They've arrived in a short period time. "It's kinda strange just moving into someones place so sudden…" Mumbled Amy.
"Don't worry." Anthony responded. "We talked about you this afternoon. They also have a son who is just a year older than you. He goes to the same school as well." As they both got out of the car, Anthony walked over to the door and rung the bell. Getting a better look at the house, Amy was amazed.
"It's such a big house." She said to herself.
"Oh and don't worry, Alex told his son about this situation so he already knows who you are." Amy nodded as they waited. "Isn't it nice to have a boy your age to study with? Oh and watch out for him. High school boys these days are always horny." When he finished his sentence Alex opened the door.
"Anthony! you're here!" They both hugged each other then broke the hug.
"I'm afraid we'll be imposing on you and your wife from now on." Said Anthony.
"Would you please not say that?" Asked Alex. "What do you mean imposing on us? We've been friends for decades! This is your home from now on."
"Thank you." Responded Anthony. "This is such a great home. Oh! This is my daughter, Amelia!" They both shook hands.
"Nice to meet you." They both said to each other.
"She looks just like Rose." Alex said as Anthony nodded in agreement. "It would be dreadful if she ended up resembling you." Alex teased as they all laughed. "Come right in."
"Oh, we have to unpack first." Responded Anthony.
"Oh don't worry about that, I can get my sons to get your luggage." Alex started walking inside.
"T-theres no need for that!" Anthony said quickly. "Hurry, untie the ropes." Anthony told Amy. Amy went over to the truck and started uniting the ropes.
"Hello Mr. Anthony." Amy quickly turned around to see who it was and saw a tall blue hedgehog, still wearing his school uniform clothes on, looking at her and caused her to turn back around, gripping on the ropes and blushing. "I'm Sonic, the eldest son."
"Wow, hes a hunk." Teased Anthony. Next came a much younger hedgehog with blue eyes, spiky bangs, a short sleeve shirt with an untied red vest, capris shorts with a chain on the side, and spiked wrist-laces with drum sticks on his hands.
"I'm Manic, the youngest son." Said Manic to Anthony.
"Wow, looks like good-looking runs in the family." Anthony teased Alex. "Nice to meet you both." Anthony then noticed the drum sticks on his hands. "Oh I see you're a drummer." Manic took his sticks and placed them at his back pocket. "Yeah, I was in the middle of practice."
"Go help Anthony and Amelia!" Responded Alex. Sonic went over to the truck next to Amy while Manic helped Anthony place down some bags. Anthony would give Manic some luggage, passed it to Sonic and he'd grab them placed them down. Sonic then would look at Amy who would refuse to look his direction and smile as if he were enjoying this too much. Aleena quickly finished baking a cake for them and set it down at the dining room table as they all came inside.
"Hello! You must be Amelia! Oh I see we have a ballerina in the house." Teased Alena.
"Yeah, a really useless ballerina." Both Manic and Sonic thought as they brought in the luggage from outside.
"You look so adorable! Come in, come in." She quickly grabbed Amy's arm and dragged her to the table. "Here sweetie, I've baked you a cake! Have a seat, no need to be shy, and I'll give you a slice right away." They dad's went over to the living room and just relaxed on the couch as the brothers would bring the luggage up to their rooms or the cloet.
"T-thank you". Amy said shyly as Aleena handed her a slice of cake.
"I've heard that you and Sonic go to the same school but different classes." Said Aleena as she poured Amy a cup of tea. Amy looked over at Sonic then turned back.
"Yeah…Thats right." Responded Amy.
"Have you met in school? Do you know each other?" Anxiously asked Aleena. Amy paused for a moment then slowly nodded.
"Our classrooms are quite far apart but we're quite well-acuainted recently. Isn't that so miss Rose?" Sonic smiled and evilly teased Amy as he carried a box upstairs.
"Really? Thats fantastic! From now on we can bake and go shopping together!" Aleena's cheerful voice went down a little. "It's as if I have a daughter." She said in a sad voice but kept on smiling.
"Hey miss ballerina girl." Called out Manic. Amy turn towards Manic and saw him holding up an English book. "Mind helping me with my English homework?"
"Oh! I, uh, guess why not!" Amy nodded in agreement as Manic turned to a specific page in his book.
"Ah!" He exclaimed. "This should be easy for you since you're a senior and I'm still an 8th grader." Manic handed her the book then went behind her to point to the problem." Right here, how would you…'Determine or clarify the meaning of unknown and multiple-meaning words or phrases based on grade 8 reading and content, choosing flexibly from a range of strategies.'" He finished then looked her direction to see what her answer would be. "If she can't even solve this most simple question then she must be the Queen Of The Dorks." He thought to himself as he saw her thinking hard that her brain might've explode. "I purposely gave her an easy one, so whats taking her so long? Even a 3rd grader can solve this"
"W-wouldn't it just be to…speak to someone how you normally would…?" She asked nervously as everyone looked at her in shock. Sonic sighed and came over to the other side of Amy and read the problem again.
