Overcoming the Past
Lena waded in the shallow end of the pool while Bulma and Chi-Chi sunbathed nearby. The blushing blonde rubbed her ever-growing stomach. She was expecting her third child. The pregnancy was planned and it did not come to anyone's surprise; especially not with the way her and her mate behaved on a regular basis.
Trunks and Goten were tossing a new Frisbee prototype Lena had been working on in her spare time. It didn't take long before a competition between their fathers broke out over whose son was the best. Their wives laughed at their aggressive behavior over something so trivial. Lena joined in on the mirth until Raditz decided to participate in the argument.
"Clearly my twins are far superior to these boys you consider fully competent individuals," the proud father boldly claimed.
"Is that so? If they are so damn brilliant, then why are they fighting so close to their mother after you have already warned them three times to stop? Clearly their lack of discipline—" Vegeta was unable to complete his argument before Raditz's fuse lit.
His children, Leminz and Daikon, screamed for mercy as he grabbed them both by their curly, black hair and began to swing them around as if he were a helicopter and they the blades.
"Oh my goodness, Raditz, no! We've been through this; violence is not the answer!" Lena squealed, desperately fighting the urge to cry or was it laughter; she wasn't really sure.
He frowned at her compassion. Their two heathens were never going to learn any lesson with her being so soft. They were placing her in potential harm and here she was getting mad at him.
"Fine," he grumbled before releasing the two in midair, sending them flying back into the pool Lena was climbing out of.
Her precious little ones laughed uncontrollably as the wave of water they made when they landed heaved their mother back into the water with them.
She rolled her eyes exhaustedly at Raditz as he apologized in embarrassment.
"Momma, watch this," Daikon called for her attention.
Lately, her days were spent hearing them say her name 24/7 and she loved every minute of it. She thought back to the moths following their birth. Raditz learned more about human culture and what women of Earth expected from their men.
Unlike Vegeta, Raditz never complained about the social differences. If anything, he embraced them and enjoyed learning about Lena's likes, dislikes, tastes, and favorite places to go.
Among the things he discovered was the custom of proposals and weddings to unite two people. He wanted to participate in that as well and quickly discovered his distaste in traditional diamond rings. He opted for what Lena called a "vintage-styled" silver ring that held a two inch malachite stone. He chose this particular piece over other precious stones due to its color. It was identical to Lena's eyes.
Raditz was also rediscovering what having a family was like. The Briefs' family along with their housekeeping staff stayed busy so he never felt alone, hungry, or abandoned again. This impacted him emotionally and the changes that resulted from it did not go unnoticed by his mate.
Lena returned her attention back to her current surroundings.
The sun was beginning to set leaving a pink, coral, and orange sky. Bulma and Chi-Chi were coaxing their sons into putting the toys away so that they could go inside to clean up before dinner.
Vegeta and Goku were encouraging them to obey or "hell would be paid."
Raditz was helping Leminz and Daikon dry off before putting their sandals on so that they could join the others inside the shared home with their family.
She knew that she could face the bright, promising future without any hesitation because of them.
She had overcome her past at last.
