Well, I definitely got the response I was expecting for that last chapter, haha. Again, I'm sorry, but it had to be done. Thank you all for the reviews! Only a few more to go! :)

I need another idea to write for when I'm done with this one :p

Chapter 9:

"Don't you get it?"

Lola shook her head, pulling herself back into reality. She barely avoided getting run over by a group of rambunctious seventh graders making their way to the soccer field. How in the world seventh grade boys began to get so tall, she didn't know. Even Dustin was closing in on her height, well, not exactly, but the kid had grown at least two inches over the last few months. Zoey would be shocked the next time she saw her little brother.

"I'm in love with you!"

His voice kept breaking through her mental barrier. Her mind kept flashing back to that moment, the moment when everything she knew was flipped on its head. Those words didn't make sense, but at the same time, in a weird sort of way, they did. Lola just couldn't make heads or tails of it, and it was starting to drive her crazy.

Brown eyes stared into hers, looking for some kind of reaction. She couldn't react. It was like her body stopped functioning all together. Her brain wasn't thinking, she couldn't form any words to speak, she couldn't move, she couldn't even take her eyes off of his. She was in a trance.

It had to be a dream, or a nightmare, right?

Lola didn't know which one she wanted it to be.

"Lola? Can you say something?" he pleaded. "It would really help right about now. I don't even care if you slap me… just say something."

She forced her mouth to open, only to make a sound she wasn't sure was really coming out of her own body. "Um, I-I…" she was able to glance at his wristwatch. "I-uh, we should get to class."

She hadn't spoken a full sentence to him since.

He had tried talking to her right after their classes that day, but she excused herself to go and help continue coaching Dustin with his acting. She used that excuse for the next two afternoons until Logan decided to follow her to the middle school theater like he had tagged along the first day. It wasn't that she didn't want to be around Logan, but she knew he was waiting for a response and she just didn't have one.

How could she?

Sure, she had gotten closer to the formerly narcissistic, rich boy, but for him to just flat out tell her that he's in love with her? Where did that come from?

And why did her stomach do flips every time she heard the words play over in her head?

She didn't have to worry about avoiding Logan much for the past few days, he seemed to have gone back to avoiding her like the weeks before their talk on the bench. The few times she stole a glance at him in class she got the feeling he was mad. There was a cold look in his eyes when she briefly met them in class earlier that morning. She could tell he was hurt and upset with her.

That didn't exactly make her feel better though.

Lola sighed as she walked into her room where Quinn was sitting on the computer, as usual. Only this time instead of the scientist doing research or another one of her reports, she was talking to their two friends that were now across the world. Even that didn't put a smile on the actress' face.

"Hey Lola," Zoey said in her naturally cheerful tone. At the mention of her roommate Quinn turned as the actress flopped onto Zoey's former bed, looking up at her upside down.

"Hi Lola."

"What goes on?" Chase said over the webcam.

"Yeah, hi."

Rolling her eyes, Quinn turned back to her friends on the screen. "Don't mind her, she's been miserable all week. And she won't tell anyone why," she added with a glance to her friend.

"Well, Zoey's good at pulling people out of bad moods," Chase said, looking at his girlfriend.

"Stop," Zoey said, pushing him. She looked at Lola through the screen. "Come on Lola, whatever is going on can't be that bad."

Lola rolled onto her stomach, propping herself up to look at the computer screen and Quinn. "It's not that it's bad, I think." She shook her head. "It's just, it's… ugh, I'm confused and mad and … I don't know!" She let her head fall back to her arms, closing her eyes letting the images of that day take over again.

"It's not still Vince, is it?" Quinn asked. She knew the quarterback had an affect on her best friend in different ways, considering he used to be the object of her affection before he had decided to beat their friends up. Even then, Lola admitted to Quinn she still found him to be attractive.

"Vince?" Zoey asked. "You mean, Vince Blake?"

"The one that beat me, Michael, and Logan up?"

Quinn turned to them. "Yeah, for some illogical reason Dean Rivers let him back in the school. He's been bugging Lola nonstop since they had a yoga class together."

"Bugging her how?" Chase asked.

"He keeps asking her out."

"What?" Zoey said. "Lola, you said 'no' right?"

Lola lifted her head. "Of course I said no to him. He may be hot, but he's a jerk." She sat up on the bed, after somewhat calming herself on the inside. "Anyway, he's not the problem. He hasn't been for a few weeks."

"So, what's the problem?" Quinn asked, watching as Lola got up and paced the room.

"The problem is that one of my best friends told me that he's in love with me!"

"What?"

"When did this happen?"

Lola sat back down on the bed. "Last week."

"Wait," Chase said. "Michael's still with Lisa, but he said he's in love with you?"

"No, not Michael!" Lola stood back up. "Logan!"

"Logan?"

"Yes! Weren't you listening?" Lola looked at her friends' shocked faces. A week ago, she was giving the same look to the culprit himself.

"And he told you this last week?" Quinn asked. Lola only nodded.

"So what'd you say?" Zoey asked.

"I-I didn't say anything," Lola said, sitting down once more. "I didn't know what to say."

"I'm still going to need time to process this," Zoey said, "but have you talked to him at all since he told you?"

"Barely," Lola said. "I mean, we've barely talked since he started acting weird after we kissed."

"Wait, what?"

"You kissed him?"

"When did this happen?"

Lola looked at her friend, not aware of the big deal. "A few weeks ago. Vince was coming to ask me out again, Logan owed me a favor, so I kissed him to keep Vince away. And it worked."

"Well that explains his behavior," Quinn said.

"I can't believe you kissed him," Zoey said with a grimace.

Lola bit her lip. "Actually, he's a really good kisser."

"Well, as crazy as this sounds," Chase said, "are you in love with him?"

"What? No!" Lola looked down, closing her eyes. "I don't… maybe, I don't know!"

"Well, you should talk to him," Chase said. "Trust me, not saying something will make things worse either way."

"But what am I supposed to say? I don't even know if I like him in that way or not." Lola rubbed her temples and stood up. "I need to go for a walk."

Her friends only watched as she walked out of the room, closing the door behind her. Quinn turned back to her friends on the screen.

"Well," Chase said, "that was interesting."

I know, I keep playing it out. Trust me, I pictured this story going a whole different direction when I first came up with it, but it literally took a mind of its own. Like I said, a few more to go, then it will be done :)

Please leave reviews! Even if they include what you think will happen or any ideas for a new Zoey 101 story :)

You're all amazing!