"You use context as a clue to the meaning of a words or phrase, meaning the overall meaning of a sentence or paragraph; a word's position or function in a sentence." Responded Sonic as he glared at Amy for her stupidity then went to the living room and sat on the sofa. Manic grabbed his book and closed it.
"Yup, you're certainly the Queen Of The Dorks if you ask me." He said as he started walking away.
"Manic! You come back here and apologize to Amelia!" Quickly demand Aleena.
"What has been said cannot be undo, plus you can't tell me it's not true." He responded back as he went upstairs to put his book away. Aleena turned to Amy and placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Don't listen to him sweetie. You know what they say, 'boys will be boys.' Now c'mon! I wanna show you your new room!"
Aleena quickly grabbed Amy's hand and dragged her upstairs to her new room. The first thing she saw in front of her door was a heart shaped beaded curtain on her door. Aleena opened it and when Amy went through the curtain she could see a very pink girly room with a lot of stuffed animals in her bed, a closet filled with dresses & shoes, her own study/make-up desk with makeup and accessories in one side and some books in the other, finally there was a wall that was all a mirror with a ballerina barre attached to it. It certainly left Amy speechless.
"So?" Asked Aleena. "What do you think? Before Amy could speak Sonic was leaning against the door wall and interrupted her.
"I think you should give Manic this room back to him." Sonic turned to Aleena and Amy. "Ever since he's moved into my room he's been a giant pain in the ass."
"Sonic!" Aleena quickly responded. "One, don't say mean things about your brother and two, I asked Amy not you! Now, let's all head downstairs, it's almost time for dinner." Sonic left and before Amy could leave the room Aleena quickly stopped her. "So what do you think?"
"I love it! It's actually like a fairy tale or a dream come true!" Amy responded.
"I'm glad." Aleena faintly smiled. "You see…I've always wanted a daughter. Having these two sons with no girls would always push me on the edge of having one and…" Aleena stood silent for a second and sat down on Amy's bed causing her to follow. "I almost had one too…" She turned to Amy and faintly smiled at her with tears on her eyes. She stood up and walked out the room then came back and sat right down again. "…Her name was Sonia…" She said as she handed Amy a picture of a newborn. She had eggplant pink fur with orchid hair.
"She's beautiful." Amy said silently.
"Indeed she was. Ever since I found out I was gonna have her, I was the most happiest mother in the world…!" Aleena wiped away her tears and continued talking. "When i was about to give birth to Sonia…We were in such a hurry we even went over the speed limit to make it to the hospital on time, but…We crashed and had an accident..." Amy's eyes widen in shock. "When I woke up, I could no longer feel or see that Sonia was still inside my belly. When the doctor and nurse came in I quickly asked them where Sonic was…Their eyes where filled in shock and sadness. They turned to each other then back at me and the doctor finally spoke."
"I'm really sorry to inform you this but…you had a miscarriage and sadly enough, the baby ended up dying…"
Aleena sat there in silence once again. Looking at the ground, this time with tears coming down from both of her cheeks. "I remember…That I almost fainted when I heard him say that…To top it all off they said that the accident has also caused me to never have another child…" Aleena turned over to Amy. "T-that's why…When I heard that you were coming here….I-I knew it was gonna be a dream come true to me…! That I'd f-finally have a daughter of my own." Aleena smiled with tears still running down. Amy hugged her and started tearing up.
"I know how it feels to have lost someone dear to you…" Amy sorely said to Aleena. "When I lost my mom…I thought I would dye that instant…I remember standing next to the hospital bed, grabbing her weak hands and crying my little heart out…We both knew that it was time, but no matter what happened, she always kept smiling…It was in that moment that she took all her strength and placed her hand on my cheek, wiping away the tears on my eyes..."
"Remember Amy, be strong and always smile. Crying will just show them you're weak but with a smile on your face, you'll show them your invincible."
"When she said that…She kept smiling with tears on her eyes…then her hand that was once on my face, slammed down onto the bed…" Aleena stood there silent in shock with dry tears on her cheeks but still wet ones on her eyes. Amy started shaking. "T-thats why I-I promise her I would't cry! That never in my life I would shed another tear! I have to be strong, for her…" Amy then broke the hug and grabbed Aleena's hands and looked deep and serious into her eyes. "Thats why you gotta be strong for Sonia too!" Those words hit Aleena's heart deep and she could't stop crying.
"Y-you're right!" Aleena agreed. "I-I shouldn't cry! I should be strong for my daughter!" Aleena once again hugged Amy and whispered in her ear. "I'm really glad you walked into our lives…" Amy faintly smiled and hugged her back trying her best not to shed a tear.
"You're right on being strong and not crying…But eventually, those feelings will get bottled up inside…What will you do once that bottle explodes…?"
