notebook.
Lola narrowed her eyes at the doodle that was taunting her. "I hate it when you're right."
"Come on," Logan swiveled his stool to face her, "if I was sick right now you'd have to do this assignment by yourself and you and I both know you stink at Chemistry."
"Shut up."
"And you'd have no one to hang out with if I was sick," Logan added. "So really, you shouldn't hate me."
"And yet, I do."
Logan smirked as she went back to doing her assignment. He turned his attention to the clock to watch as the last few minutes of class slowly ticked by. No doubt about it, he was bored; and with Michael being sick he was bound to be bored after class too. He may never get sick, but that didn't mean he wanted to be around his sick roommate any more than the 8 hours at night when he had to listen to the coughing that kept both of them awake.
The bell rang bringing Logan back to reality. He hadn't even realized the time even though he had been looking straight at the clock. He turned and quickly grabbed Lola's notebook causing the brunette to look at him.
"Can I have my notebook back?"
"Say that you don't hate me."
"You're making that pretty hard to do."
"Just say it."
"Ugh, fine, I don't hate you," Lola said reaching her hand out. "Now give me my notebook."
Logan allowed her to take the notebook from him and place it into her bag. "Hey, so do you want to hit the beach?"
"I always do," Lola said. She frowned as they exited the classroom. "But I can't… not today."
"Why not? It's a perfect beach day."
"Yeah, but I have to help Dustin rehearse for the middle school play."
Logan readjusted his backpack strap. "Dustin's in a play?"
"Yeah, he's the lead."
Logan let out a laugh. "You sound a little too happy about that."
Lola shrugged. "What can I say? I'm proud of the kid."
"If you say so. So what's the play?"
"Romeo and Juliet."
Logan let out a laugh. "Wait, he's the lead in Romeo and Juliet and he wants you to help him rehearse?"
"Uh, yeah. I thought we covered this." Logan held back another laugh. Lola sighed, stopping in front of him and crossing her arms. "What?"
"You realize he's hoping that at some point you'll kiss him, right?" He stepped around her and continued to walk toward the lower school.
Lola rolled her eyes and fell into step with him once again. "Like I haven't thought about that? Especially after Zoey told me about his crush on me a few weeks ago when we were video chatting."
"So what are you gonna do?"
"Uh, not let him try to kiss me."
"Well, duh," Logan said rolling his eyes. He smirked. "But just in case, I'll come with you. You know, for back up."
"He's 13, Logan. I'm pretty sure I can handle it."
"Well then I'll come to watch. It could be entertainment for me," Logan said with a laugh.
"You're such a jerk."
"So? You still-" Logan stopped short when Lola grabbed his arm. "Hey, why'd you stop?"
"Over there."
He followed Lola's gaze toward the fountain where the one person he didn't want to see was walking their way.
Vince.
Just great.
"Come on," Lola said grabbing Logan's hand and pulling him with her. Logan looked behind him to see that Vince was still walking toward them, his eyes on Lola.
"What are you doing?"
"Remember that time I saved you from Stacy?"
"Yeah, I still owe you for that."
Lola pulled him around a corner and stopped. "You're about to pay that off. Just follow my lead."
"Uh, okay…"
Logan watched her looking through the bushes, watching for Vince to get closer to their location. He was just able to get a glimpse of the quarterback before Lola stood straight, grabbing his shoulders. Before he could get a word out her lips were on his…
Kissing him.
Logan couldn't think straight and let himself kiss her back. His hands found her waist as her arms went around his neck. He still wasn't sure what exactly was happening, but he couldn't pull himself away to ask.
"Hey Lola I was wondering if – oh." Logan barely heard Vince talking.
Back off loser.
"Um, I'm just gonna go."
A few more seconds passed before suddenly Lola pulled away, looking over his shoulder at Vince's retreating figure, a smile playing at her lips as she caught her breath. She looked at her watch and grabbed her bag from the ground.
"I've gotta get to Dustin." She turned back to Logan, letting out a small laugh at his dumbfounded look. "Are you coming or what?"
"Right, yeah," he stammered out, grabbing his bag off the ground and following Lola to the middle school auditorium.
Hehe, what do you think's gonna happen?
Please, please, pretty please leave your thoughts/comments in a review? Much appreciated :D
