"Wha…what are you doing here?" Leon asked, not yet allowing Ada through the door.

"Is this how you greet an old friend, Leon?" Ada asked, enunciating his name as she pushed past him into the apartment. She stopped cold when she saw Helena, wearing Leon's shirt, standing in the archway.

"Miss. Harper…" She said, a small smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. "I didn't know you had company Leon."

"Yeah well I'd suppose you wouldn't know a lot of things. Now I'll ask once more, what are you doing here?"

Ada turned on her heels and once more faced him. "I have something that may interest you."

She reached into her jacket pocket and pulled out a vile, handed it to Leon.

"What's this?"

"It's a vaccine, the possible cure for the C and G viruses."

"Both?" Helena asked softly.

"Yes." Ada answered, reluctant to invite the young agent to the conversation.

"But how?"

"Wesker's boy; they've spent the last year working around the clock to perfect an antidote derived from his blood."

"It only took a year?" Helena asked, again receiving a fairly cold shoulder.

"It's still in a trial state."

Leon intently stared at the vial between his fingers. "Why are you showing us this?" He asked.

"Because you've recently had a run in with someone I'm very interested in seeing."

"That being?"

"Dr. Alvin Brooks."

Helena gasped as Leon shook his head and tossed the vial back at Ada.

"No." He replied. "He's in BSAA custody."

"I'd heard protective services, and Leon you should really hear a story before you jump to haste conclusions."

"Ada, no. It's out of the question. I know you, and whatever you're up to cannot be for the greater good."

Ada let a chuckle escape her throat. "Even if I could tell you why I need to speak to him, I can ensure you that's it's not going to harm anyone. Well, anyone of importance."

It was Leon's turn to laugh. He took a seat at his breakfast bar and dropped his head in his hands. "You're ridiculous. Ada, even if I could I wouldn't let you near Brooks. And the BSAA won't let you anywhere near him; I don't care how good you think you are."

Ada closed the distance between them and leaned in to close for neither than Leon and Helena's comfort.

"I don't know what's happened to you, but this isn't the Leon I know. You want the vaccine, I see it in you. This may be everything you've worked for."

Leon looked her in the eye, debating what to say. "Even if this would help the fight it's not worth it. Every time there's an incident, you just happen to be there."

"And? That doesn't ensure it was my fault."

"Look, he said he doesn't want your offer." Helena said, listening to every hushed word exchanged. "It's one thing for you to show up and sweet talk my boyfriend in front of me, but when he says no take the hint!"

"You both know if I hadn't been there a year ago, you ALL would have been lost, another causality of this war." Her eyes found Leon's once more.

"For what or may not have happened, I thank you, "he glanced at Helena "we both do. But Ada, I'm done chasing your ghosts. I've had enough of doing what you ask and chasing you for nothing. Fifteen years was enough and I've moved on. I'm not the one you need to consult with this."

Ada's face fell as she slowly slipped the vial back in her pocket. She almost looked wounded, if she wasn't so good at hiding her emotions.

"If that's what you want so be it." She said after a few moments. "I wish the both of you the best of luck." She headed for the door, pausing as she reached for the doorknob. "I'll always be around Leon." She said over her shoulder before walking out of the apartment.

Leon's head dropped to the table and he exhaled. Helena swore she heard a few choice words muffled by the granite. She stepped toward him, wrapping her arms around his waist and resting her cheek against his back.

"So that's it?" she asked, almost inaudible.

"What's it?" He asked, lifting his head slightly.

"No more Ada? You're done with her?"

"Yes."

It was silent for what seemed like an eternity until Leon felt Helena shutter against him, heard a choked sob. He turned on his barstool to face her and saw the tears in her eyes.

"What's all this?" He asked, brushing his thumbs across her cheeks.

"So it's just us then. You won't let her interfere." Helena stated, trying to convince him to declare it himself.

"Just you. I love you Helena, and I'm starting to think I need a change. You stayed, never wavered. You have to be the only one who told me to go after her and I refused. I don't know why, but I couldn't leave you. By the time we got to China I realized it was because I didn't want to.

This past year has been far more productive than the last fifteen. I didn't come home feeling like this loneliness was all I'd ever know. You didn't run, and I didn't have to chase you. I never want to lose what we have so please promise me that as long as I try so will you."

Helena smiled and placed a hand on his face. "I'm never giving up on you." She kissed his forehead before resting hers against it.

"Someday you and I will have everything, you just wait." He held her close for a while before saying "How about we take a look at that house."

A/N: This is just a little update to let you know this story isn't dead. My computer crashed and I needed to buy a new hard drive so I lost everything beforehand, including what I had for this chapter so I had to start from scratch and try to remember what I had written. Look for another update soon. And thanks for the support, always.
